Jewellery is a girl's best friend!

That's right. Not diamonds, but jewellery. I love jewellery. Necklaces and rings and shiny things. I love them all! And you know I love a statement necklace in particular, so I couldn't resist these shiny beautiful pieces when I saw them on sale recently.

First up, this gorgeous teal and purple necklace that I bought from Amanda Apparel via her Depop. It is such unusual colours that I couldn't resist! I also bought a dress from her I'll photograph soon. She sent them out super quick and packaged really well, and generally seems to be a sweetie!

I love all silver everything, and the pearlescent look of the stones mean this will match any colour outfit so well! I like the spiked look of the feathers and the shape of this. It actually sits in 3 sections so it will lie better when worn.

Shells, silver, turquoise and a bloody huge necklace is just so me! For £6, there was no way this wasn't coming home with me. It's absolutely lush. All the different shapes and patterns are beautiful. Perfect for festival season, and also available in a gold colour too.

More jewellery means more means to store it are needed. And I got myself a bargain in the Urban Outfitters sale.

I have to admit, I tried to hang this and immediately dropped it, smashing off one of the horns. However, it looks like it'll be super easy to glue, oops! I might get some colourful paint and spray this a different colour, white isn't really my thing, but I love a skull!

Festwich 2015

This weekend I was away for Festwich, a free rock tribute festival in Prestwich. We went last year and had an incredible time, so as soon as tickets went on sale we snapped them up! Initially we were taking Stu's sons with us, but due to some unexpected last minute changes to their plans, we ended up taking one of our best friends Max instead.

Saturday had sunshine, and some awesome bands! The highlights on the Saturday for me were Ozzbest, their Ozzy is seriously a better Ozzy than Ozzy at this point, Pantera UK who were sadly playing their last ever show, and Mentallica who headlined the second stage. I've seen all 3 before and am never disappointed! The big thing that did let me down over the weekend was a distinct lack of vegetarian food. Usually at these festivals there is a veggie food truck, but this year there wasn't, leaving our choices as chips, deep fried veggie burgers or mushrooms. I missed Beets and Beans, who serve incredible burritos and veggie hot dogs, but who seem to have been told they weren't needed this year from reading their facebook page. They were sorely missed!

I also enjoyed Scamthrax. I've never really given Anthrax much of a listen, but I will be doing after hearing their stuff live. I love discovering new music through seeing bands live!

I didn't take an outfit photo on the Saturday because I wore an outfit I've blogged previously. I ordered a few different dresses to wear but all of them were too short so had to be sent back, gutted!

I owe Debz of The Not So Secret Diary of a Wannabe Princess big time for this skirt. She shared the fab shop who make them on facebook and I fell in love. Watermelons! In a skirt! You can choose from a variety of different prints, sizes between 6-32 and from 4 different lengths! I went for 24 inch long which was just right for knee length on me. It's so cute, and I definitely plan to order from them again.

Sunday kicked off with the brilliant BigFoot. I bought a t-shirt and their EP after seeing them previously at Boltfest, and decided to modify it and wear it for their set. As it turned out, it was much colder and rained all day, so I was glad for the extra layer! They've been recording their second EP and I can't wait for it.

These guys put on such a high energy show. They played at 12:30, the first set of the day, and they managed to attract such a crowd and rocked.

We met up with out friend Jess and her lovely fella Graham (who actually made me feel short). Max is just about ready to pop, security at the event were really nice letting her jump the queue so she could sit down quicker. At 37ish weeks pregnant and on crutches with SPD it much was much appreciated, thanks guys!

Sunday had an unbelievable line up. Pearl Scam, as always, were incredible, John the singer put on such a show and was clearly having the time of his life! Our friends Claire and Frankie's band played, the super glam rock and fun Spandex Rising. They played our favourite Skid Row song 'Sweet Little Sister' and even had security singing along. Glamtastic! Pinked Floyd were also spectacular. Such serious talent on display, that even if you aren't a Floyd fan, you have to appreciate their talent.

The real stand out surprise of the day, was A Band Apart. A concept I've never seen before, they exclusively play music from Quentin Tarantino films. You've never seen anything quite like a tent full of metal heads twisting and jiving! They had the whole crowd going. Only part of their band performed, with a backing track, I'd love to see their whole band play! Bloody amazing. If you get the chance, you have to go see them.

The headliner on Sunday on the main stage were Supreme Queen, who coincidentally are also headlining a festival I'm going to in early August. Honestly, before they started I was really nervous. And then they started and so proved me wrong. The singer had Freddy nailed on and had that crowd from the moment he hit the stage. I can't wait to see them again!

All in all, a fantastic weekend with great friends, extra thanks to my Pops for letting us stay in his flat so we didn't have to pay for a hotel!

Festival Inspired OOTD

As a bit of a hippy at heart, I can't resist festival fashion. I love flowers, I love stompy boots with cute dresses, I can't help it! I saw this dress on ASOS and had to snap it up straight away.

I cannot resist a bardot dress. I love them so much! The neckline is so flattering, and plays up what little bust I have. The denim look of this dress makes me feel all country and rock and roll at the same time. Festival footwear for me always has to be boots, because no matter how nice the weather, I do not want gross stuff touching my toes or getting all soggy.

Stephanie from Nerd About Town thinks I look like a fairy in this outfit. Which made me happy, because the flowery look was inspired by her outfit here! I've never been able to wear flower crowns which makes me sad because I love them, because my chronic head/face pain doesn't allow for the weight. So when I spotted this delicate hair tie on ASOS I decided to order it and give it a go, I've got one grip in it pinning it round my head and it's super comfy. Yay!

Boltfest

At the end of May, Stu, myself, and our friends Max and Mat went off to Boltfest for the weekend. Boltfest is a free festival, with some seriously amazing cover bands.

The Saturday -

We travelled over from Grimsby, and an hour late, we were finally allowed into the venue. We went straight to the stage knowing Pantera UK were second on. I've seen Pantera UK before and they are fantastic, but I was absolutely gutted when the organisers cut their set because the singer swore. I understand that it is a family festival, but it really tainted the day for us, and the band said they hadn't been told about it, gutting!

The next stand out band, was Ozzbest. Again, I've seen these before, and I was desperate to again. The guitarist is Zak Wylde in another form, and the singer, well, he does Ozzy better than Ozzy does as far as I am concerned! They do a lot of Black Sabbath which always makes me happy, and really know how to play up to an audience.

I was glad to discover Bigfoot on the up and coming band stage. We stood queueing for the loos, and I heard this immense noise coming from the second stage, and I had to go find out who was playing. I stood watching for the rest of the set and Bigfoot have a new fan in me! They are sleazy, glam rock inspired heavy rock, and while I was still sat in the field in Bolton, I ordered their EP and a t-shirt. I couldn't resist!

And the final band of the day, the stunning Guns or Roses. I've seen a few Guns & Roses tribute bands, and GOR are by far the best. Ridiculously talented and great fun, I hope to get to see them again soon! After Festwich last year when we saw them with Stu's kids, they were kind enough to get in touch with us on facebook and send us some signed stuff for the boys, plectrums etc, so they are a seriously great bunch of lads to boot.

Sunday was a much more chilled out day. It was much colder, and still lots of fun. I know for Stu and myself, the highlight of the day was Mentallica. Stu is a die hard Metallica fan to say the least, he has several Metallica tattoos and has seen them dozens of times, and Mentallica always really get him going. They are so so damn good. Security disappointed me during their set. They tried to break up a very civil, harmless mosh pit. Who goes to a metal gig and doesn't allow a mosh pit? Ridiculous!

Next up, Pearl Scam! I have also seen Pearl Scam before, and they are bloody incredible, and they did not disappoint, easily one of the best of the weekend. The singer sounds so much like Eddie Vedder, it's insane! We've promised them fish and chips next time they come to Grimsby, which hopefully won't be long.

We were tortured by U2 Tribe, who were possibly the worst live music I have ever seen, and ended the day with Doors Alive who were a brilliant way to end the weekend.

I also totally have to mention Beets and Beans, an amazing veggie and vegan food truck that was at Boltfest. Nommy healthy food is hard to come by at festivals, least of all when you are vegetarian (chips all weekend? No thanks!), and their hot dogs and burgers are lush.

All in all, a kick ass weekend! Even if Stu did programme the sat nav to walking on the way home on Sunday night so a half hour drive to where we were staying would have taken over 5 hours haha!

Village Fest

Every year the village I grew up in holds a fake festival on the village playing field and it is so much. My parents go, my brother and his girlfriend, me, Stu and his 3 children (who I call my step-children) and lots of family friends. Plus, this year for the first year ever, Ashen came too! It had been absolutely miserable weather-wise the day before, so I was worried about the field being a swamp, so boots, but a sort of summery outfit were in order.

Festwich Fashion

The last weekend of July myself and Stu took his boys to a free festival called Festwich in Prestwich, Manchester. It was held over 2 days and features heavy metal and rock cover bands and is family friendly. We had such an amazing time! So much fun, well run, and the staff were all lovely. The highlights of the weekend bandwise for me were Mentallica, Knotslip, Guns or Roses and Ozzbest.

Fashion went somewhat wayside for the weekend as comfort was going to be key for 2 days in a field with the boys, as you know I had them up on my shoulders for the bands! They absolutely loved it :D I decided on one skirt to keep the packing light, and to take 2 t shirts with me, nice and easy.

The outfit! Skirt is from last summer from New Look, shoes are Dunlop low tops, and the tshirt is from the most recent Skid Row tour, modified by me! I wore leggings I'd cut into shorts underneath the skirt for comfort, meaning my tattoo was on show for once.

This was day 1. It was boiling and I tanned like crazy. My hair went up after about 10 minutes outside with it down haha! Classy photos taken in the car park by Stu.

Day 2 was the same skirt, with a different modified tshirt, this time the Lucipurr shirt in sold out limited edition orange from BlackCraftCult.

I wore different sunglasses the 2nd day. As much as I adore the other shades, because of my chronic pain they aren't the most comfortable, and as I was driving back from the festival late at night, comfy was the key to minimal pain, so cat eye sunglasses from Ebay it was!

I loved how I modified both of my tshirts, I also modified Stu's tshirts into vests with a different neckline for him for the weekend as well. He is now addicted and keeps bringing me more to do! It's super easy, maybe I should write a blog about it?

Festwich was amazing, and if you get the chance you should totally go!
