The New Crown & Glory Glitterati Box

Thursday, 19 October 2017

Until last year, I was subscribed to the Crown & Glory Glitterati. It was a hair accessory subscription service that sent different head bands, bobbles, clips and more each month, with a theme. I cancelled in the run up to the wedding to save money, but with the announcement that they were changing the box and adding jewellery, homeware and more, I had to try it again. It costs £23.95 a month in the UK (which includes shipping).

I've been subscribed for 3 months now but this is the first time I've blogged the box. Mostly, because I can't quite make up my mind about it. I miss having more hair accessories and the use of the word 'homeware' is a little misleading. So far the 'homeware' aspect of the box has included passport and notebook covers, it's definitely more stationary focused than I realised. This month I was excited thinking there would be a Halloween theme, but instead they opted for a 'Stars, Skulls and a Whole Lot of Glitter' theme.

One of three non-hair accessories this month, is the starry glittery pouch. I use pouches like this to store my lipstick in in my handbag so I was more than happy with this. It's really cute and it doesn't seem like the glitter will rub off.

Next up is some wax candle melts from the Ember Candle Company in the shape of little skulls, it's the only spooky item this month. You get four skulls, and these are orange and cinnamon scented which is just a perfect autumn smell. I have a skull designed for the melts so I can't wait to get these in it.

The last non-hair accessory, is these star shoe clips. They are cute but I'm not sure quite what to do with them! They are pale orange and pale yellow, which aren't colours I usually wear, but these might look OK on my rose gold Converses. We shall see!

One of the cuter items is this heart hair clip. It looks almost like it has planetary rings around it, and is quite tattoo like. I'll definitely wear this and it's a cute addition to the box.

And finally, my absolute favourite piece in the box, this crescent moon barrette. This is truly beautiful, and I think against my now blue hair will look lovely.

I'm not sure I'm going to keep subscribed to the box, but I will for at least another month as it continues to grow and change.

Much love,
Kitty xxxx

A Mini George at Asda Homeware Haul

Thursday, 13 April 2017

I can never resist picking up new goodies for our home, and now we've had our amazing new kitchen fitted I've been on the hunt. We bought a new kettle and toaster at the time from George at Asda in a lovely chrome, as well as a new dinner service, but the thing I was having a hard time with was cutlery. Our old cutlery was a little unusual in that the forks only had three prongs, and that drove Stu absolutely wild. He hated them! So the new ones had to be regular forks. I am also really specific about cutlery in that I only like to use totally smooth metal. I hate handles with patterns in the metal, and I really hate plastic handles. It's a thing I've always had, so I was expecting to come away with very plain silver cutlery and nothing fancy. And then, someone shared a photo on Facebook and the moment I finished work I dashed to Asda.....

For these.

These are the iridescent mermaid cutlery of my dreams! I'd never seen anything like these before. I can't find the listing on the George website right now, but they've been coming in and out of stock very quickly, so keep an eye out! The best thing about these, is that they are dishwasher safe! I really thought they wouldn't be, despite their packaging stating that they were. I was so impressed! They are such a gorgeous mix colours and I'm obsessed. Are they not the coolest cutlery you've ever seen?!

I always really like Asda's bedding so had a quick peek and had to grab this photographic cacti duvet set, it was reduced to £10 for a king size! It's pretty obvious from my social media that I'm a lover of cacti and succulents, so this had to come home with me. I find their bedding washes really well and is nice and soft so I forever find myself buying it.

You can get some really quirky pieces from Asda homeware section, I never thought I'd see something like either of these!

Much love,
Kitty xxxx

The First Christmas Decoration Haul

Thursday, 10 November 2016

Right. That's it, I'm saying it, Christmas. Prepare for this blog to be a Christmas-centric zone from now on (or at least, occasionally!). I recently popped into Asda with my step sons and couldn't resist a sneaky peek at their Christmas decorations and oops... I maybe ended up picking us up a few pieces.

Now I am pretty sure that I bought this bauble last year, but my youngest stepson absolutely loved it so we had to have it. It's a traditional glass bauble, in the coolest of rainbow styles! All the baubles we got were between £1 and £3, none were a major dent in the wallet department so into the trolley this one went.

This one was all me! How am I supposed to resist an adorable balloon dog bauble? This one came in a few different colours, and I'm tempted to get a couple more, but as purple is my favourite, purple it had to be.

More purple had to come home with us in the form of this glass balloon bauble. I ummed and aahed a bit with this one, I couldn't decide if it was obviously 'balloony' or not, but in the end we decided it was so got it.

This whale was too cute to resist, look how smug and smiley he is! He's a traditional 'baked'  style bauble, so something you could almost pretend was homemade if you were so inclined. A couple of these were broken on the shelf, with the fin missing, so just be careful as he is on the delicate side of things. He'll be swimming high up in our tree away from kitty paws!

This plastic bulb full of sequin and sparkles was instant love, I had to have it! You can never go wrong with a bit of sparkle, and this is a sturdy plastic, so I don't have to worry about it getting broken. This one came in a pack of 4 rather than as a single bauble, which the rest are.

And finally, the dream piece we just had to have, was the string of actual light up bulbs full of sparkles! These were £8 and I couldn't not get them.

They are full of quite a chunky glitter which reflects the light beautifully, and all the bulbs are a different colour, perfect for injecting a bit more rainbow into your Christmas.

The thing with fairy lights like this is they aren't just for Christmas, you could have these up all year round, and I just might! These use two AA batteries so you can have them anywhere you like which is awesome.

I'm sure this will be the first of many Christmas decoration hauls, I can never resist. I'm well into my Christmas shopping at this point, armed with my trusty spreadsheet, how organised are you?

Much love,
Kitty xxxx

Tesco Halloween Homeware Haul

Tuesday, 25 October 2016

Yes, this really is my third Halloween homeware haul! I popped to Tesco for some food shopping and couldn't resist a cheeky look in the Halloween section, and of course some thing maybe accidentally fell into my trolley and ended up coming home with me. Oops.

So nothing I bought from Tesco is actually listed on their website, even though their Halloween section is enormous! First thing that caught my eye was this ice cube tray of brains. It's just the sort of ridiculous thing I'd use all year round. I love ice and am always making trays of it, and these are really sturdy too, so you could easily use the moulds to make chocolate or jelly.

You know I couldn't resist a glittery skull right? It's only cheap polystyrene covered in glitter, but it's fun enough. I snagged two of these, they were about a quid each.

Probably my favourite thing that I picked up was this skull candle. The holes in the top show the red on the inside, as it burns it looks like it's bleeding, which is pretty cool! It was a couple of quid again, so cheap and fun. I don't really burn candles in the house (3 cats and candles is just asking for a problem or an injury), but I might have to carefully guard this one because it burns in such a cool way.

The last thing I picked out was a set of 6 plastic tumblers in 3 patterns. They are great for kids if you are a bit 'spookier' on the daily, but I also tend to prefer plastic cups when we have BBQ parties. Drunk friends and glass are not a good combo, so I make them all use plastic... I know, I'm mean! But I like my glasses intact, and these were too cute to resist. Look at their little faces!

I'm sure I'll probably end up picking a few more pieces before Halloween.

Much love,

Sainsburys Halloween Homeware : Matalan Halloween Homeware

Sainsburys Halloween Homeware Haul

Thursday, 13 October 2016

So this might just be part 2 of what is at least a 3 part Halloween homeware haul... I have a problem and I have embraced it! I love Halloween and I love keeping Halloween themed things around my house all year round. Spoopy goodness!

Sainsburys have most of their range online, and in fact a whole bunch of stuff that they didn't have in my local store, however this adorable plastic Monster Munchies container is not on their website. As soon as I saw it I had to have it! It's an adorable popcorn style container and it's so damn cute. I use Halloween themed bowls like this all year round for parties and this is my new favourite.

These little felt bats are actually tree decorations! So I am absolutely keeping these to have on our actual Christmas tree. Because I like our Christmas to be spooky too!

I also couldn't resist these Halloween baubles. It's maybe a little odd to think of Halloween stuff as so cute, but I really think it is! Especially when you make it glittery too.

These baubles are only £3 a pack, so I snapped up a couple of each.

And finally, this doormat was reduced to only £1.99. We've got doormats, but they get worn out so I like to replace them, and what better theme to replace them with than a haunted house one!

I could have bought way more from Sainsburys, especially now I've been online and have seen all the other homeware they have.

Much love,
Kitty xxxx

Matalan Halloween Homeware Haul

Tuesday, 27 September 2016

Hi. My name is Kitty, and I love Halloween! Every year I get Halloween goodies to use as homeware on a regular basis because I just can't resist the spooky cuteness. When a friend mentioned that Matalan had their Halloween range in I had to pop along and have a look.. and inevitably picked up a couple of bits.

This is the only thing I can find on the Matalan website that I picked up, but look how adorable! Lights like this are really popular right now, especially with bloggers, so this light up pumpkin had to come home with me. A bargain at a fiver.

One of the things I always keep an eye out for is serving dishes, and these small dishes are perfect for parties. At £1.50 each I got all 3 designs, and would have bought more if they had them!

I love using Halloween homeware to serve up crisps, dips, olives, all that sort of party food. And I don't wait for Halloween to use them! I use them all year round. My inner goth isn't very secret when it comes to things like this.

These are deep enough to be handy for parties, but small enough that they don't take up loads of kitchen storage space either which is great, because we don't have a whole lot of space in ours!

I always end up picking a bunch of homeware over the Halloween period, where are your favourite shops to get it from?

Much love,
Kitty xxxx

DIY Jewellery Holder with Sass & Belle

Friday, 15 May 2015

I have a little bit of a problem with jewellery. In that well, it fills my jewellery boxes, my drawers, my cupboards, I have kiiiiind of a lot! So recently I've been thinking about new ways that I can store my necklaces in particular, and thanks to Sass & Belle, I had an idea! When I tweeted about my idea, Sass & Belle were kind enough to get in touch and were excited by the idea too, so decided to send me the pieces I needed for it from them. What sweethearts!

And this is the finished product! A DIY jewellery holder made using Sass & Belle's amazing door & drawer knobs, mounted onto a piece of wood.

I had a lot of help with the actual making of this, so huge thanks go to my neighbour and friend Andy who was super enthusiastic and helped put it together better than I could have dreamed of it going!

Stag Head Drawer Knob £4.50
Rabbit Head Boudoir Drawer Knob in Cream £6.50

Andy was also responsible for this stunning piece of wood, it's actually part of the old bar our local pub recently replaced, which we are regulars in, so it makes it even more special for me!

Cat Dress Up Drawer Knob £4.50
Elephant Head Boudoir Drawer Knob in Cream £3.50

Andy drilled, and mounted each drawer knob, so that they didn't go all the way through the wood. By not having them sit flush to the wood, it allowed for more room to hand jewellery on them, without having to balance pieces on the decorative parts of the knobs.

Vintage Clock Drawer Knob £3
Skull Drawer Knob £4

I picked out drawer knobs that appealed to my personal style, spooky and cute, with a hint of nature. Sass & Belle also have adorable pastel drawer knobs, flowery patterns, cute animals, and vintage prints, so you can truly match your choices to your room decor. Of course I chose stags, because I have them all over the house, cats because I have kitties, the skull is creepy cute, the swallow is reminiscent of classic tattoos, and I just adore that elephant!

19th Century Eye Print Drawer Knob £4.50
Swallow Boudoir Drawer Knob in Cream £4.50

I love the intricacy of the cream drawer knobs, the designs are beautiful and look vintage and worn. They are sturdy and strong, so perfect for hanging jewellery on without worrying about breaking them. I was really impressed with their quality. The solid metal that screws through the wood is thick and affixed to the drawer knob itself incredibly well.

All jewellery pictured is from the fabulous Sugar & Vice, whose jewellery is the major reason for my needing more room for storage!

What do you think? I'm so thrilled with it! It came out so well, Andy was an amazing help, and Sass & Belle's kitsch range of drawer knobs was perfect for a unique DIY project. Thank you so much! I can now proudly display so much of my jewellery, and clearly be able to see my different pieces, as well as remove them easily.

Much love,
Kitty xxxxx

The drawer knobs featured in this post were gifted to me by Sass & Belle for the purpose of this project. In no way does this affect my opinion of the items, which are all my own.

I Love My Bedroom - The Art Wall

Tuesday, 21 April 2015

I love my bedroom! I love having a room that is just 'ours', and that reflects our personalities. Our bedroom is the 'darkest' room in our house, with black furniture and flooring, and a black wall with skulls on, and it is so wonderfully ours. I love climbing into fresh bedding and snuggling up, watching our TV, sneaking the dog into the room for cuddles when Stu isn't looking and on weekends, getting the dog, and both the cats in the bed too for the snuggliest mornings ever!

Since we got our new wardrobes, we have redecorated our bedroom and have started the 'Art Wall'. I love the look of walls that are filled with different pieces of art in different frames and textures, so now we have the chance to fill a wall, I'm totally doing it! One of our walls is black with skulls, and the rest are white to make sure the room isn't too dark. It's monochrome, with flashes of colour thanks to the bedding and now, the Art Wall.

I am more than happy to do art trades with people for art for this wall, so if you wanted to swap prints of my photography or polaroids for your art, let me know! I particularly love moths and butterflies in art.

Sass & Belle Hanging Butterfly Ornament - no longer available

Sass & Belle Black Photo Frame £4.95

Lawrence Canham Moth Print

Minimal Prints Reservoir Dogs Print - no longer available

The Painted Skull Death Head Moth Roe Deer Skull

Sass & Belle Turquoise Photo Frame £4.95

And that's it so far! The photo frames from Sass & Belle just have what they came with in them right now, but I'd like to switch them out for something, they are just so small it's hard to know what to get to put in them. I have a few pieces I have my eye on so I can't wait to see it grow!

And that's it so far! The photo frames from Sass & Belle just have what they came with in them right now, but I'd like to switch them out for something, they are just so small it's hard to know what to get to put in them. I have a few pieces I have my eye on so I can't wait to see it grow!

Much love,
