Lockdown Favourites

Monday, 13 July 2020

In the spirit of maybe sort of getting back into blogging, I figured I'd share some of my favourite things I've been enjoying during lockdown.

The Mountain Range

We ordered my Mum and Stu's Mum Mother's Day gifts from Crafty Glass London, and I've previously bought gifts for my Nanny and Grandad from them as well. Their products are always beautiful, arrive so safely packaged, and I think offer a really unusual gift. I really need to get us something from their range for our house because I love it all and keep buying it for everyone else, except me! Who knew I'd need a stained glass ghost, or a shrimp, or a Snorlax? It's stained glass made modern and quirky and so much fun. I could happily buy myself half their shop if I had the funds! Shopping independently and supporting small businesses is more important than ever because of lockdown.

The Mini Monstera Leaf

PokémonGO

For a game that requires you to go outside and play, they've totally overhauled the game to make it so you can play it from home while it hasn't been safe to go outside. I've particularly been loving the AR photography aspect of the game. I was a photographer before carpal tunnel took that from me, so AR photography using my phone has been a fun way to feel creative without the pain my real camera causes me over time.

They've made Community Day an event we could still enjoy, even though it has to be from your home on your own, and added so many quality of life updates. Shout out to Niantic for working incredibly hard to make a game that is designed to be played out walking so playable at home!

I actually have a whole instagram dedicated just to Pokémon, so if you are also a fan come follow me and the awesome AR community over at https://www.instagram.com/kittypokemonsalot/

Our New Wooden Floor

We got a new floor fitted in our front room about a week before lockdown started. Huge thanks to my Dad, Stu and Cameron for their hardwork getting it done! It meant we overhauled our front room, getting rid of a few pieces of furniture and making it a lot more minimal, and I love it so much more now.

The old carpet was a gross sort of beige sort of gray sort of pinkish colour with some bad staining in some parts I just couldn't get out no matter how I tried. It came with the house so was well overdue replacing. Now we have an ashy wooden floor and it has totally transformed the whole room.

The best and more unexpected part of our new floor is Patches complete obsession with it. She is 22 years old (yes really!) and like a kitten with it. She loves to slide on it chase her toys or anything else she can find that looks fun. Sometimes we catch her charging about on it and she isn't even playing with anything, she just loves to slide on it! It's made her so playful that I think most people would be really shocked to hear her age. She makes this little chirrupy meow when she's playing that I firmly maintain is the cutest noise ever.

What are you recent lockdown faves? I might share my TV show favourites soon.

Much love,
Kitty xxxx

Mid-Year Favourites

Tuesday, 2 July 2019

I used to write 'favourite' themed blog posts fairly regularly. It was an easy way to share all those random little things I've enjoyed recently that don't deserve or require a full blog post. I haven't done one in absolutely ages, certainly not in 2019, so I figure a mid-year 2019 favourites seemed just right.

I love a good pin, and the Secret League do the most amazing Pokemon Go inspired pins. They had a sale earlier in the year so I snagged myself this limited edition Mewtwo pins, and the Level 40 articuno Team Mystic pin. I did get stung by customs on these even though they cost under the threshold on sale, because they put the full price as the value, but they are so well made and cool that I don't mind too much.

This amazing zebra print dress is from the Collusion range by ASOS. It is sadly out of stock now, but here's the funny thing. It's from the straight size range. It goes nowhere near my size, but someone bigger than me could easily have fit in this. It has a shirred top and a very full skirt section making it super comfy and stretchy. Keep an eye on the Collusion range for sure, because I can see them bringing this style back in other colours and prints.

My amazing Bloody Mary Metal moon ring that was a birthday gift from my husband Stu. It's called 'Knox'. Stu has their old style of moon ring, which was set in a more traditional crescent shape rather than on it's side, and he catches it on everything. I never catch on anything with the moon at this angle!

Our new bed! Our old bed was beyond broken. I had bought it 10 years before, incredibly cheaply, and it was always awful. All the lats were snapped, the mattress was long past needing replacing, and it was just so uncomfortable it was unreal. When we ordered our new bed we took apart and broke up our old one, just putting the mattress on the floor. If you've ever slept on a mattress on the floor you know it's not great. It was bliss compared to our old bed! This time round we got a divan style bed, figuring that the biggest problem with our old bed was the crappy lats. It's higher than our old bed and every night we climb into it and it's heaven.

I got to see The Spice Girls live in Coventry! I never got to see them as a kid, so when Stu surprised me with a ticket for Christmas I was unbelievably excited! We had standing tickets, but before they came on stage it was becoming fairly clear that they had mishandled who should have been allowed into the standing area and it was way over full. We opted to pinch a couple of seats and if they turned out to be anyone's we would move. Turns out they were actually empty seats and we stayed in them for the whole concert, we got so lucky, just looking at the amount of people squashed into the standing area was making us anxious. The Spice Girls were absolutely amazing. So much fun and everything I had ever dreamed of. I video called my Mum during 'Mama' and made her cry. Got so many daughter points.

And the final thing, but no photo because I don't want to share it publicly. My new car. A couple of months ago my car suddenly made a weird clicking noise when I turned it on. Had a mechanic come out and look at it and bad news, it needed a new engine. After exploring the cost of putting a new engine in it, it was almost what the car was worth, so I began a new car hunt. I've never picked a car before. I had bought small cars I could afford, or cars from family members, but I had never gone out and actively made a choice that I wanted a particular car before. When I'd test driven one particular car, I fell totally in love. And then I set out the hunt to find it in the colour I wanted to. I had almost given up hope when Stu found the perfect car, in our price range, in the colour I wanted. He had told me he would find me my dream car and he did. I love his determination! It took weeks to finally get my hands on it, and I absolutely adore it. I'll be honest, I've never really looked after a car before. I've always been messy and my cars have always born the brunt of that. Not this car! It's immaculate and I treat it like my baby. I feel incredibly lucky to have been in a position that we could do this and I'm so grateful.

Much love,

Spring Favourites

Tuesday, 1 May 2018

Dare I say it.... it seems to finally be spring! After what feels like a winter that has gone on forever, I am so happy to be in lighter clothes and seeing the sunshine. As I haven't been blogging as much lately, I thought I'd share a few favourites that have cropped up lately that I'm loving in this nicer weather.

You know at this point that I am seriously obsessed with sunglasses, and these Quay Australia beauties my lovely friends Jamalie (Jamie and Natalie!) got me for my birthday are my new faves. I suffer from chronic hemeplegic migraines and cluster headaches, and one of my triggers is weight on my face, but these are super lightweight and comfortable. I'm a taller and larger human, and I find Quay Australia to be generous in their fit and always work well for me.

A post shared by Kitty Morris (@kittyramblesalot) on

Yes, I really am still going on about PokemonGO and how much I love it. The introduction of field research and quests has totally expanded the game in a new and exciting way. Being able to get my first mystical pokemon in the form of Mew was so cool!

If you have hooded lids, or struggle with eye shadow sitting in your crease, or just generally being a pain, Colourpop Super Shock Shadows are what you need. I have never found an eye shadow that doesn't shift with my very hooded lids, but none of the Super Shock range budge. I use them as eyeliner with a very stiff brush under my eyes, but for the actual lid I use my fingers to apply as I find it gets the best coverage and is easy to blend.

You can't see them in this photo, but an absolute spring/summer essential is my favourite Chaffree chub rub shorts. Comfortable, lightweight, high waisted, no rolling or sliding, and no chub rub in sight. I've tried other brands and found they slid down and I felt like I was constantly having to pull them back up, whereas these I don't touch. As soon as it's warm enough my legs are out but my thighs are protected with these shorts.

OK technically Creep 2 was released in 2017, but I didn't see it until 2018 so I'm including it. I'm a huge fan of found footage horror movies and Creep is one of my all time favourites, and the sequel did not disappoint. There is a part 3 coming eventually and I already can't wait!

What are your favourite things from spring so far?

My Favourite Outfits of 2017

Thursday, 4 January 2018

Is it really a new year if you don't do the odd round up post to show your faves from the previous year? I don't think so! I have plans for two favourite blogs, this one will be all about my favourite outfits that I shared on my blog in 2017. I didn't share anywhere near as many as I would have liked, particularly late in the year because of my operation, but hopefully 2018 will be much more fashion themed! So, here's my fave looks that I shared last year.

One of the few 'work wear' looks I've ever done, and a real outfit I wear regularly! 2017 reignited my love of skirts, and got me into shirts, something I had never really worn before. I've worn this look or a variation on it so many times since I first photographed it!

Quite possibly my favourite outfit of all time! This mesh dress is my absolute go-to for nights out. I damaged the hem recently and desperately got my Nanna to fix it because I am obsessed with this dress. Lace and mesh and a harness, it's a perfect 'me' outfit. Being plus size often means settling for things that aren't quite your style, this look is 100% Kitty with no settling at all. It's me, truly.

2017 was also the year I fell in love with oversized, relatively shapeless pieces. It's one of those things that plus size bodies are told to simultaneously wear to hide their shape, and never wear because it doesn't give the illusion of shape. Bare legs, a comfy dress, and a cameo from my pooch, can't go wrong.

I could easily have included basically every outfit I wore last year that featured Navabi, but this grunge inspired look is my fave. Glittery boots and a dress that matches my hair, love! Navabi are my stand out brand of 2017 for so many reasons (but that's a whole other post) and this dress is one of many reasons why.

2017 was a year of skirts and dresses for me, what items did you fall in love with?

Autumn Favourites

Thursday, 16 November 2017

It's been a while since I've written a favourites post, but I figured it was about time I shared some of my recent faves for autumn!

First up it has to be this lush Navabi dress that I blogged about in detail here. It's one of the softest and comfiest things I've ever owned and I love it.

A post shared by Kitty Morris (@kittyramblesalot) on

October saw the release of the first ever generation III Pokemon in a PokemonGO Halloween event and I caught my first ever shiny Pokemon too! I'm so excited for the full release of gen III and I'm still playing as much as ever. I also managed to get invites to two EX-raids and caught two Mewtwos!

A post shared by Kitty Morris (@kittyramblesalot) on

My best friend Fal got married! She doesn't have her official photos back yet so here's a sneaky selfie of me and my husband Stu. She also married a fantastic man called Stu, we take this whole best friends thing very seriously! I had the absolute honour of being a bridesmaid, I've attempted to be someone's bridesmaid before, which ended in total disaster (read about that mess here) and had such an awesome day. I cried almost constantly from when I woke up with total joy and love. Magic day!

These ASOS boots! ASOS have started selling up to a size UK10EEE in their women's range so you know I had to try them and I am obsessed with these boots. Glitter platform boots of my dreams!

My hair colour. So, believe it or not, I used La Riche Directions in Violet, and somehow ended up with teal hair. Thankfully I adore it, which is a good job, because blues and greens are so hard to strip out of hair!
We saw Metallica! Back in April for my husband's birthday I went really OTT and got him Metallica tickets. He is a massive fan (this was his 16th time seeing them) and they were brilliant live. They did a really touching to the victims of the Manchester Arena attack which was fitting as it was at Manchester Arena.

And finally, in a weird thing I love about autumn, the cold, and how cuddlier it makes my cats! They all love exploring when it's warm, but now it's cold they are all loving being snuggled up with me and I love it. Nothing better than coming home to one cuddly pooch and three loving kitties!

What are your favourite things about autumn?

2016 Favourites

Sunday, 1 January 2017

For the first blog of 2017, I thought I'd share some of my favourite things of 2016!

Favourite Song - Daddy Lessons by Beyoncé and The Dixie Chicks

I fell absolutely in love with this song after hearing it at the CMAs. I haven't listened to all of Lemonade yet, but this song is fantastic. It's catchy country as it's best and I love it. Beyonce emerging as a political artist this year has been so incredible.

Favourite Shopping Website - ASOS Curve

This year I've bought so much from ASOS Curve. Getting Premier was a real bargain for how much I buy from them, and getting points that turn into vouchers as part of ASOS A-List is awesome! They release so many new pieces daily that there's always something new to look at. It's my go-to place for basics and it's very reasonably priced. Even my bridesmaid dresses were from ASOS.

Favourite Makeup Company - Makeup Revolution and Colourpop

It's a tie for this one as I couldn't pick just one. The Makeup Revolution eye shadow palettes are just everything and I use them daily, they are particularly great for travelling. Colourpop are my fave for lip products and both are cruelty free! The Makeup Revolution advent calendar was a particular highlight.

Favourite Movie - I am reasonably sure I haven't seen a movie that was released this year, I haven't even seen the new Star Trek yet which is very unlike me. It's not been a year of films for me!

Favourite TV Show - The Walking Dead & Luke Cage

I hadn't seen The Walking Dead till this year but we binge watched the whole thing and are now up to date. I love it! Daryl and Michonne are my favourites, she's such a bad ass. Negan is also the best villain I've come across in a long time, he really enjoys being a villain and is great to love to hate. It has it's problems, but it has some really strong female characters that don't need anyone to save them and I love that.

Luke Cage was incredible for totally different reasons. Taking the Luke Cage story and setting it in modern day Harlem and making it political was a brilliant choice, and it is the incredible story of a reluctant superhero. It discusses the Black Lives Matters movement, it celebrates blackness, and it is so powerful. The images of Luke Cage in his hoodie, impenetrable by bullets, defending his neighbourhood as a hero are something else.

Favourite Clothing Company - Navabi

Consistently wonderful, a stunning range of clothing, the best customer service, and they are never, ever problematic. They celebrate plus size bodies and are proud to cater for us. Love them! Plus size brands need to take note of Navabi and see how they run their social media and learn all of the things.

Favourite Event - Easy choice, our wedding! Best day of my life and just ridiculously fun. Everything went so perfectly and I got to marry my best friend. Yay! Being married is so wonderful and I am so lucky to have Stu.

What were your 2016 favourites?

Much love,

December and January Favourites

Sunday, 31 January 2016

I didn't do a December favourites blog post, as instead I did a Christmas haul on my YouTube channel to show you what I got. So now January is at it's close I thought I'd get back to it! I'm going to share a variety of things I picked up between December and January, but not anything I got for Christmas, as I've talked about them on YouTube.

I have become totally obsessed with the app Neko Atsume. It's like, my idea of heaven. You set up toys and food in your yard to lure cats in to play and try to collect them all! It's so cute, and you can take photos of the adorable visitors you get. There are certain themed rare cats that are just adorable and need special toys and food to lure them in. So obviously I've dedicated all my spare time to finding them!

I picked up this adorable faux suede skater skirt in the New Look sale for only £6! I think it's the sort of piece that I'll be able to wear throughout the year in every season. It's very comfy, super cute and a really nice length.

As ever, my Crown & Glory Glitterati subscription box was a total win, with this adorable cloud hair clip/brooch being my stand out piece from it. It's so cute! And has been rather apt for the weather this month. You can see everything I got in this box in my unboxing video on YouTube here.

OK, so I said I wasn't going to feature any Christmas presents, but this one deserves a special mention! My Mum picked me up this Barry M Nail Corrector Pen and it's brilliant. I love painting my nails, but I am terrible at it, as evidenced in the photo on the left. This pen cleaned my shocking paint job up so quickly, and it smells like melons!

These holographic ASOS sneakers are a dream. I have been lusting after a pair of iridescent/holographic shoes for the longest time, and finally found these in the men's section in a size that would actually fit me, yay!

I have fallen totally in love with Makeup Revolution Lip Lacquer. In this photo I'm wearing 'Keep lying for you'. They are super pigmented and last incredibly well. I bought 3, and ordered a few more straight away.

I bought this adorable velveteen dress in both red and black from Everything5Pounds. I love the 3/4 sleeves and the mini dress length, and what a bargain at £5. It's a different shape to what I would usually wear too which is always good to mix up.

Yours Clothing Ankle Boots with Cleated Heels

I grabbed these in the January sale and I've worn them so much. Now I know Yours Clothing do a size 10 I'm forever checking out their site!

I actually bought this in summer last year, but only just got around to hanging it. It was bought from Ebay, and I love it. However Stu hates it haha! So I decided that the room I use for my YouTube filming is the perfect spot for it, so he doesn't have to look at it and I can all the time! It's so amazingly over the top, like an ugly jumper that rocks.

What bargains did you pick up this month?

September Favourites

Sunday, 4 October 2015

I tend to start writing my monthly favourites blog as soon as I get anything I want to include in it! So I generally start writing it about the 10th of the month and add to it so I don't forget anything. I get so excited to share my favourites, it's the videos I love the most on Youtube, and my favourite sort of blog too!

So technically this is an August fave, but I got it done so late that I didn't manage to include it in my blog. My beautiful, one session off being finished, leg sleeve by Keely Rutherford of Jolie Rouge. Read the full blog post about it, including lots of progress shots, here. It's a London based studio, but well worth the travel. They have such incredibly talented artists, and are a bunch of sweethearts too!

One of my selfies got featured on the Eff Your Beauty Standards instagram and facebook was pretty awesome! I took these mirror selfies in my local feeling super cute and was so thrilled to see them shared! I'm also wearing a new fave dress in this photo from Pink Clove, that I loved so much I bought the black version too!

Crown & Glory Rainbow Rose Headband

When I saw this headband on Crown & Glory's Depop at £12.50 I immediately bought it! Apparently it is a 'slight second'. I have no idea how! I bloody love it.

ASOS Curve Dress

I bloody love this dress! I love how 80's it is, and I love that it is such a different colour from anything I've ever worn before. I wore it to a wedding (full blog post and more photos here) and felt amazing. It also comes in orange, which is seriously tempting me!

Brave Soul Sneakers from ASOS

Stu really loves this style of shoe because they are ridiculously comfy, and whilst eyeing him up a silver faux snake skin pair, I spotted these and had to have them. £7 in the sale! Since I got them they've basically been glued to my feet. You can see how I wore them here. If I don't have to wear socks, I'm happy!

Crown & Glory Lotta Rosie Headband

Part of my Glitterati box (full blog post here), this is the piece that stood out for me. The colours remind me of berries and hawthorn, perfect for autumn!

This Missguided dress that I blogged about here. I feel so cute wearing it!

My first Lindy Bop dress, read the full blog post here. I felt so cute!

I went to Hull New Theatre to see Northern Ballet perform their version of Madame Butterfly, and just wow. I've been lucky enough to catch the Northern Ballet perform a few different pieces, and this has to be my favourite. It was so incredibly well done, utterly heartbreaking and devastating. I had been curious as to how an opera would translate into a ballet, and they did the most incredible job. That last scene.... just wow. It moved us all to tears. Stunning use of lighting and music really amplified every emotion.

My photoshoot with Charlotte Hatt and Mary Burgers, which you can find the full details of over here. A true plus size collaboration! They are both such bad ass and inspiring babes. Mary has moved back the the USA for now and I miss her so much!

And finally...

The Curve Fashion Festival, which I have blogged about here, and here! It was so much fun, and I met so many wonderful people. I can't wait to go to another event and see these babes again.

What were your September faves? I love autumn, so share with me please!

Much love,
