Out of the Ordinary Market: Alternative Haul

Sunday, 11 October 2026

Last weekend I popped along to the Out of the Ordinary alternative market at Yardbirds in Grimsby. It is held a few times a year and always features some amazing local alternative sellers, from fashion, to homeware, perfumes, artists, writers, crafts and jewellers, and I can never resist snagging myself a few bits!

This was their last market before Christmas, so I can't share everything I picked up because the people they are for might see them, but here is what I can share!

First up, I was immediately distracted by these incredible ceramic horror movie inspired worms as I walked in, and had to grab a couple of favourites! These are by Deadly Designs UK, and Ghostface and Art the Clown came home with me.

The next stall along was Karen Horn Art, who I own quite a few different sets of earrings from already. I had pigeons on my mind, hoping Karen would have some available, and success!

I also spotted these hilarious worm earrings, and given that I had already bought the horror movie worms, it felt meant to be! So they came home with me too.

Next up I spotted this Dolly Parton inspired record over at My Darling Death, and as a huge Dolly fan, it had to come home with me.

I'm not sure where this is going to go up in my house yet, but I think a new gallery wall may be in order as I have a few pieces of art with no home yet!

I recently started actually committing to using some of the many stickers I have been too indecisive to use over the years, by sticking them to my cabin suitcase that I use when we travel. So for once, I am not afraid to buy new stickers, because I know I will use them. More Art the Clown and Ghostface was a must, with these two stickers from Sketchy & Spicy.

And finally, I spent waaaay too long smelling all of the incredible gothic and horror movie inspired wax melts and perfumes at Melting in the Moonlight. I honestly could have spent an absolute fortune with them. Some of the scents were so unusual, and so divine.

I opted for two lots of wax melts, the Hell Sidney! ones have an amazing cherry and amaretto sort of smell, and the Apothecary ones are bergmot, may chang, musk, amber and tea, not a scent I would normally go to but so unusual. I love a good wax melt in autumn and winter so the house smells lush and I can't wait to give these a go.

I also snagged some eau de parfum from Melting in the Moonlight. I typically wear the same perfume every day, but I am trying to mix it up a bit! I could easily have bought 10 of the perfumes, but had to control myself. I picked out a larger bottle of Tainted Love, which was actually the first one I tried. The stall had a full set of mini perfumes you could smell, making it so much harder to resist! It contains vanilla, black pepper and patchouli, but it doesn't have that sort of cliche goth patchouli smell. It is surprisingly light!

And lastly, I had to get Sticky Gothy Pudding. It really does smell exactly like sticky toffee pudding! My husband loves sticky toffee, so I figured he would love it if I smelt like it too haha. This was such an unexpected scent, but so delicious.

I could have bought so much from other stalls too. I highly recommend the Out of the Ordinary markets if you are in the Grimsby/Cleethorpes area. They support local alternative businesses, and I absolutely love that!

Much love,
Kitty
