My Favourite Outfits of 2016

Tuesday, 27 December 2016

This year has been a funny one for my fashion. My tastes have changed, I've gotten braver, but I also feel like I should have documented way more outfits, so I hope to change that in 2017! I can't resist sharing some of my favourite outfits from throughout the year.

2016 was the year I decided that I could get my legs out as much as I wanted, and this dress was a summer favourite. I plan to wear it non-stop once it gets warm again.

I adored the black version of this Jameela Jamil dress* when it came out, so when they released it in red I had to have it. Plus I finally started wearing heels again this year and embracing my height!

This long sleeved lace dress* requires no bra due to my lack of boobage, which makes it super comfy and easy to wear.

I fell in love with drapey layers this year, and these leggings are faves too.

I also discovered a love of jeans, along with my obsession with this Navabi cardigan*. I feel like 2017 will involve a serious hunt for the perfect pair of jeans as every pair I find fits so weirdly. I will find my perfect pair!

A wintery party dress is always a must and this Lady V London dress* is so damn cute.Vintage inspired perfection.

I became a plus size brand ambassador for the Tutu Factory* this year and I think this outfit has to be the best one I've styled with their tutus so far.

LovedRobe sent me this amazing floral maxi dress* for my hen do. It's so unlike anything I would usually wear, but I loved it.

I could basically have picked any and every outfit involving a CowCow dress* because I love the so much, but as this is my most recent addition, this is the one I'm sharing.

I feel like this year I started to finally be the real 'Kitty' in my fashion, and express myself more. There are more different colours in my wardrobe, and more variety and adventure. Long may this continue!

Much love,
Kitty xxxx

CowCow Mermaid Leggings*

Thursday, 17 November 2016

As a fat girl, one of the things I've wanted for years, but have never been able to find, was a pair of mermaid leggings. I wanted to feel like a merbabe and have adorable scales. So when CowCow asked me to pick out the pieces they would send me as a Plus Cutie Ambassador for them, I had to get a pair of mermaid style leggings!

I opted for the Sca1 Bk Gr Marble leggings* by Trendisstuff. I love green and it's the traditional mermaid colour so I had to go for them. The print is beautiful, the marbling of the green with the overlay of the scales is so fun. The artist has done a great job in making them much more detailed than the average glittery mermaid leggings. I want this print in a dress STAT. But... and there is a big but...

These leggings are completely unwearable. I was so gutted! The legs themselves fit just right (despite how baggy they look in this photo), but the section that covers your butt and finishes at the waist has so obviously been scaled up from a straight size design, that it sits about half way up my butt instead. I wore them for maybe 5 minutes to show the pattern on the leggings and spent the entire time holding them up with two hands to even try to take a photo that showed the print. It's why they look so baggy, they are falling down, even just stood still.

These are the first product I've tried from CowCow that have been disappointing, but they are just not wearable for a plus size person. If they redesigned these and made them high waisted they might work, but sadly, as they are right now, I do not recommend them for plus size bodies. The hunt for mermaid leggings continues!

Much love,
Kitty xxxxx

PS. Big thanks to Twig for helping me with these photos!

Skulls and Roses with CowCow*

Sunday, 30 October 2016

By now you guys are pretty well versed in my CowCow obsession, and this roses and skull print dress* from their Amazon store is no exception. It's almost Halloween, so it seemed the perfect spooky but wearable outfit to share! In an effort to bring more colour into my wardrobe, this mint, white and purple combo was the way to go. This pattern is available in up to a 5X in 12 colour ways, and I might just have to snag myself an extra colour because I like the print so much.

The print is so very very me. Skulls and flowers, spooky but cute! It's really striking, and the mint and purple tones are lovely together. Autumn typically means darker colours, deep reds, purples, lots of black, but this bright flash of colour is my anti-autumn favourite.

I'm wearing my normal size and it fits perfectly. It sits at a really good length for me, above knee, but I like a cheeky bit of thigh on show (when it's warm enough!). I'm 5ft 11, so it would be longer on most. The material is classic CowCow, a super soft and stretchy lyrca material. I think the sizing on the CowCow Amazon store is a little more generous than their website, so if you are slightly outside of their size range you might find you can make it work.

How long is my hair getting by the way? I've got a grey toner on it a the moment as I wanted a colder tone for winter.

It's the classic skater dress style that I so love, and in cliche Kitty fashion I always have to opt for my pleather jacket and leggings. Sadly it's too cold to go without now! I know I regularly style my outfits in the same way, but I'm trying to be as real as I can be on my blog. This is exactly how I'd wear this dress, so that's how I photographed it.

I love CowCow dresses, and I love how they are treating the plus size community. They've embraced us, and they want to listen to us, which is such a wonderful thing! This dress retails for £10.99, with free UK delivery, so it's a real bargain. I just can't help myself at those prices.

Much love,
Kitty xxx

Leopard Print Pretty with CowCow*

Sunday, 16 October 2016

Will my CowCow obsession ever stop? No, I don't think it ever will. I wish they'd existed years ago, teenage me would have adored what they do. And 28 year old me is still so very into it. This time it's a dress from their Amazon store, the women's leopard print double sided skater dress in turquoise*.

Their Amazon store is full of vibrant prints and adorable patterns in skirts, dresses and leggings. The variety in their Amazon store isn't as vast, but it is all ready to ship designs, unlike their own website. I love leopard print, but rather than opt for a more typical leopard print colour, this bright turquoise green was so fun I couldn't resist.

The skater dress is an absolute fave of mine, the sleeveless design is great for nights out, and the spandex material is soft, comfortable and stretchy. It has a good amount of material in the skirt to skim over your hips and give good twirl!

I'm 5ft 11, and this particular dress sits a couple of inches above my knee. Usually they are slightly longer, but this dress is actually a 3X, and I usually wear a 4X in CowCow. Not all their designs are available in every size (yet! They are working on it) and this is one that stops at a 3X. I decided to risk it and I am glad I did, whilst a little shorter than my usual size, it's so fun I couldn't resist.

Because this dress is a size smaller than my usual, it is a little more stretched out on me. In this close up you can very faintly see white horizontal lines down the dress where the fabric has stretched. I've lightened this photo so you can see them, but they are nowhere near this noticeable in real life. In the interest of transparency, I just want to be honest and share this because the dress does have a white base, so as it stretches it will become sheerer. However, the lines are so faint in person that it wouldn't stop me wearing this at all. This happened because I got a dress in a size too small, so in the correct size this wouldn't happen.

CowCow dresses have become my go-to wardrobe for gigs. The fabric is lightweight and breathable enough that you can dance and get all hot and sweaty and the dress doesn't exacerbate it! Paired with my trusty pleather jacket, favourite Demonia boots and leggings, this is easy Autumn wardrobe that still looks fun and is so comfy.

This dress costs £8.99. For real. It's £8.99 and the shipping is free. That's seriously incredible, and helps explain why I now have so much CowCow! It's a real bargain, and I just can't resist.

Much love,
Kitty xxxx

A Galaxy Far, Far Away with CowCow*

Sunday, 9 October 2016

During my hunt for beautiful galaxy print goodies that resulted in the discover of this skirt on CowCow, I couldn't resist further ogling and stumbled upon this beauty. I've been making a conscious effort to expand the colours in my wardrobe and this luscious green colour really caught my eye. Green is my new favourite!

This is the Green Galaxy Skater Dress* and it retails for $50.99. It's a traditional skater skirt style with a lovely full skirt. It's made of a spandex type material that is so comfy to wear. The material means it isn't too hot in the summer, and isn't too cool in the autumn, perfect! You can also get this dress in the short sleeved skater dress style if cap sleeves are more your pace.

I got this in my usual style and it fits great. It sits just above my knee which I am more than happy about (I'm 5ft 11 for reference). The waist section doesn't sit on my waist, but this style of dress never does because of my height, instead it flares out from about an inch under my bust which looks just as cute.

The print is just everything. The mixture of greens and blacks and browns with lighter flashes makes it ideal to add to my wardrobe now it's autumn. While this has no sleeves, you can easily pop a long sleeve tshirt underneath it to keep it wearable all year round. I paired it with my trusty pleather jacket, leggings with a mesh side panel and converses. Classic Kitty! I can never resist.

As with all the apparel at CowCow, you can customise and design your own prints! You can find out how to find free to use images here! Be careful with usage rights and make sure they are available for use. I'm seriously tempted to have some of my nature photography made into a badass dress. You can sell your own designs through CowCow, and having a store with them is free! There are literally thousands of ready made prints to choose from, so if you have an idea just search for it and you can almost guarantee they have something in that theme.

Unlike their Amazon store, apparel on the CowCow website is printed and made just for you when you order it. Their Amazon store is full of ready made and ready to go items, but their website is where the real magic happens. It has so many different styles and designs, and all sorts of products and prints you can't get through their Amazon store. The products on their website are pricier than their Amazon, but that's because the prints are designed by independent artists who are also being paid for their artwork. So when you buy from the CowCow website, you are also supporting artists!

My CowCow addiction is never ending at this point. The dresses in particular are like Pokemon, I gotta wear 'em all!

Much love,
Kitty xxx

Dreaming of Galaxies with CowCow*

Sunday, 2 October 2016

As a plus size gal, there have been a lot of trends I've missed out on over the years, and the one I lusted after the most by far was the galaxy print trend. It was huge, and I could find nothing in plus sizes. It broke my heart, but finally, I have fulfilled my dream and have some galaxy print!

This incredible skirt is from CowCow. I've talked a lot about CowCow and their Amazon store, but they also have an actual website that is stuffed with so much different stock you could never see it all! This stunning skirt is one of so many, it's a galaxy print A-line skirt*. One of the incredible things with CowCow is that if you can think of a print, it probably exists on their apparel, I found this skirt searching random ideas I had! And if you have a print you want that doesn't exist, you can design it, and sell it. Always wanted a skirt with your cat on it? You can do it! Just go here and take a look, you can design apparel, bags, cases, prints, posters, cards and so much more.

Rather than a smooth spandex material, this is more like a soft waffle, you can see the texture once you get close up. It's stretchy and comfy, and the print is divine. Usually I wear a 4X in CowCow, but this skirt only goes up to a 3X and it fits me absolutely fine because of how stretchy it is. Hopefully they'll expand their entire range up to 5X soon, they are working on it!

As you can see, this skirt is a really great length on me, it sits at about knee length and I'm 5ft 11, so on most this is more of a true midi skirt. This style is the A-line style and it is lovely and full. The elasticated waist band doesn't roll at all which is always a bonus! I plan on investing in some more all over print skirts, they really make an all black outfit pop and could be dressed up or down.

Much love,
Kitty xxxx

I'm a CowCow Plus Cutie!

Tuesday, 6 September 2016

I am so excited to be able to announce that I am now a Plus Cute brand rep for CowCow!

I've blogged about them several times as I love their pieces, so to be able to be a part of what they do is amazing. I feel so lucky!

It was a vote based contest, which I never expect to do well in. I'm not the biggest fan of them as the winner tends to be whoever has the biggest social media presence, but I really wanted to be a part of their team, so I went for it. And much to my surprise, I was one of the top 3 in the contest so get to be a Plus Cutie!

Expect many more posts of their adorable clothes on all my social media. I'm either kittyramblesalot or kittyrambles on everything. They've really embraced the plus size community and it's so great to see. Their prints fulfill all my teenage greebo dreams, bright, obnoxious, sickly sweet and so much fun.

I can't wait to get started!

Much love,
Kitty xxxx

A Cloudy OOTD

Sunday, 28 August 2016

I've written before about my love of CowCow, they make really cute stretch dresses in fantastic and ridiculous prints. I've got 3 now, the one in this post, a tiger print dress, and a dinosaur print. This dress is the first true skater style dress I've gotten from them and it's definitely my favourite.

How cute is that pink cloud print? They aren't a flat colour and instead have a variety of shades of pink and purple to give them depth. It's so damn adorable and has quickly become a wardrobe favourite for me. I love the length of this dress, above the knee, but not so short I really worry about flashing my butt. For reference, I'm 5ft 11. I sized up in this dress, which is available in up to a 5XL as the others are so short, and I really didn't need to, it's a tad too big on the bust but it'll do me just fine.

I paired it with some old Evans sandals, and a New Look denim jacket I've cut the sleeves off and started to cover in pins. I have a denim jacket I've modified that does have the sleeves, but for those slightly warmer days this is ideal. I feel very rock and roll in it, which is always my aesthetic!

When buying from CowCow, the key things to bare in mind is that while all the dresses describe themselves as skater dresses, they aren't. If you want the style that flares out at the waist like I'm wearing, you need to pick the style shown on their website with the model holding the skirt section of the dress straight out from their waist at 90 degrees, not at 45 degrees. I prefer this style to the other style I have as it's longer on me.

I definitely plan on buying like, all the ridiculous and fun prints I can. I wished for years I could find a plus size stores that sold these sort of dresses and now I've found one I need to collect them all.

Much love,
Kitty xxxx

Much love,
Kitty xxxx
