Christmas Loveliness

Wednesday 31 December 2014

I was so lucky this Christmas! My loved ones totally spoiled me. We are really into Christmas and love giving gifts. I finally got a chance to photograph some of the lovely things I was given to share with you guys.

This amazing candle holder was a gift from my parents. We saw it when we were in Chester earlier in the year and were so pleased when someone agreed to get it for us for Christmas. It's such an unusual statement piece! It's front and centre in our bay window in the front room and I love it so much!

My brother and his girlfriend Jess got us these amaaazing stag head pillows! I love them so much! They got us two of each, so one of each is on each sofa and they look so cute. They are really soft and beautifully made. Such a thoughtful gift featuring one of my favourite things, stags!

I could not believe it when we opened this. Our adorable friend Chacha got us a Pyro Pet! If you haven't heard of these, go check out their website. As these candles burn, they reveal a cat skeleton underneath!! I can't wait to burn it and see the process. So amazing.

My Uncle made us this! How cool is that? He is really into woodwork, and carved this for us out of some beautiful wood. Having something handmade is so special, thank you Rob!

My Auntie and Uncle also got me this stunning Rosa Pietsch necklace. The design on this is so intricate and lovely. It's really different and I've already asked for more from Rosa Pietsch for my birthday in February. I love the lunar theme that is throughout Rosa's designs.

There may be a slight stag theme to my Christmas presents... This adorable ceramic stag's head is from my friend Max. It was totally unexpected, and so wonderfully me. Thank you Max! He looks like he is knitted, but he's actually totally solid, I love the style.

How amazing is this?! My Nanna got me this 'Dead Tidy' for my desk at work. He's so awesome!! You stab the pens into him to keep your desk clean. I love him!

This was been on my Sugar & Vice wishlist for such a long time. I love the colours of autumn, and the mirrored acrylic used in this necklace are perfect for it. My Auntie is really great for helping me support small businesses. Don't forget, you can still support their Indiegogo campaign to help them get back on their feet after their recent fire!

This hologram clutch from ASOS is lush. The colours as it moves in the light are wonderful. It's a really good size for fitting my wallet, keys, lipstick and phone in. Thanks Nanna!

Stu's brother Simon got me this badass Heavy Metal activity book! It's hilarious. From 'Join the dots on Lemmy's face' and Satanic Sudoku this is awesome.

Stu's Mum got us a George Foreman! We've wanted one for ages, and she bought us one. Thank you so much!

Stu's brother Simon and his girlfriend Claire also got us this amazing Crystal Skull Vodka!! It's bloody amazing. I wish I drank. However, I am going to encourage Stu to drink it so I can reuse the skull as a vase or something.

My Mum got me this Crystal Antler necklace from BloodyMary Metal. I featured it on my blog a while ago and she is sneaky and got me it after seeing that. Sneaker! It's a lovely length and perfect to wear with so many of my outfits.

My Mum has had a Scentsy burner for a while and kept recommending we get one, so instead she got us this skull one for Christmas. Much like a traditional candle burner that you put wax tarts in, this takes little wax cubes that smell divine and it lights up while it warms the tart. It's so cool! The scent is quite strong, so you only need half of one of the little squares you buy, which means a pack of 8 is actually 16. So it's gonna last ages!

My parents also spoiled me with this unbelievable new lens. I took all the photos on this blog with it and love it already. The quality is amazing and it's so sturdy, you can feel the quality of the glass from the weight of it.

And the final, and totally best present, my engagement ring from Stu. It's so gorgeous and I am on such a crazy high still! I'm gonna get married to the man of my dreams!! I love you Stu!! Best day of my life so far.

I hope your Christmas was fantastic too, and that you have an amazing new year.

Much love,
Kitty xxxxx

Help Sugar & Vice get their Christmas Miracle!

Tuesday 30 December 2014

Last night at Sugar & Vice's HQ a fire destroyed their lasercutter. Thanks to some awful fine print it isn't covered by their insurance as initially thought, and without this, Sugar & Vice can't continue. You may have noticed that I adore S & V. I've become quite good friends with Sarah, and I was absolutely gutted to read the news.

To help Sugar & Vice get back on their feet, there is an Indiegogo Campaign you can donate to! I've donated, and it is has been wonderful seeing how any people have. If you can't donate, please share the link and help out Sarah and Matt, two wonderful creatives.

Please check out the link and help if you can <3

Help Sugar & Vice get the best start to the new year that they can! All the jewellery featured in this post is by S & V and I adore it all!

Much love,

The Best Christmas Ever

Sunday 28 December 2014

So this Christmas I got something I wasn't expecting.... a fiancè! Best Christmas present ever.

We woke up about 7:40, and Stu asked if I wanted my present, I said no, let's just have a snuggle before we get up, and he insisted on giving me it. A felt bag that looked like Santa. I opened it and inside was a bag. I opened that and inside was a box. And inside that was a box. And inside that a box. And inside that, the box. I opened it. A stunning ring looked back at me, with a slip of paper inside, which read...

(Steff is my real name, but everyone calls me Kitty most of the time)

I freaked. I think I actually said yes about 20 times and cried for about the next hour I was so happy.

Stu picked my ring out by himself, and picked the right size. It's a black diamond surrounded by diamonds. It's absolutely stunning, so me and just perfect.

Isn't it stunning?! So glad my Mum got me to paint my nails! A lot of my family knew, and a lot of Stu's, as well as some of our friends. I had no idea! Stu asked my Dad for permission at his 50th birthday party back in September. Just wow. I can't believe he kept it quiet for so long!

My Dad took some photos of us with his proper camera that I'll post up when he sends me them, we are planning on getting one of them framed for the house.

I couldn't wait to tell my family, I facetimed my Nanna and Grandad and Auntie and Uncle, and got to tell my Grandma and Grandad face to face. Then I texted everyone else important, snapchatted my bestie and then posted on facebook because I couln't hide my excitement any longer and not tell everyone!

Happy faces! We are having an engagement party in February and we can start planning the wedding!! Yay!

Much love,
the happiest Kitty ever

The Abstract Collection

Tuesday 23 December 2014

Some of you may remember my first post about Sugar & Vice's new subscription box, well..... box 2 came! The Abstract Collection was the new collection featured in this box, and I was so excited to get it. It is £39 every 3 months, and new subscriptions open in the run up to the next box.

As ever, it came presented in a stunning box with the Sugar & Vice logo printed onto it in silver foil. These presentation boxes are gorgeous and mean if you were giving these as a gift, it comes wonderfully presented.

OK, so at this point Ashen decided he wanted to help model the new box. We opened it up to see the adorable card and packaging inside.

Yes Ashen, you are very handsome and helpful.

I moved the packaging, and found a candy cane and a chocolate coin, and the ever so exciting black bags that mean you have to open up every piece individually to find out what you go!

The first thing I opened is this gorgeous purple glittery heart ring. It's so cute! This isn't currently listed on the website.

The Art Deco Necklace £15

The first thing I noticed was the Sugar & Vice tag. With the Halloween collection, the tag was a little black coffin, with the Abstract collection it is a little triangle. I love the attention to detail! My photo does not do this justice at all. It is actually a pink and purple necklace with a wooden top and gold sections.

Aztec Arrow Necklace £14

I love the mix of textures in this! Wood, then red glitter, a matte blue, and a mirrored green point at the bottom. This is available in a variety of different colours, and I'd have been happy with any of them! Super cute.

Blue Cube Necklace

Now this is the exclusive design only available to subscribers. I love it! The shades of blue mean this looks so different from every angle, and it's an awesome and unusual statement piece.

Colour Wheel Necklace £15

I had all my fingers and toes crossed that I would get this necklace! It's just... wow. I love it so much. The rainbow of colours, the size, aaaah it's my favourite. Love love love!

There are sooo many pieces from this collection that I still want. Dear Santa, please!

Much love,
Kitty xxxxx

Adventures with Mary Burgers

Saturday 20 December 2014

When Mary Burgers posted on her tumblr that she was moving to England for a year, to Sheffield no less, I was thrilled. I had previously messaged her and we had chatted about how much I wanted to photograph her and how awesome I think she was. I fan-girled quite a lot actually. So I figured I may as well message her again and hopefully I hadn't creeped her out too much! Luckily for me, Mary was super eager to shoot, yay!

We set a date for a cold December Saturday and as soon as I met Mary I knew I was totally right, she was indeed awesome and we had so much fun! Mary and I have quite a similar body shape, so shared the woes of plus size girls with bellies and no boobs, nattered about all sorts, and got to eat the most amazing brownies too.

First off, while it was still light out, I took Mary to my favourite woodland location and she looked all adorable. You would never have known it was barely above 1°c! She is a right trooper.

And of course, I got Mary in her pants.

My Mum's cat Rokki couldn't resist getting in on the posing action!

Dat face!

I also broke out my old favourite prop, Minnie Mouse ears.

I want to photograph more plus size babes so bad! Get in touch if you want to collaborate <3

I had the most awesome day with Mary, and I hope we get to shoot again before she runs off back to the US. She is a total sweetheart and we spent the whole day laughing, which is just the best sort of day!

Much love,
Kitty xxxxx

Pretty in Pink

Wednesday 17 December 2014

Dress - Simply Be (bought second hand from eBay)
Denim jacket - New Look (modified by me)
Tights - Evans (modified by me)
Boots - Demonia

I went to a friend of Stu's engagement party recently and this was my outfit! The dress was a big risk for me, it's a lot shorter than I usually feel comfortable in, but the dress was so cute I couldn't resist, and I felt fab wearing it! I feel really bad ass when I wear my ripped up tights and boots, and thought it helped keep the outfit on the smart casual side as we were going to a local pub, not anywhere fancy. And I always feel the need to wear my denim jacket. I bloody adore it.

It makes me happy that I'm feeling braver and wearing things out of my comfort zone. I try to encourage people to do it but struggle so much to do it myself. Yay for a little success! It is so close to Christmas now, I'm hoping to get a few more cute outfit photos to post through till the new year!

Much love,

Christmas is here!

Wednesday 10 December 2014

This year Stu and I decided we wanted to get a real Christmas tree for the front room. That lovely smell, they are just so much prettier, and it could be a new Christmas tradition for us. We got our tree from a local farm, Town Gate Farm. We picked out a Nordman Fir, a variety that is supposed to hold it's needles better. It was the most expensive type, but I still think a bargain at £42!

You may notice there is a key part of our Christmas tree missing.... the star at the top. As it turns out, we don't have one! Last year we had a butterfly on the top but the clip on it has broken, so we are hoping to find a star for it I think. I hate tinsel, so it's a tinsel-free tree, sorry if you like it, but it really doesn't do it for me. We have two trees in our house, this one that I decorate, and then what we like to call the 'Christmas vomit tree' which Stu's two youngest kids do. And that will have aaaaall the tinsel on it anyone could possibly fit on a tree.

Personalised Christmas Bauble £5

Two of my favourite baubles, two custom Sugar & Vice baubles. One with a True Romance quote, which is mine and Stu's favourite film, and one with our names on :) The Kitty and Stu one is from last year, which is why it has little marks on it, it's covered in glitter from being stored with all the glittery baubles!

Sugar & Vice Heart Bauble (no longer available)

Sugar & Vice skull bauble (no longer available)

Merry Effing Christmas Bauble £3.50 or 4 for £10.50

When we saw these, Stu had to have them! Wooden laser cut baubles with a naughty twist.

Crystal Skull Bauble £3.50 or 4 for £10.50

New this year to Sugar & Vice, these reflect the light from our lights so beautifully!

Gemstone Bauble Set £12

An awesome set of 6 different shape and colour gemstones, these look great with the lights behind them.

A robin bauble from Asda last year to represent Stu's daughter.... guess what her name is?

An owl, cause Stu has a total obsession with owls. He is so funny looking I couldn't not get him. Also from Asda last year.

I really like how the clear baubles with stuff inside look. There is probably a technical name for these but I have no idea what it is. Also from Asda last year.

A new one for Stu this year, he's a postie and I could not resist! It's really solid and heavy duty. £2 from Asda.

I maaaaybe have a little thing for stags as Christmas decorations. Our tree is covered in them. Most of them are from Brigg Garden Centre, and cost at the most £3 each, and some of them are massive. If you have kids, Brigg Garden Centre is a total must. Their Santa is wonderful and so so funny, and they have some gorgeous Christmas decorations. I could have spent a fortune.

I am so excited for Christmas this year!

Much love,
Kitty xxxxx
