CowCow Mermaid Leggings*

Thursday, 17 November 2016

As a fat girl, one of the things I've wanted for years, but have never been able to find, was a pair of mermaid leggings. I wanted to feel like a merbabe and have adorable scales. So when CowCow asked me to pick out the pieces they would send me as a Plus Cutie Ambassador for them, I had to get a pair of mermaid style leggings!

I opted for the Sca1 Bk Gr Marble leggings* by Trendisstuff. I love green and it's the traditional mermaid colour so I had to go for them. The print is beautiful, the marbling of the green with the overlay of the scales is so fun. The artist has done a great job in making them much more detailed than the average glittery mermaid leggings. I want this print in a dress STAT. But... and there is a big but...

These leggings are completely unwearable. I was so gutted! The legs themselves fit just right (despite how baggy they look in this photo), but the section that covers your butt and finishes at the waist has so obviously been scaled up from a straight size design, that it sits about half way up my butt instead. I wore them for maybe 5 minutes to show the pattern on the leggings and spent the entire time holding them up with two hands to even try to take a photo that showed the print. It's why they look so baggy, they are falling down, even just stood still.

These are the first product I've tried from CowCow that have been disappointing, but they are just not wearable for a plus size person. If they redesigned these and made them high waisted they might work, but sadly, as they are right now, I do not recommend them for plus size bodies. The hunt for mermaid leggings continues!

Much love,
Kitty xxxxx

PS. Big thanks to Twig for helping me with these photos!

My first baby shower?

Tuesday, 14 October 2014

So recently I went to my first baby shower. I'm not the most.... maternal of people, so Kirsty is actually the first person I've been friends with who has had a baby. A lot of my friends are like me, they don't want children, or they simply haven't had them quite yet. Rather than a typical baby shower, Kirsty had a pamper night. I thought this was a great idea, she's due in 2 weeks, so it was probably one of the last chances she will get to spoil herself for a little bit!

For Kirsty's present, I opted to get her something, rather than the baby. I don't know much about babies or what they need, and she has a fantastic family around her, so I decided a cheeky 'baby survival kit' was in order. With baby wipes (cause babies are messy), relaxing bubble bath for the odd time she might get to chill out a little, tinted lip balm, so she can feel like she's made an effort even if she doesn't have time for proper makeup, and SO MUCH CHOCOLATE AND SWEETIES. Cause why not?! I am sure they will provide a much needed energy boost while chasing after her babies!

Dress - New Look (no longer available)
Leggings - New Look (no longer available)
Denim jacket - New Look (no longer available)
Patches on jacket - Kreepsville 666
Necklace - Sugar & Vice (exclusive for subscription box owners only)
Converse Hi-Tops
Handbag - ASOS

When it came to picking an outfit, it needed to be comfy and cute. I was getting a manicure and a back massage, so being able to easily getting half naked without showing everyone my arse was a must! The cute tea dress is a lovely deep green colour, with a black lace area at the top, and the velvet leggings meant I could take off my dress but still be more covered up. I went for casual with the denim jacket and converses, and finally got to use my new vampire clutch for the first time!

A close up of my face and outfit details. I love this kitty necklace from Sugar & Vice, and the speech bubble you can see on my jacket is also by them, it features a True Romance quote :D My eye makeup is Sugarpill, and my lipstick is Barry M. I'm not skilled at makeup, but thankfully the bright colours help hide my lack of skill!

You can actually see my smiley piercing here for once. How lovely is the lace detail on this dress? I've worn it a lot, and haven't done anything special when I washed it, and it hasn't snagged or pulled at all. Let's also ignore the lipstick on my teeth please.

And my handbag. It easily fitted my wallet, phone, lipstick and my keys. And I have a lot of keys!

I had a manicure and a back massage at the pamper night. Oh woooow the back massage. So having another one of those. I learnt that I am very tense in my shoulders and man did I ache the next day from the masseuse trying to work the knots out. Hi anxiety! I went for bright pink with a black ring finger for my nails. I'm going to doodle on the bright pink with my Barry M nail art pen I think!

I also spent the evening fussing over Kirsty's adorable pooch, a staffy called Bruno who is missing one of his front legs. He is such a sweetie, and he looooves belly rubs, which is fine for me, I am happy to oblige!

What a cutie!

I'm trying to do a lot more outfit posts, so I hope you like them :) let me know what you'd like to see more of on my blog!

Much love,

Birthday Party Ensemble

Monday, 6 October 2014

My Dad was 50 at the end of September, oh my glob! It meant 2 birthday parties and he got totally spoilt :) Awesome! For the 2nd of his birthday parties, the first was for family, the second for friends (I went to both for the free food) I remembered to take outfit photos.

I wasn't dressed up until it was dark, so once again my photos are on the interesting side!

New Look Dress - no longer available
ASOS Curve tie dye leggings - no longer available
Black Converse Hi-Tops

I love this dress, the pleather cross under the bust makes what might be a really 'cutesy' type of baby doll dress into something a bit more me. It also has pleather shoulder straps.

I went for the biggest hair possible and was very pleased. My hair is naturally wavy, but not always the most compliant! I washed my hair, and split it into sections and twisted them, then twisting them into knots. I left it to dry naturally as much as I could, then when it was nearly dry, tipped my head upside down, and blow dried it as I untwisted them to get volume into the roots as well, then a little hairspray, and success!

I love a cute dress with converses or chunky boots. I'm not one for heels and I think they look so cute paired together.

I'm hoping my social life will calm down a little now!

Much love,

An Evening Do

Wednesday, 1 October 2014

Stu and myself were recently invited to the wedding evening do of a work colleague of his. I slightly panicked outfit wise because I realised that I have never actually been to a wedding as an adult that I haven't been photographing! So I tried on about 10 dresses before I decided what to wear. I also wanted to do something different with my hair for once so decided something cute and vintage was a must, so victory rolls!

The vicotry rolls only took me about 18 attempts to get roughly even haha. One always goes perfect, it's a rule I am sure!

I have no idea what my face is doing.

Sugar & Vice Solar System Necklace £28

I love this necklace for a statement necklace. It is so different, and it always gets complimented, love it!

Black Dusk Oversized black floral fringe side split longline kimono £50
Black Converse Hi-Tops

I love this dress. It's rare for a skater dress to be long enough for me, but this one is so cute, and comfy, and I really like the neckline too. I got a bit iffy about wearing black to a wedding, so went for the tartan leggings to brighten it up, and the kimono for more colour as well. I LOVE this kimono so much. Black Dusk sell through ASOS Marketplace and they have so much beautiful goodness. It was dark by the time I was ready so apologies for the full outfit photo not being the best.

The wedding night do was lovely fun, and it was nice to get to meet Mel and Jon, so many congrats! They had a photo booth, which you better believe I dragged Stu into!

Stu's amazing suit jacket is from Oppo Suits and is part of a full suit, but he opted for just the jacket. I love it so much. They are also available on Amazon and often go on sale, so keep an eye out, this one was a bargain!

Much love,
Kitty xxxxxx

The Witching Hour

Saturday, 20 September 2014

Sometimes I like to plan a whole outfit around a new accessory. Actually, I kind of do that alot. For this outfit, I had two new accessories I really wanted to wear so I plotted accordingly! I had a new necklace and a new belt, so an outfit they inspired!

Because I am a classy bird, thanks Mum for taking this photo in the yard at work.

Ashen decided to join in with me as well. I swear I am the most awkward looking person ever.

(please ignore the grass! We'd cut the grass the day before and I dragged some in from the garden)
Leggings - ASOS (no longer available)
Shoes - Dunlop

The belt and the necklace that inspired the outfit! As soon as I saw the belt I had to have it, non-leather goodness! The necklace is from Sugar & Vice's new collection The Witching Hour which I looooove.
Necklace - Sugar & Vice Raven Skull Necklace £14
Dress - ASOS (no longer available)

And a close up of the necklace. Also my new fringe which I cut in a wee bit short forgetting how much of a cow lick I have. Oh well, it'll grow!

I promise I am going to try and do more outfit posts. I've been so slack on them! I love this dress because it makes me feel like Alabama Worley.

Much love,
Kitty

Village Fest

Sunday, 24 August 2014

Every year the village I grew up in holds a fake festival on the village playing field and it is so much. My parents go, my brother and his girlfriend, me, Stu and his 3 children (who I call my step-children) and lots of family friends. Plus, this year for the first year ever, Ashen came too! It had been absolutely miserable weather-wise the day before, so I was worried about the field being a swamp, so boots, but a sort of summery outfit were in order.

Copyright Bigredtoad Photography

These are the closest to full outfit photos I have. First one is me and Stu, and then me and Ashen thinking he is a lap sized dog. He is not!

Pineapple bag - Asda £8
Dress - ASOS Curve Skater Dress with Bardot Neckline £25

Boots - Demonia, these are well worn and held together with safety pins
Leggings - ASOS Curve (no longer available)

Necklace - One of a kind from Sugar & Vice's depop

And for a bonus, a photo of me and Ashen, he is wearing my step-daughter's sunglasses, and he did for about 5 minutes quite happily!

It was such a fun day, and I know we will go again next year :)

Much love,

Oranges and Solar Systems

Sunday, 27 July 2014

It was recently my Grandparent's 50th Wedding Anniversary and they had a small get together on the actual day, and a big party the day after. Totally a great excuse for cute new dresses! I didn't manage to get any photos of my outfit for the big party, it was ridiculously warm and I was late getting ready thanks to my hair taking me longer than I anticpated, but I did the day before!

First off, the most awkward full outfit photo ever. Thank you Stu for taking it, I have no idea how I managed to look so awkward, sorry! Orange is not a colour I would ever usually wear, but I am so glad I decided to give it a go! Especially with my new brown hair I think it works well for me.

ASOS Curve Skater Dress with Panel Detail reduced to £16

I actually bought this dress the day before it went on sale at £32 and was gutted when it was reduced in the sale. So I will totally admit I bought it again and sent the expensive one back! The colour is called 'tomato red' on the website but it is totally bright orange and lush. It's also available in black but I wanted to give the bright colour a go for summer.

Sugar & Vice Solar System Necklace £28
Bloody Mary Metal Triple Bones Ring from £45
Bloody Mary Metal mini crescent moon ring - no long available
Nail Varnish by Barry M Limited Edition colour Promenade (can't find it on their website)

I love this necklace just ridiculous amounts. Like seriously, how amazing?! It has glitter, mirrored acrylic, the detail is wonderful and I always get so many compliments on it. I thought the blues would work well with the orange and I was right! I'm also wearing my Bloody Mary Metal rings that I literally wear constantly. I've not taken any of them off since I got them. Love them so much. I don't wear any Nail Varnish but Barry M. It is just by far the most chip proof, and animal friendly too! I painted my nails on Friday and have been doing all sorts and they still look perfect.

I am not great at makeup. Like, at all. But I try to hide that by wearing bright fun colours! My eye makeup is always by Sugarpill. Nothing else that is animal friendly and mostly vegan lasts anything like them, or has the amazing colours they have. I used Velocity on my lower lids and Flamepoint on my upper. They last the whole day, even in the crazy heat we've been having. I'm also wearing the new Barry M Cor Balmy! £3.49 in cb5 and Barry M Lash Vegas Mascara £6.49. The lip balm is so lush! It really moisturises and adds a good layer of colour, I love it, especially for summer as I think a lippy can feel a bit heavy in summer.

My shoes are brand new, I've been eyeing them up for a while and they finally went on sale so I had to get them. They are Evans Megan Black Strappy Mule Wedge and my leggings are New Look Inspire Tie Dye Printed Leggings from ASOS. They are soooo soft. Both of these are on sale at the moment!

I am so pleased I chose to dye my hair darker. It looks thicker and healthier, and I think it really shows my eyes off well. I'm hoping my root regrowth will barely be noticeable now.

Much love,
Kitty xxxxxxx

A work outfit, take II!

Monday, 30 June 2014

Another work outfit, that was also comfy enough for the long dog walk in the evening with the pooch :)

My sunglasses are just cheap ones from Ebay, I felt kind of rock chicky today hence the ridiculous pout in this photo. I won't do it again!

My adorable dress is from ASOS, it isn't available anymore sadly. They also had it in acid wash and I wish I had managed to get it! The red vest top is a cheap one from Tesco last summer, I could probably have done with the next size up in the dress for my boobs, which is an odd thing to say as I'm not particularly endowed, so I always wear it with a vest top underneath and the top buttons undone.

I wore it with my ASOS curve leggings in tartan check £18. I bought these when they were on sale. Super soft material and very comfy. And as ever, my Demonia sneakers. Hey, I gotta be comfy at work and for walking the dog!

My amazing Skid Row necklace was a custom commission I got from Sugar & Vice, they did such an awesome job, I love it to bits. No full outfit as I was on my own this morning when I got ready :)

Much love,

Father's Day!

Tuesday, 17 June 2014

Sunday was Father's Day in England, so it meant a family BBQ to celebrate the day with my love and his children, and my Dad too :)

This is what I got for my Dad. Custom Uranium and Plutonium element cufflinks from Sugar & Vice. He works in the power industry so he enjoyed these!

My outfit :) Stu took the first one but I think the hemline is more visible in the second one. Isn't it cute?

The dress is from New Look, my Mum found it in store on sale and treated me to it :) thanks Mum! I wouldn't normally go for a pink dress, but I liked the lace detailing and the hem is so cute.

I usually live in plain black leggings but I'm trying to break that habit, so cute new leggings! These are from ASOS. The material they are made of is so soft, I love them and will be keeping an eye out for more. My sandals are from Evans last year, it is so hard to get a size 10! The are wedge heels which I find much more comfortable.

To finish the outfit off I wore one of my favourite necklaces, the Sugar & Vice Swimming Mermaid necklace £20, and my black Gorilla Glass super spirals.

Much love

Much love
