The New Crown & Glory Glitterati Box

Thursday, 19 October 2017

Until last year, I was subscribed to the Crown & Glory Glitterati. It was a hair accessory subscription service that sent different head bands, bobbles, clips and more each month, with a theme. I cancelled in the run up to the wedding to save money, but with the announcement that they were changing the box and adding jewellery, homeware and more, I had to try it again. It costs £23.95 a month in the UK (which includes shipping).

I've been subscribed for 3 months now but this is the first time I've blogged the box. Mostly, because I can't quite make up my mind about it. I miss having more hair accessories and the use of the word 'homeware' is a little misleading. So far the 'homeware' aspect of the box has included passport and notebook covers, it's definitely more stationary focused than I realised. This month I was excited thinking there would be a Halloween theme, but instead they opted for a 'Stars, Skulls and a Whole Lot of Glitter' theme.

One of three non-hair accessories this month, is the starry glittery pouch. I use pouches like this to store my lipstick in in my handbag so I was more than happy with this. It's really cute and it doesn't seem like the glitter will rub off.

Next up is some wax candle melts from the Ember Candle Company in the shape of little skulls, it's the only spooky item this month. You get four skulls, and these are orange and cinnamon scented which is just a perfect autumn smell. I have a skull designed for the melts so I can't wait to get these in it.

The last non-hair accessory, is these star shoe clips. They are cute but I'm not sure quite what to do with them! They are pale orange and pale yellow, which aren't colours I usually wear, but these might look OK on my rose gold Converses. We shall see!

One of the cuter items is this heart hair clip. It looks almost like it has planetary rings around it, and is quite tattoo like. I'll definitely wear this and it's a cute addition to the box.

And finally, my absolute favourite piece in the box, this crescent moon barrette. This is truly beautiful, and I think against my now blue hair will look lovely.

I'm not sure I'm going to keep subscribed to the box, but I will for at least another month as it continues to grow and change.

Much love,
Kitty xxxx

Halloween with Crown & Glory

Sunday, 23 October 2016

Some of you who have been around for a little while might remember I used to be a member of the Crown & Glory Glitterati. It's a monthly subscription box of hair accessories, usually with a monthly specific theme. I cancelled it in the run up to the wedding because well, weddings are expensive and I couldn't justify it when I had wedding stuff to buy! I haven't rejoined it since, but this month was the first month I have been really gutted to miss out on. Because Halloween is my jam. I love Halloween, and the Halloween box is always the cutest!

I caught a glimpse of a few photos of the boxes on instagram and commented how fab they were, and how this was the first box I've been sad to miss out on. A couple of days later I got an email from Lisa-Marie, of Last Year's Girl. She'd seen my comment and wanted to know if she could send me some bits from her Glitterati box. How sweet is that?! After much delight at her adorable gesture on my end and a couple of emails, she was kind enough to pop it in the post for me!

When it arrived, I was totally blown away, she'd had a change of heart and had sent me the whole damn thing! She popped the cutest card in it with a little note to me about how she couldn't resist, because 'Halloween is basically Kitty-fest anyway'. All the feels! Such a lovely thing to do, from someone I've never even met in person. Just the sweetest thing. So I had to share what she sent me!

The first thing to catch my eye was this teensy kitty hair clip, you know I was going to love that! The red glittery eyes are a nice touch, it's pretty small, so you could easily work this into an outfit for work to still feel spoopy on the daily, in a discreet way.

This little vampire cutie totally stole my heart! Look at those big sad eyes, and those cute little heart cheeks. What an endearing little chap!

One of the staples of the subscription box is these no-snag hair ties. Glitter is always a good thing, and the one with studs is very rock and rool cool. The other is a more traditional hair elastic with a skull on it, perfect for vamping up a quick ponytail.

This little skeleton hand is a delight, clips like this are always an easy way to make wearing your hair down look like you've made a bit more effort.

And finally, the real star of the show, this darling bat bow hair band. I plan to basically wear this every day now, even once Halloween is over! The wired headbands from Crown & Glory are always relatively flexible, so even my massive head is accommodated.

This glittery material is so lush, the sparkles pick up blues and silvers, reds, yellows, all the colours of the rainbow. It has so many dimensions to it, I might just have to wear this on the day itself.

Thank you Lisa-Marie for sending me this, it means a lot!

Much love,
Kitty xxxx

An ASOS Accessories Haul

Sunday, 3 July 2016

Of all the places I shop online, ASOS is the one I check the most. Most days actually. It always has a huge array of plus size clothing, but it also sells accessories that are just to die for. It's my absolute go to website for something different to really put an outfit together. I saw someone post about grabbing one of these items in the sale and immediately went on the site and ordered it. So here is what I got!

I've been a fan of Quay sunglasses for years, but usually just buy super cheap sunglasses and then moan that the UV protection is rubbish. This year I've decided to suck it up and buy some proper sunglasses, and when I saw ASOS had Quay shades in the sale it was meant to be. I love the stripes combined with the pink lenses! Usually I struggle with plastic frames due to my chronic head pain, but these are surprisingly light so I'm keeping them with great glee.

You might remember that I bought myself a cheap pair of sunglasses from Ebay that I blogged about here that were the silver version of these, but a fake. I had no idea they were based on a Quay design at the time but as soon as I saw these in the sale, I had to have the real thing. Cheap shades might be cheap, but their protection from the sun is rotten, so I'm being kinder to my eyes and getting the real deal. I'm late to the rose gold trend, I just couldn't decide if I liked it or not, but since colouring my hair pink I'm all over it. There is no comparison between these and the quality of my fakes, so get the real deal guys!

This bag. This bag is the bag of my mermaid dreams. There are brands that do popular shell bags that so many people have zip problems with that I opted to hold out and hope for a better version instead. And here it is.

It is iridescent magic with rose gold hardware. Yep, more rose gold. I predict a lot more of it appearing in my life over the summer.

I love the style of the strap, it's the right style to be able to hold in your hand or hook over your wrist so you can still use your hand.

How lush is that fabric? It reflects blues and purples and pinks and greens and just wow. It's gorgeous.

It pops open down the centre but has a silky interior that means nothing can fall out which is a great touch. It's surprisingly roomy and I am now desperate for an excuse to go out and use it!

Did you pick up any bargains in the ASOS sale?

Much love,
Kitty xxxxx

Halloween Goodies!

Monday, 22 September 2014

September has brought with it so many wonderful things, the best of which are Halloween themed goodies! I ordered some adorable things from ASOS, and I also received my Sugar & Vice subscription box :D :D

First up, my order from ASOS. I searched for Halloween on their website and picked my goodies from there :D They had a 25% off student day and I couldn't resist.

(fun fact, till 2 years ago I was scared of socks because I hated having my toes constricted so much)

Adorable, spooky, cute clutch bag! Made of pleather, and just so much fun. I love wearing all black and jazzing an outfit up with accessories and this is perfect for that. I plan to use it all year round.

And next, my Sugar & Vice Subscription box, known as the All Things Nice Subscription Box £35. Every 3 months a direct debit will take £39 (to also cover the postage) and you get £60 worth of goodies from the new Sugar & Vice collection, plus an exclusive subscription only item! Well worth it in my opinion. Sugar & Vice phased out their Lucky Dip option and this is the perfect alternative for a surprise 4 times a year. This box features The Witching Hour collection.

How cute is all the packaging? I was so excited! Buried under all the packaging was sweets and the actual jewellery. Normally Sugar & Vice jewellery arrives in clear plastic bags, this arrived in black, which made it an even longer surprise!

5 packages, I photographed each piece as I opened them, so exciting!

Dead Fly Charm Necklace £16

I looooved this necklace on the site, so was super happy to receive it. Creepy cute! I also love that this collection features a different Sugar & Vice label, a little coffin instead.

Raven Skull ring. Not currently on the website, this adjustable ring is a great addition to the collection. I like that it is backed with black.

Bat Wing Necklace £15

I just love this. The glittery heart, and bats are the cutest thing ever. A mix of matte black is just perfect.

Planchette Necklace £13

Gorgeous black glitter on a black chain, I love this. While I don't believe in the occult, I am fascinated by the things and beliefs that surround it.

I was also lucky to shoot some of the new collection with Missy Phillips. She was a lot of fun to work with and a fab model.

Harness by Malice

I cannot wait for more Halloween goodies to be available. I want them all!

Much love,
Kitty xxxxxx

Little Miss Delicious Surprise!

Saturday, 6 September 2014

I LOVE when companies have a mystery or surprise pack option for their accessories. I love surprises and cute jewellery surprises are the best. I recently treated myself to a limited availability Little Miss Delicious mystery pack and was so thrilled with the goodies I got! Maxine does super limited edition versions of her normally available mystery packs sometimes, so I totally recommend liking her facebook page to spot them, they sell out super quick!

Super cute note from Maxine <3 and the adorable packaging

All the goodies I got!

Little Miss Delicious Characters Coaster in Blue £4

Everyone has their spot in their house right? This will be going right next to mine so only I can use it. Those little pizza faces are adorable.

Tasty Watermelon Necklace £18

You better believe I literally squealed with delight when I saw this in my mystery pack. Thank you Maxine! I adore him!

French Fries Felt Accessory £12

The cute thing about these accessories is not only their faces, but they can be worn either as a hair accessory, or a brooch. I love this french fries pin, I think that will be one for my hair.

Ice Lolly Felt Accessory £12

I love the sprinkles on the chocolate and their little rosy cheeks.

Maskitec Cosmetics Sherbet Fizz Lip Balm £3.75

Vegan and not tested on animals, my sort of a cosmetics company! This smells amazing and the packaging is so lovely.

Maxine is a total sweetheart who works her butt off to make the cutest jewellery she can, and I love being able to support a friend. I actually got to photograph Maxine once, Maja Stina did her makeup and she wore some of her own designs.

Isn't she such a babe? I hope we get to meet again some day.

Much love,

Watermelon Snuggles

Monday, 1 September 2014

I've blogged about my love of watermelon print, and I am still so not over it at all. Not long after I posted that blog, the awesome VelvetVolcano started making hats. And oh my glob I had to get one! All of VV's hats are vegan and cruelty free, Tamsyn is a fab fab lady.

The package, the hat came all wrapped up in tissue paper with a ribbon, a business card, and on the back of the watermelon paper is a cute little note too. Tamsyn used my real name instead of Kitty so I'm not sharing :P

And the hat I chose. Seriously, I could not resist! The watermelon hat is available in either classic red, or pink, which is adorable as well.

Front view

Side view

This hat is so soft and comfy. I love autumn, and I cannot wait for it to keep cool so I can wear this all the time! With my chronic pain condition, I need hats to be a good fit, anything tight or heavy adds to the pain, and this hat is so soft it isn't going to be a problem at all. Tamsyn is in the process of designing more hats and I can't wait to see what she does next, I'm going to need more!

Much love,
