In The Style Curve x The Curve Fashion Festival Giveaway*

Wednesday, 28 June 2017

I am always excited when a new brand take the plunge into plus size fashion, and I'm always even more thrilled when they start going up to a size 28 as standard right from the start! In The Style are a brand known for their fashion forward pieces and celebrity ranges, so I couldn't wait to see what they released. They did not disappoint! Their range is on trend and full of fun pieces, so when given a chance to try out one of their dresses for myself I leaped at the chance!

I tried out the 'Curve Binky Red Floral Bardot Swing Dress*' £27 and it's gorgeous. I love a bardot dress, and this one has just the right amount of elastic that it doesn't ride up as you wear it. It's a comfy, light material that makes it perfect for summer parties, and it doesn't crease easily which is a bonus!

As you can see, it's slightly longer at the back, and the hem raises slightly at the sides. I'm 5ft 11, so for me personally it didn't work the best as a dress. I could wear it, but I couldn't guarantee I wasn't going to flash anyone while I walked around! I popped a plain black jersey pencil skirt underneath it just to give me a bit more coverage. In The Style are known for their super short styles so if you love to flash some leg, check out their range, I have my eye on so many other dresses right now.

And so, to the exciting part of the blog, the giveaway! I have a £50 voucher for In The Style Curve and a pair of tickets for The Curve Fashion Festival to giveaway to one lucky winner! To enter, use the Rafflecopter widget below.

The contest will end next Wednesday, so you have a week to win, good luck!

Much love,
 Kitty xxxx

Curve Fashion Festival 2016

Tuesday, 13 September 2016

This was my second year attending the Curve Fashion Festival, this year hosted in lovely Liverpool! it brings together plus size brands to showcase different fashions with catwalk events, talks and more. But for me, the day is really about the blogger friends I see there, they are what makes it a brilliant day for me.

What I wore! A fabulous 'Kitty' tutu (named after me!) by Tutu Factory*, a super old top that I've cut the tag out of, heels from Yours Clothing, and necklace by BloodyMary Metal. Big thanks to Hollie of Pretty Big Butterflies for taking this for me! I wanted cute but comfy and this definitely fit the bill. I don't usually wear heels, but these are so easy to wear and soft on the soles of your feet. They've had them in rose gold so I'm desperately hoping them come back in in my size!

Me, Sarah of Plus Size & Proud, and Debz of Not So Secret Diary of a Wannabe Princess all wore tutus, so we had to have a photo together! Mine and Sarah's are both Tutu Factory, and Debz's is Society+. I love that you can see what the same thing looks like on two completely different body types! I'm 5ft 11 and Sarah is 4ft 10, but we are wearing the same style tutu, though mine is the longest length they do and I suspect Sarah's isn't.

So I met Naomi of Diamonds & Pearls, and wow does she just light up a room! Her smile is so infectious and she's so sweet. And you know I just had to spend most of my time with my darling Steph of Nerdabouttown. I just completely adore her!

The lovely folks at SimplyBe kindly sent me to TCFF, so huge thanks guys! Even if it did take me and Steph 4 photos to figure out how to use your photobooth properly haha.

I missed Gloria Shuri Henry last year, so I wasn't going to do the same again this year! I happened to be in the lobby as she arrived so took her photo and got a selfie before we wandered for a bit. Gloria and her husband are total dolls and I'm so glad we got to chat.

I had to get another selfie with Tess Holliday. She was super busy so we didn't get much chance to chat, but me and Steph had a good natter with Nick Holliday about music. Baby Bowie was there too, he just slept all day, such a quiet good baby!

I also met the hilarious Sandi and Sandra of Gogglebox. These ladies are just a whirlwind of laughs! What treasures!

Big thanks to these two lovelies who made my day by wanting their photo taken with me! When you blog it can be hard to know who is really reading what you write, or who is it impacting upon, but to have someone come up to you in person and tell you that they read your blog and find you inspiring, it's so humbling. Thank you so so much, you made my day!

In total contrast, I once again turned fan girl for Hayley Hasselhoff who remembered me from last year which absolutely made me smile. I mean, just look at her! Looking at this photo I seriously need to learn to do my makeup better, that highlight!

And finally, I got to meet Bethany of ArchedEyebrow in person after much nattering on twitter, and she's just as awesome IRL as she is online. She's exactly the same. So I had to drag her in a photobooth with me. Look how good we look!

I did not take nearly enough selfies with people, I always end up forgetting and getting carried away on the day. TCFF is a fantastic day because of the people who attend it. Spending time with all the bloggers I talk to everyday online is a rarity, so getting to have so many of us together is a real treat. There is shopping to do, and catwalks, and a couple of talks, but there isn't that much to do if you don't know a lot of the people at the event. It's still in it's infancy so hopefully will continue to grow and improve! It's one of the few events up North so much easier for me to attend than anything in London. As a blogger I love the event because of the people there, but if I wasn't a blogger I don't think I could make a proper day of it like we did.

Thanks to Alfie for the group shot!

Thank you so much to everyone who let me take their photo for new project She Might Be... you'll find out more real soon!

Much love,
Kitty xxxx

2015.

Thursday, 31 December 2015

2015 was been a hell of a year. It's had ups, and more downs that I would care to remember, and there are loved ones who aren't here to see in the new year that I wish more than anything were here. I thought I'd do a little summary of some of the good bits of 2015, those moments I want to remember and celebrate.

I went to Tattoo Tea Party and got tattooed by Keely Rutherford. It was a really great event with some incredible artists, and it was fun to get tattooed in a totally different environment and see how I dealt with it. Plus, True Romance inspired moth!

I surprised Stu with a tattoo by Lawrence Canham for his 40th birthday. He was so excited, and Lawrence totally blew us both away with his work. It was so fun being able to surprise Stu!

I went to a Scarlett & Jo meet up in Sheffield hosted by Georgina Grogan. It was the first time I had met any other plus size bloggers, and it was so lovely to finally get to!

Festivals! Stu and I went to 2 fake festivals this summer, Boltfest and Feswich, and had such an awesome time. It is always good to get away from home with the one you love and adventure. These are both actually free festivals and so so good for free!

I got Botox! I vlogged and blogged about it, but the short version is this - I have had serious chronic headaches and migraines for the last 6 years that have left me in pain everyday, in and out of hospital, and generally limited in what I could do. Botox has given me my life back and allows me to live a pretty normal life which is something I truly believed was only a dream for me. I love the NHS!

I went to London and met Steph from Nerd About Town. Ever meet someone and feel like you've known them forever and just totally adore them right away? Yeah, that happened. What an absolute babe.

I got my tattoos turned into a lower leg sleeve by Keely Rutherford! I have one more session to go before it is finished, but I love my leg soooooo much. Isn't it the prettiest?!

I went to the Curve Fashion Festival and met more amazing ladies than I could ever have dreamed of! To be surrounded by so many incredible and inspiring people was just brilliant, and I met people I just know I will be friends with for the longest time.

I did a whole ton of photoshoots but I'm going to feature my favourite photos of the year in a seperate blog post.

These are my top instagram photos of 2015! This was so fun to see. It's totally different from last year's top photos on my instagram which was all my photography of models instead.

And finally, but so so importantly, Sinbad joined our furbaby family! Every day all my fur children just totally blow me away with their love. I feel so honoured to be their Momma! Sinbad has been through such a trauma with getting shot in the eye, a new home, and losing his eye, and he is still the sweetest and loveliest little handsome man. He follows me around all the time and sleeps on my back. MY HEART <3 He makes me have all the feels. All of them!

What were your 2015 highlights? What gave you all the fuzzies?
Much love,
Kitty xxxx

I snagged myself some bargains in the Asda George sale!

September Favourites

Sunday, 4 October 2015

I tend to start writing my monthly favourites blog as soon as I get anything I want to include in it! So I generally start writing it about the 10th of the month and add to it so I don't forget anything. I get so excited to share my favourites, it's the videos I love the most on Youtube, and my favourite sort of blog too!

So technically this is an August fave, but I got it done so late that I didn't manage to include it in my blog. My beautiful, one session off being finished, leg sleeve by Keely Rutherford of Jolie Rouge. Read the full blog post about it, including lots of progress shots, here. It's a London based studio, but well worth the travel. They have such incredibly talented artists, and are a bunch of sweethearts too!

One of my selfies got featured on the Eff Your Beauty Standards instagram and facebook was pretty awesome! I took these mirror selfies in my local feeling super cute and was so thrilled to see them shared! I'm also wearing a new fave dress in this photo from Pink Clove, that I loved so much I bought the black version too!

Crown & Glory Rainbow Rose Headband

When I saw this headband on Crown & Glory's Depop at £12.50 I immediately bought it! Apparently it is a 'slight second'. I have no idea how! I bloody love it.

ASOS Curve Dress

I bloody love this dress! I love how 80's it is, and I love that it is such a different colour from anything I've ever worn before. I wore it to a wedding (full blog post and more photos here) and felt amazing. It also comes in orange, which is seriously tempting me!

Brave Soul Sneakers from ASOS

Stu really loves this style of shoe because they are ridiculously comfy, and whilst eyeing him up a silver faux snake skin pair, I spotted these and had to have them. £7 in the sale! Since I got them they've basically been glued to my feet. You can see how I wore them here. If I don't have to wear socks, I'm happy!

Crown & Glory Lotta Rosie Headband

Part of my Glitterati box (full blog post here), this is the piece that stood out for me. The colours remind me of berries and hawthorn, perfect for autumn!

This Missguided dress that I blogged about here. I feel so cute wearing it!

My first Lindy Bop dress, read the full blog post here. I felt so cute!

I went to Hull New Theatre to see Northern Ballet perform their version of Madame Butterfly, and just wow. I've been lucky enough to catch the Northern Ballet perform a few different pieces, and this has to be my favourite. It was so incredibly well done, utterly heartbreaking and devastating. I had been curious as to how an opera would translate into a ballet, and they did the most incredible job. That last scene.... just wow. It moved us all to tears. Stunning use of lighting and music really amplified every emotion.

My photoshoot with Charlotte Hatt and Mary Burgers, which you can find the full details of over here. A true plus size collaboration! They are both such bad ass and inspiring babes. Mary has moved back the the USA for now and I miss her so much!

And finally...

The Curve Fashion Festival, which I have blogged about here, and here! It was so much fun, and I met so many wonderful people. I can't wait to go to another event and see these babes again.

What were your September faves? I love autumn, so share with me please!

Much love,
Kitty xxxxx

Curve Fashion Festival II

Thursday, 1 October 2015

I took so many photos at The Curve Fashion Festival that rather than totally bombard you with them, I put all the selfies in one, and all the photos I took to document the day in here!

So I couldn't resist sneaking some photos of Tess Holliday's meet and greet when I saw some of my lovely blogger babes were next up. I didn't do any of the meet and greets, but I did manage to speak to everyone I wanted to and get photos anyway!

Amanda Apparel and Tess

Lottie L'Amour and Tess

Lisa Reilly allowed me a cheeky snap of her on her Just Be You stand.

Hayley Hasslehoff and Kat Henry, Ms British Beauty Curve 2015.

Georgina Grogan wearing a gorgeous LovedRobe dress.

I photographed all my favourite runway looks featuring the gorgeous ladies of Hughes Models.

Elia Johnson in Elvi

Nyamka in Missguided

Kira M in Boohoo

Nyamka in Boohoo

Susie Day in Elvi

Bo in Evans

Elia Johnson in Missguided

Lauren Leigh Frederick in Missguided

Susie Day in Studio 8

I've tried to link back to all the fab models as much as possible, but I am missing a couple, so if you see yourself or someone you know please let me know!

The last event of the day involved a panel with Lisa Reilly, Hayley Hasslehoff and Tess Holliday. I didn't see it all, but I did manage to sneak in and get some photos that really made me smile. They all came across really well, and seem to really care about what they are doing for plus size women, and in plus size fashion.

I had such an amazing day, and I cannot wait for next year!

Much love,
