Hen Do OOTD & The Comfy Duck Review

Sunday, 13 September 2015

What do you wear to a hen do? I've been to a couple, mostly years ago, and these days a hen do can consist of drinking aaaall of the cocktails, or go karting, or crafting, or a European adventure, or, as was the case for the one I attended recently, afternoon tea!

Dress - Polly Grace Katrina*
Sandals - Evans
Handbag - Gift, unknown
Flower hair piece - Roses and Clementines

What could be better for afternoon tea than a cute pin up dress? I absolutely adore the print on this dress, it's like an explosion of blossom. It always gets complimented, it is really comfy, and it fits so well. The fabric is really light which is always a good thing! I twisted my hair over to one side and used my hair to hide the back of the bun crown so it looked like a slide. I felt so girly and cute.

We went to The Comfy Duck at The Oaklands. It was a very reasonable £15 a head which included a glass of prosecco (which I donated to my Mum as I don't drink).

The food was served in these adorable wooden trays, we had sandwiches, plum bread, huge blocks of amazing mature cheddar, and scones with clotted cream and different jams. I usually find clotted cream too thick and sweet, but this was so light and delicious.

I'm not a fan of plum bread, but the cheese. Oh the cheese. I love cheese, and this was lovely tangy mature cheddar, in incredibly thick and generous slices.

As I am vegetarian, rather than eat from the box of sandwiches, I was given my own chopping board with cheese sandwiches with watercress in a mix of brown and white bread. They were so fresh and yummy. The other sandwiches including prawn, ham and mustard, chicken and more. My Mum loved them! She's not much of a bread person, but she ate about 10 slices quite happily which says it all!

It was a lovely day, I love the chance to get dressed up and celebrate with a friend, and with yummy food thrown in it was such a treat! I'd never eaten at The Comfy Duck before but I will certainly look at going back.

Much love,
Kitty xxxx

ps. Don't forget, you can get 20% off at Polly Grace with my code kitty20

*this dress was gifted to me for review purposes. In no way does this affect my opinion on it, which is entirely my own.

Kustom Kulture

Thursday, 10 September 2015

I recently went to a wedding with a difference, it was held at Kustom Kulture in Lincoln! I was really excited for it, because I love events like this. I knew there would be beautiful cars, and gorgeous art, plus the marriage of two beautiful people.

How amazing is this cake? I had to sneak a photo of it to show you. I love the skulls and the colour theme.

Headband - Roses and Clementines
Necklace - Sugar & Vice

Dress - ASOS Curve
Pleather Jacket- Matalan
Sneakers - Converse

While I knew most of the guests at the wedding and the event would be rocking the 1950's look, I've always been awkward and decided in that case, I'd go for the 80's instead! The dress was a total bargain from ASOS. It was £13.50 in the sale! It's totally unlike anything I currently own, the colour in particular is a very pale peach/pink sort of colour, which is out of my comfort zone for sure. I decided to rock a pleather jacket and Converses with it so that it didn't feel too light coloured, and it gave it a bit more edge. I was a bit wary of such a light colour for a wedding, but Stu and my Nanna assured me it was ok!

The ceremony was absolutely lovely, Jo the bride wrote the most beautiful speech. I don't think there was a dry eye in the house! My eyeliner needed a touch up after that. Then, we went exploring around the event!

I had spotted this Chevy Impala on my way in and had to go see it up close. It's my all time dream car, I had to pose with it. Much drooling was done.

Cranfield's Curiosity Cabinet was there, I've seen their pieces at a few events and always have much lust for them.

I fell in total love with Luxe Decor and their work. How fab are those lampshades? I'd love one with a bottle of Bombay Sapphire at the bottom and zebra print on the top. Though Stu is more of a whisky man. I didn't have much cash on me, but I did snap up a print!

Perfect for our art wall!

These fab mounts were by ABH Tattooing. I love the glitter and zebra print!

I also discovered Chupacabra. They stock some older Candy Strike designs, so it's now about the only place you can buy them now that they are sadly no more. The girl running their stall was super sweet, and looked a total babe in a Candy Strike skater dress. I ordered one of their dresses in their final pre-sale, so I'm excited, albeit sad to get it.

I'm a Liverpool fan, so I had to get a snap of this scooter!

I also really loved this art by Mel Langton. If I'd have had more cash I'd have grabbed this piece in the silver frame.

It was a really beautiful day, even with high winds and cold temperatures, and it was a privilege to be a part of Jo and Rob's day. Thank you guys, and I wish you the most amazing and wonderful marriage together!

Much love,
Kitty xxxxx

ps. Also, how damn good does Stu look in a suit? *heart eyes*

OOTD : A Birthday BBQ

Sunday, 6 September 2015

It was the eldest of my stepson's birthdays last weekend, and my Mum kindly hosted a BBQ at her house for us. A cute outfit was in order!

Dress - New Look
Leggings - New Look
Sandals - Evans
Sunglasses - Next
Shirt - Polly Grace* (get 20% off at Polly Grace using my code kitty20)

I love a good bardot skater dress. It's such a classic style that looks dressed up, but is also so comfy at the same time. I thought the pale pink Penny shirt from Polly Grace would make a great summer cover up as it is around the same length as the dress.

Eye Shadow - Klean Color from ShopMissA
Lip balm - Barry M
Necklaces - The Serpents Club

I'm really enjoying how my hair has grown out. I haven't dyed it in over a year now and the natural ombre is a great length. It's grown so much! I am thinking of trying out some toners on it when I next order hair dye in for my hairdressing kit to add a bit more depth to it, as the bottom can look a little brassy.

I feel like I haven't gotten any new clothes for ages, there is so much autumn/winter stuff I love and I can't afford it. Where are you fairy godmother who buys me clothes?

Much love,
Kitty xxxx

Tattoos and London Adventures!

Wednesday, 2 September 2015

Last week I travelled down to London for a night and managed to cram so much adventure into one day and an evening!

Wednesday night the first thing I did was meet up with my lovely bridesmaid Roswell Ivory for her birthday! There were brownies, mangoes and many political discussions. I bloody love this gal! So happy I got to see her for her birthday.

I then jumped on the tube and went to meet Stephanie of Nerd About Town who I was staying with. You know when you meet someone and it's like you've known them forever? That's what meeting Steph was like. Hopefully it won't be long before I get to see her again because we totally didn't get enough time together. Plus, her Mum is a bad ass!

This handsome beast is Blue. He had a belly that needed rubs!

EDIT - While the quality of their clothes isn't in doubt, I cannot encourage anyone to buy from Scarlett & Jo or support their business for ethical reasons.

Thursday morning I got up and had a cuppa with Steph's Mum, then ventured across London to Scarlett & Jo's headquarters. I had arranged to meet Lucia of U Can't Wear That and Leighanne of Bump and Beyong Blog. Both are total babes and I am so glad I got to meet them! As an added bonus, Mayah Thomas was also there! I'm a huge fan of hers but I managed to control my fangirling :D I didn't remember to take any selfies because I'm useless. Next time! I also got to sneak a peek at some of Scarlett & Jo's upcoming designs, and even try some on. I'm 5ft 11 and Gifi of S&J was eager to see some of the samples on a much taller than average woman, and I was more than happy to comply! And you guys, oh we are in for a treat, so much awesome is coming. Eep!

After that, I then went over to Jolie Rouge Tattoo Studio for a 6 hour session with Keely Rutherford. I'm determined to get my lower leg moth/butterfly sleeve finished for our wedding next year, so I decided to risk a long session, having only done small ones before. I like to think I was pretty tough, but I have to admit, I was hurting by the end and had to tap out. One more session of about the same length and we should be all done :D

Keely worked in sections, starting on the front of my leg, because it's what I see, and therefore where the space bugs me the most!

Keely wanted to add more different colours into the sleeve, and orange was the most awesome idea! She also added in more black and grey with some less detailed butterflies with I think stops it being too crazily coloured.

She also had the brill idea to do some butterflies using negative space, so did some smaller butterfly outlines in orange and purple, and then filled in the background around them. So cute!

Then we moved round to the side, and then a little on the back.

I couldn't handle that last bit of green background needed on the back/side here, but next time I will! Keely is so talented, and it's such a privilege to have her work on me. She's the only person to have tattooed me.

And some close ups! I love the touches of orange, it's like sunset explosions in the butterflies. Lush! I'll take healed photos and share them in another blog in a few weeks, currently it is well moisturised and healing.

I had such a fab time, the folks at Jolie Rouge were all lovely, special thanks to Manny the gorgeous apprentice who helped me figure out the London buses and made sure I knew where I was going!

I can't wait to meet more plus size bloggers at the Curve Fashion Festival in Manchester in September, are you going?

Much love,
Kitty xxxx

August Favourites

Monday, 31 August 2015

August has been a crazy month, lots of life changes and different things happening, so my monthly favourites are a little bit out of the ordinary!

Two huge things happened that changed my life. I blogged about them both so I'm not going to go into too much detail, but I have to mention them because they are total faves!

I had Botox for my chronic headaches and migraines. I cannot get over how much it has improved my life. I can tie my hair up, wash it whenever I like, I'm not in pain. It's absolutely incredible and I couldn't be happier!

We welcomed the gorgeous Sinbad into our lives. Since I posted about Sinbad, he has unfortunately had to have his eye removed due to increased inter ocular pressure in it, but he is the happiest and fussiest little man, and has been such a trooper throughout everything. His vet totally fell in love with him and said that he's the best cat he's ever met. Chuffed furbaby Momma right here! I already can't remember what it was like without him. He sleeps with us, sits with us, and is generally supervises us around the house no matter what we are doing. He sits on the bathmat when I have a shower even haha! What a cutie.

So those are the two biggies, now onto the more materialist stuff!

This is one of the cutest pieces I have ever owned, and perfect for the summer-autumn transition. The way it falls is lovely, and the print is adorable.

PunkyPins Butterfly Necklace £13

PunkyPins shared a photo of this on their facebook as a few samples for sale and I snapped one up. I adore butterflies, and the pastel colours are just so pretty. It ended up proving so popular they put it into their shop. I can see why!

I've been eyeing this top up for ages, and I just had to order it in the end to stop tormenting myself. And boy am I glad I did. I'm not blessed in the boobie department like most plus size ladies, and this top with a plunge bra really makes the best of what I've got!

Sugar & Vice Dolls Eye Charm Necklace £30

I snapped this up as an ex-photoshoot piece on Sugar & Vice's Depop after falling head over heels for it when it was first released. We were meant to be together. Creepy cute and glittery. Love.

KleanColor Lipstick in Purple Machine $1

I love this purple! It's totally different from anything I would usually wear, and it makes me feel like an alien princess. For a $1, it's a bargain. The staying power isn't amazing, but who cares with such a fab colour.

KleanColor Utopia Baked Eyeshadow $1

The purple colour in this is possibly my favourite purple I've ever had. And the staying power is brilliant! It lasts all day and doesn't shift, bloody brilliant. I seriously recommend checking out ShopMissA where I ordered the KleanColour makeup from!

I also had a totally amazing adventure to London to meet a bunch of babes and get tattooed... but that's a whole other blog post to come very soon!

I've been saving up for a large tattoo session, so that's it for this month! What were your favourites? And would you like to see more photos of the animals? Cause I can always share more!

Much love,
Kitty xxxx

Flower crowns and hair bows and glitter, oh my!

Thursday, 27 August 2015

I recently blogged about my having Botox for the first time, as a treatment for my chronic headaches and migraines, and one of the things I was most excited about, was the possibility that I could wear hair accessories again! And I can! When I was younger, wearing hair accessories was totally my thing. I was known for huge hair bows and cat ears, and I was kind of heart broken when as my pain got worse, I couldn't wear them anymore.

But now I can... so I had to snap up a couple of bargains I found!

I discovered Roses & Clemetines on Depop and couldn't resist! They have beautiful flower crowns and bun flowers in beautiful colours, and make custom designs too. I grabbed this pastel rainbow headband for only £5 in a cheeky sale on Depop!

Aren't the colours just beautiful? Now my hair is my dirty blonde natural colour they stand out so well against it.

And I also picked up this pink bun flower for only £5 too! The bright pinks are lovely and really pop with my hair.

I popped my hair into a high pony tail, and made very loose rolls with sections of hair and roughly gripped them in place. I didn't want anything too 'perfect', with naturally curly hair I love messy up do styles.

It was a quick 2 minute job, and then the bun flower is secured round the bun with ribbon, and I popped a couple of extra grips into that to make sure it wasn't shifting too.

I am now lusting over aaaaaall the hair accessories and wishing I had a Fairy Godmother to buy me them all! :D

Ever since I saw that Sugar & Vice had teamed up with Janine Basil I had been lusting over this. It's an adorable sort of nerdy and I love all the colours!

When you think of flower crowns, you have to think of Crown & Glory! I love the colours in this and the wildflower, it's exactly how I wish I could get my garden to look.

Creepy cute brilliance, and available in glow in the dark colours, I need it!

Hysteria Machine make incredible accessories, and these are one of the more suitable for regular wear... if you are like me at least! I love antlers and deers, and the pastel tones are so cute.

Where are your favourite places to shop for hair accessories? I'm so out of touch with them, I need links!

Much love,
Kitty xxxx
