My Favourite Outfits of 2017

Thursday, 4 January 2018

Is it really a new year if you don't do the odd round up post to show your faves from the previous year? I don't think so! I have plans for two favourite blogs, this one will be all about my favourite outfits that I shared on my blog in 2017. I didn't share anywhere near as many as I would have liked, particularly late in the year because of my operation, but hopefully 2018 will be much more fashion themed! So, here's my fave looks that I shared last year.

One of the few 'work wear' looks I've ever done, and a real outfit I wear regularly! 2017 reignited my love of skirts, and got me into shirts, something I had never really worn before. I've worn this look or a variation on it so many times since I first photographed it!

Quite possibly my favourite outfit of all time! This mesh dress is my absolute go-to for nights out. I damaged the hem recently and desperately got my Nanna to fix it because I am obsessed with this dress. Lace and mesh and a harness, it's a perfect 'me' outfit. Being plus size often means settling for things that aren't quite your style, this look is 100% Kitty with no settling at all. It's me, truly.

2017 was also the year I fell in love with oversized, relatively shapeless pieces. It's one of those things that plus size bodies are told to simultaneously wear to hide their shape, and never wear because it doesn't give the illusion of shape. Bare legs, a comfy dress, and a cameo from my pooch, can't go wrong.

I could easily have included basically every outfit I wore last year that featured Navabi, but this grunge inspired look is my fave. Glittery boots and a dress that matches my hair, love! Navabi are my stand out brand of 2017 for so many reasons (but that's a whole other post) and this dress is one of many reasons why.

2017 was a year of skirts and dresses for me, what items did you fall in love with?

Leopard Print and Faux Leather OOTD*

Sunday, 9 April 2017

One of the things I often struggle with is feeling sexy. I'm not a plus size gal with the traditional hourglass figure, I'm not busty, I don't really have a big butt, all those things associated with being sexy. Society tells us that fat women aren't sexy, and then it tells us that only certain fat women can be sexy, and I don't fall into any of those categories. I'm tall and awkward, I'm clumsy to ridiculous extremes, I stutter over my words some times and I get anxious about everything. But if I want to be, I can still feel sexy. Feeling sexy isn't necessarily something that everyone wants to feel, but sometimes, I want it, and this outfit had me feeling like a siren.

Top - New Look (sold out)
Harness Bra - New Look (sold out)
Pleather Skirt* - River Island

Firstly, this skirt. It is sex on legs. That zip is fully functioning and goes all the way up, so if you were so inclined you could remove this skirt in all sorts of fun ways. It's made of a quite thick and high quality faux leather and all the hardware on it is silver, which is my personal preference. A pencil skirt always gives your walk more of a wiggle, and add in that faux leather and I felt powerful! It fits true to size and sat just at the knee on my 5ft 11 body.

Shirts are sexy. Worn by every gender they just work. I love them. Wearing this unbuttoned isn't something I would have done too long ago. I don't have the kind of bust that meets in the middle and gives cleavage, but just because I don't have big boobs doesn't mean I can't show off a harness bra and feel lush. I don't have the sort of chest that the media might tell us is sexy, but I'll damn well show off my bra and feel like a sassy diva whilst doing it! A good harness bra always boosts my ego, New Look regularly get really lovely bralettes in and this is a prime example. It isn't totally wire free however, I find their mesh styles tend to have the side panel of wiring, so I save them more for special outfits or occasions than every day wear.

Many thanks to the incredible Shannon Swift for these photos of me. I always smile in photos out of habit. I feel prettier when I smile, and because I don't think I generally do sexy well these sort of photos were hard for me. Shannon really pushed me to do something different and I'm so glad she did!

Much love,
Kitty xxx

Alternative Work Wear OOTD

Tuesday, 17 January 2017

Shirt - New Look
Skirt - New Look
Leggings - ASOS
Boots - Demonia (no longer available)
Bag - ASOS
Sunglasses - Quay Australia
Necklace - BloodyMary Metal

Work wear isn't something I usually blog, mostly because I can wear whatever I want to work so it's not an integral part of my wardrobe. However, just lately I've been really loving shirts and slightly more work type looks, so I took the New Look sale as my opportunity to try it out, albeit with still a 'Kitty' sort of feel to it.

I've been looking at this chiffon shirt on and off for ages but couldn't decide if I liked it or not. Brown and khaki aren't really colours I usually wear but the animal print is very me. When this came into the sale I couldn't resist! For £11 it was a bargain. It has a slightly oversized fit, so the sleeves are long enough for my 5ft 11 frame which I was most concerned about. I always size up in New Look and it was the right decision with this shirt. It fit really nicely and didn't gape at the bust at all. It has split sides but I wore it tucked in for this look.

This mesh skater skirt has been in my ASOS saved items forever. It was originally £27.99 which is a little pricey for me, but patience paid off and eventually it went on sale on New Look for £14 and it had to be mine! It sits just below the knee on me, with the lining being a little higher. The lining is only attached at the waistband, so you will need to make sure to adjust it too. I'm really glad I got this skirt, I've been missing skirts as a part of my wardrobe and this is so cute. They also have it in red and I am very tempted...

My Mum got me this bag from ASOS for Christmas, but it's been a bit of a pain unfortunately. While I love the faux croc print and the satchel style, the shoulder strap is a nightmare. It kept attaching itself to the bag itself and damaging the faux leather, and then it just broke on one side entirely. I'm going to exchange it for a non-faulty one and hope it was just this one that was dodgy.

I'm a huge fan of Quay Australia sunglasses, and these 'Sorority Princess' rose gold sunglasses are over sized cat eye perfection. I have quite a big head (I'm a big person over all!) and I find their sunglasses such a comfortable fit. With my chronic head pain, comfort is key for me when it comes to sunglasses and these really fit the bill. I won my necklace from BloodyMary Metal in an instagram competition a couple of years ago!

I know the boots aren't exactly classic work wear, but they are very me and I couldn't resist. The mesh, the leopard print, the boots, peak work Kitty! I wore this outfit to an afternoon party we had for my Mum's birthday and got so many compliments on it. I think I need more shirts, I felt so cute in this one and love how it still felt a very me sort of outfit.

Where is your favourite place to shop for shirts for work?

Autumn Layering with Navabi*

Thursday, 20 October 2016

Autumn is my favourite time of year. I love the cold air with the warm sunshine, I love the colours of the leaves and nature, and I love the fashion. Layering always makes me feel like an outfit is just that bit more put together, that bit more chic. And when I saw this Navabi Manon Baptiste Colour Block Cardigan* I was in love.

It is absolutely perfect autumn colours, with shades of rusty oranges and grey, and the long line style is perfect for those colder days and nights. When this arrived and I opened up the packaging, one touch of this cardigan made it obvious that it was a sublime quality. The material is so soft and beautiful, and it is the sort of fabric that does not crease, which is perfect for a lazy girl like me!

I paired the cardigan with a cold shoulder dress from New Look, fun mesh leggings from ASOS, platform boots from Yours Clothing and necklace from Bloody Mary Metal. The oranges and grey of the cardigan with the red of the dress aren't a combination I would usually go for, but I think all the tones really worked together. I look like a chic pumpkin!

The leggings are really fun, a mixture of jersey and mesh that shows my leg tattoos off even in the cold. I always end up wearing leggings a lot in autumn and winter, and styles like this are just a bit more interesting. I always size down in ASOS leggings, and with these I could have probably sized down a second time as they do stretch a good deal as you wear them. My boots are from last year, Yours are one of the few places to sell up to a 10EEE which is the size I need, so I tend to leap at the chance to have cute heels. These are adorable, but not suitable for a lot of walking. After we shot these photos we walked all over Cheltenham visiting my parents, and my poor beans suffered badly for my footwear choice!

You guys know Stevie Nicks is one of my style icons, so I had to do my best Stevie Nicks pose to really show off the oversized style of this cardigan. It is one of the nicest things I have ever owned, and the quality of it is just wow. It is the ultimate in comfy chic.

I felt so cool in this outfit, but so cosy too. All the stripes and colour blocks make simple oversized lines really interesting and add so much to the outfit.

This cardigan also comes in a blue/grey/mustard combo that is beautiful too, and I really want that to wrap myself up in too! I love the length and style of this cardigan, I'm 5ft 11 and it hits to just below my knees which is awesome, and so unusual! It would be more of a true midi-style on someone of a more average height.

Navabi are the ultimate in dreamy high end plus size fashion, and I love that I can collaborate with them and share their designer pieces with you guys. That I can share both the cheapest of budget pieces, and then a truly delightful designer piece is so amazing to me!

Now, something different. Some of these blog photos are not like the others, there's a little something hidden in them. Comment if you find it!

Much love,
Kitty xxxx

A Cloudy OOTD

Sunday, 28 August 2016

I've written before about my love of CowCow, they make really cute stretch dresses in fantastic and ridiculous prints. I've got 3 now, the one in this post, a tiger print dress, and a dinosaur print. This dress is the first true skater style dress I've gotten from them and it's definitely my favourite.

How cute is that pink cloud print? They aren't a flat colour and instead have a variety of shades of pink and purple to give them depth. It's so damn adorable and has quickly become a wardrobe favourite for me. I love the length of this dress, above the knee, but not so short I really worry about flashing my butt. For reference, I'm 5ft 11. I sized up in this dress, which is available in up to a 5XL as the others are so short, and I really didn't need to, it's a tad too big on the bust but it'll do me just fine.

I paired it with some old Evans sandals, and a New Look denim jacket I've cut the sleeves off and started to cover in pins. I have a denim jacket I've modified that does have the sleeves, but for those slightly warmer days this is ideal. I feel very rock and roll in it, which is always my aesthetic!

When buying from CowCow, the key things to bare in mind is that while all the dresses describe themselves as skater dresses, they aren't. If you want the style that flares out at the waist like I'm wearing, you need to pick the style shown on their website with the model holding the skirt section of the dress straight out from their waist at 90 degrees, not at 45 degrees. I prefer this style to the other style I have as it's longer on me.

I definitely plan on buying like, all the ridiculous and fun prints I can. I wished for years I could find a plus size stores that sold these sort of dresses and now I've found one I need to collect them all.

Much love,
Kitty xxxx

A BBQ OOTD

Tuesday, 17 May 2016

On the 1st of May we rather bravely had our first BBQ of 2016! It wasn't the warmest day, and it rained somewhat, but dammit, we are British, it was a Bank Holiday, and we wanted a BBQ! I didn't really dress for the weather and ended up wrapped in blankets, but I still took a couple of outfit photos so I could share a more summery look with you.

Dress - New Look via ASOS
Belt - ASOS
Sandals - Yours Clothing
Faux leather jacket - Matalan
Leggings - ASOS
Sunglasses - Ebay

I know, I wear my faux leather jackets with everything, but I adore them! I had this dress saved in my ASOS saved items section for the longest time but kept umming and aahing over ordering. New Look stuff can be on the short side on me but I thought it looked like it would be cute for our honeymoon. I was sold on it when I went in my local shop and the till assistant was wearing it and is a similar height to me and it looked fab on her. I hopped on ASOS and it was reduced in the sale. It was meant to be! I thought a tan belt would be really cute and summery with it and I finally added one to my collection.

Normally I edit photos of my feet, I have patches of eczema, and scarring from it, but I've decided not to edit it out, it's part of me and I should be less ashamed of it. These are faux leather, and Ashen seemed to approve by insisting his feets were also in this selfie. The rope style front section is really cute.

And in case you hadn't seen it on my social media... my hair is pink now! I couldn't resist dying it before the wedding. It had been almost 3 years since I last dyed or coloured it.

Here's hoping for more summer weather soon!

Much love,
Kitty xxxx

Prologue to Spring : A LovedRobe OOTD

Sunday, 13 March 2016

If you are anything like me, Spring cannot come soon enough! I am fed up of drowning in layers and cannot wait to wear pretty dresses and cute skirts and denim jackets again. I find winter so uninspiring in terms of my wardrobe, but Spring brings with it a whole new range of possibilities.

Denim Jacket - New Look (old)
Chelsea Boots - Yours Clothing

I really cannot wait to be able to not freeze in bare legs again! I styled this outfit for these photos but then popped some black leggings underneath for more warmth because I was so cold. The cheeky flash of thigh is always fun, with the buttons down the front of the dress it is just long enough for me to not consider it indecent in the breeze.

With the off vintage white, red and black patterns, I decided to pair it with these red chelsea boots to bring out the colour of the dress. A denim jacket makes this look perfect for Spring. Super casual, and super comfy!

There are several different variations of print in this dress, and I think I'm going to need them all! There is an adorable blue, green and pink zig zag print, an abstract monochrome, and an elephant print which is ridiculously sweet. They are sleeveless and the material is nice and light, so I think these are going to be a real Spring wardrobe staple for me.

I can't wait for the sun, how about you?

Much love,
Kitty xxxx

December and January Favourites

Sunday, 31 January 2016

I didn't do a December favourites blog post, as instead I did a Christmas haul on my YouTube channel to show you what I got. So now January is at it's close I thought I'd get back to it! I'm going to share a variety of things I picked up between December and January, but not anything I got for Christmas, as I've talked about them on YouTube.

I have become totally obsessed with the app Neko Atsume. It's like, my idea of heaven. You set up toys and food in your yard to lure cats in to play and try to collect them all! It's so cute, and you can take photos of the adorable visitors you get. There are certain themed rare cats that are just adorable and need special toys and food to lure them in. So obviously I've dedicated all my spare time to finding them!

I picked up this adorable faux suede skater skirt in the New Look sale for only £6! I think it's the sort of piece that I'll be able to wear throughout the year in every season. It's very comfy, super cute and a really nice length.

As ever, my Crown & Glory Glitterati subscription box was a total win, with this adorable cloud hair clip/brooch being my stand out piece from it. It's so cute! And has been rather apt for the weather this month. You can see everything I got in this box in my unboxing video on YouTube here.

OK, so I said I wasn't going to feature any Christmas presents, but this one deserves a special mention! My Mum picked me up this Barry M Nail Corrector Pen and it's brilliant. I love painting my nails, but I am terrible at it, as evidenced in the photo on the left. This pen cleaned my shocking paint job up so quickly, and it smells like melons!

These holographic ASOS sneakers are a dream. I have been lusting after a pair of iridescent/holographic shoes for the longest time, and finally found these in the men's section in a size that would actually fit me, yay!

I have fallen totally in love with Makeup Revolution Lip Lacquer. In this photo I'm wearing 'Keep lying for you'. They are super pigmented and last incredibly well. I bought 3, and ordered a few more straight away.

I bought this adorable velveteen dress in both red and black from Everything5Pounds. I love the 3/4 sleeves and the mini dress length, and what a bargain at £5. It's a different shape to what I would usually wear too which is always good to mix up.

Yours Clothing Ankle Boots with Cleated Heels

I grabbed these in the January sale and I've worn them so much. Now I know Yours Clothing do a size 10 I'm forever checking out their site!

I actually bought this in summer last year, but only just got around to hanging it. It was bought from Ebay, and I love it. However Stu hates it haha! So I decided that the room I use for my YouTube filming is the perfect spot for it, so he doesn't have to look at it and I can all the time! It's so amazingly over the top, like an ugly jumper that rocks.

What bargains did you pick up this month?

December and January Favourites

Party Season OOTD's

Sunday, 10 January 2016

I went out rather a lot over Christmas and the New Year, so rather than bombard you with outfit posts, as I mostly took mirror selfies rather than proper photos, I decided I would share a whole bunch of them all in one post instead!

Dress - Lady V London
Pleather Jacket - Matalan
Sneakers - ASOS
Bag - New Look
Hair flowers - Crown & Glory

I wore this to a 50th birthday party for a family friend. I like to do pretty with a casual/rock edge, so the holographic sneakers and pleather jacket, with a daft pineapple bag finished this look off.

Dress - Everything5Pounds
Jacket - Boohoo
Boots - Demonia

The last weekend before Christmas my parents always take me, Stu, my brother and his partner out for dinner. We were headed to an amaaaaaazing all you can eat Chinese, which rather than being served buffet style, is all cooked on demand. It's bloody brilliant. I also know it tends to be a little cool in the restaurant so I opted for leggings and slightly longer sleeves.

Dress & gilet- New Look
Bag - ASOS
Boots - Yours Clothing
Necklace - BloodyMary Metal
Belt - ASOS

The day after Boxing Day was a party at my Grandparent's house, so a sparkly dress from last year's January sales, faux fur and shiny patent boots was an easy choice! Comfy but super glam.

Skirt - New Look
Top - Sainsburys
Gilet - LovedRobe
Boots - Yours Clothing
Necklace- BloodyMary Metal

This was an outfit I wore to our local for our first pub quiz of the year. We came 5th out of 7 but at least I looked adorable! I got so many compliments on this skirt, it was £6 in the sale!

Dress - Candy Strike
Jacket - Matalan
Boots - Yours Clothing
Leggings and bag - ASOS

I wore this to Yardbirds to go and see our good friends Evil Scarecrow play for the annual alternative New Year party. They are so much fun and totally ridiculous. You've never seen anything quite like a room full of metal heads scuttling like crabs to Crabulon! We ended up having a lock in with the band and crawled home at around half 4 in the morning. I don't do bad for a teetotaller!

Now things have calmed down and we are back into the swing of things, I will take some proper outfit of the day photos soon rather than just mirror selfies. I also got a new camera for vlogging, so expect to see my YouTube channel grow a lot this year.

Much love,
