Alternative Wedding Guest OOTD
Early in October I had the absolute privilege of getting to see my oldest friend Steph marry her wonderful new husband Steve. It is always such an honour to get invited to be part of someone's wedding day, and I spent months looking for the perfect outfit. I trawled so many different websites, constantly sending different ideas to my Mum, but none were quite right.
Until, I got an advert on Facebook of all places, with the dress I ended up ordering.
Dress - Next
Fascinator - old
Bag - Primark
This dress. Can we get a round of applause for the dress?! As a gym girlie who spends a lot of time on her shoulders and arms, an off the shoulder style is always a bonus in my opinion, and the celestial/mesh combo made this such a great choice for an alternative wedding guest dress. While wearing black might be a bit of a traditional wedding faux pas, the print really brightened this up and made it feel appropriate.
Let's get into the details!
Sapphire ring - gift from my grandparents
Brown ring - New Look
Wedding ring - shop no longer trades
Turtle and owl rings - old Butler and Wilson
Two sixed gem rings - New Look
Gold bangle - gift from my grandparents
Purple bracelet - Metamorphosis Jewellery
Claddagh bracelet - gift from my husband
Fitbit - cause steps don't count without it
I customised the glitter platform converses, because I don't think I will ever be a heels or formal shoes kinda girly! I chose a mixture of black and gunmetal glitter, and I danced in them all night long.
More photos of the rings and my incredibly long hands.
Glasses - Vooglam
Necklace - gift from my parents
Fascinator - old!
Yes, those really are prescription glasses, heart shaped and checkerboard?! Perfect for a wedding in my opinion. The fascinator I have probably owned for 20 years, my Mum dug it out the wardrobe in my childhood bedroom the day before the wedding and I am so glad she did. It really gave me that extra bit of fancy feeling I needed. I also coloured my hair the morning of the wedding, adding in some La Riche Directions in magenta to give my hair a pinky tone and I am so glad I did. It was such a last minute whim!
Biceps, triceps and shoulders coming in nicely thanks to my current gym routine!
I need more posing practice cause your gal is an awkward turtle once again.
Earrings - Monowa Butterfly Park
Can't forget the earrings, they came back from our trip to Spain in August, after a visit to Monowa Butterfly Park in Benalmadena. They collect butterflies and moths that have died, and use their wings to preserve in jewellery. So beautiful and so cool!
And bonus picks of me and my husband Stu, because why not! He kindly took the blog photos for me, so it was the least I could do to feature him in this blog too.
I felt so lovely in this dress, and with some adventures planned next year, I know I'll get a lot of wear out of it. I wouldn't normally spend £60+ on a dress, but this felt like a bargain with how good it made me feel.
Much love,
Kitty
