Colourpop Lips : Lux Lipsticks and New Theory Set

Tuesday, 29 May 2018

Part 2 of my Colourpop Haul! This time, some of the lip products I ordered. I ordered a set of lippie stix called New Theory, and one of the brand new lux lipsticks.

I absolutely LOVE the packaging for this set. Butterflies and succulents are some of my favourite things so I just had to snap this up! The yellow is a sleeve that is removed to reveal the blue case below.

It comes with six lippie stix in a variety of finishes. The lippie stix have the addition of silver butterflies on the caps which is a cute way to tie it into the box.

Left to right - Ink Blot (matte), Sike (matte), Little Tings (creme), Lullaby (matte x), Fly-Fi (matte x) and Persuasion (matte).

Usually in the Colourpop lippe stix sets I find there are one or two shades that I would consider to be too light, but in this I didn't have that problem at all. I think my favourite shade of the bunch is Persuasion, I love purple tones and it's a gorgeous plum tone The creme finishes are a bit softer than the matte and matte x finishes, and the matte x is a truly matte finish.

The lux lipstick is a brand new product to Colourpop, and the packaging is totally different for them. It has a rose gold finish and is so heavyweight in comparison to their other lip products. It really really luxury and high end.

Left is Unravelled the lux lipstick, next to Persuasion, a lippie stix. It's another stunning purple tone that is perfect for summer. It went on incredibly smoothly in one swipe! The lux lipstick lasted really well for me, just drinking it looked exactly the same after 6 hours of wear with no feathering or wear in the inner lip at all. It also easily lasted through a lasagne!

I know I'm going to get really good use out of all these colours, and I know they are really comfortable to wear.

Much love,

Colourpop Perks of Being A Wildflower

Friday, 7 July 2017

As any of my readers know by now, I'm a bit Colourpop obsessed. I've always been a purple toned lipstick kind of a gal, but since I first got my mitts on their lipsticks I've gone wild and want every colour. Like Pokemon, but with lipstick, gotta have 'em all! I'd never been one for the more natural and nude tones, but now I really am. So I had to pick up the Sonya Esman lippie stix collab 'Perks of Being a Wildflower'.

This is a set of what Colourpop call their 'on the go' lippie stix, they are a mini size, at .55g per lippie instead of the usual 1.0g. Slightly over half the weight, but definitely half the size in terms of the packing, making them really handy to throw in your handbag. They'd fit in even the smallest of bags for a night out, or even a coin purse!

Left to right -

California Lovers, Empire State of Mind, Toronto Terrace and St. Petersburg.

The set also includes a clear primer lippie stix, but that isn't visible in swatches so I didn't bother. I find it adds a good moisturising layer underneath them and stops any feathering at the edge of your lips.

California Lovers is a classic fawny tone, maybe a little pale for me as I have incredibly pale lips naturally and need a bit more pigmentation for my personal tastes. Empire State of Mind is a slightly coral toned peach, this is one I'll more than likely end up giving to my Mum as I'm not a fan of coral tones on my skin. Toronto Terrace is lush, a more brown toned shade, I love the cool tones in it. And St. Petersburg is a fantastic house brick sort of red. I love this one and I know it'll be a shade I reach for a lot, especially in autumn.

I'm a big fan of these mini sets because they encourage me to try out colours I wouldn't otherwise give a go, and sometimes I'm pleasantly surprised!

Much love,

Colourpop Persuede Me

Sunday, 2 July 2017

I've always been a gal who loved a bright lipstick, so discovering my love for nudes this year has been a revelation! I debated on this particular set for months before I finally snapped it up, mostly because it's a lot of paler colours that I wouldn't necessarily wear. In the end, armed with the knowledge that my Mum would love the colours I thought were too pale for me, it had to be mine.

This is Colourpop's Persuede Me collection. It contains 6 lippie stix in my personal favourite formula, the matte x formula. It's a super matte lipstick that is really comfortable to wear and I'm obsessed.

The lippie stix themselves are classic Colourpop, silver font on glossy white tubes that have a good sturdy click when you close them. The box itself is really cute for storage, it's got a chunky feel to it and is magnetic so it's not about to open and let your goodies inside escape.

I decided to do something I've not done before for swatches, and share photos in the shade, and in direct sunlight to show the way light can impact the colour on your skin.

Left to right this is Ziggie, Daydream, Le Freak, Goldie, Hotline and Upside Down.

Ziggie is a deep terracotta shade, Daydream is a cool toned brown with a hint of purple, Le Freak is a stunning red wine sort of colour, Goldie is a traditional brick red, Hotline is a peachy pale brown, and Upside Down is a light peachy tone.

Upside Down is definitely too pale for me. My natural lip colour is pretty pale and I'm not into that early 2000's look. Hotline is maybe a tad too pale, but with a darker liner under it it's workable. The rest are all shades I know I'll get a ton of wear out of. I think my absolute fave is Le Freak, I just love the deep wine tone of it, it's going to be a stand out for autumn for sure.

I'll be posting photos on my instagram of me wearing all the shades as I go along so be sure to follow me @kittyramblesalot and don't forget to enter the giveaway in my last blog here.

Colourpop Lips

Tuesday, 20 June 2017

I love me some Colourpop, but their products have to be my absolute stand out product. They're always releasing new products and one of their newest products has quickly become an absolute favourite of mine.

I had already tried out the blotted lips here, but the ultra blotted lips were new to me. Much like their ultra matte lips, these come in a clear tube with a doe foot applicator. Colourpop were known for their holographic fonts but they wore off the tubes very quickly, so they've switched to silver which doesn't wear off. I picked out Split and Cherry on Top as they seemed to be perfect summer colours!

I've also gotten really into brown toned nude lip colours lately, so I grabbed Boys Town and Bonus Points in the creme formula of the lippie stix. The creme formula is a lovely creamy finish, but not too glossy.

Left to right -
Split, Cherry on Top, Boys Town, Bonus Points.

I'm wearing Split in both of these photos, which is the more pink toned ultra blotted lips. I am absolutely in love with this product! They've somewhere between a lip stain and a diluted matte liquid lipstick. It dries down completely and is smudge proof, but isn't as heavy duty or solid as a traditional liquid lipstick. These are so perfect for summer and I can't stop wearing them. They only budge when you eat oily foods and are really comfortable on the lips.

I am definitely going to be picking more of these up!

Colourpop Hot to Trot Lippie to Go Set

Tuesday, 21 February 2017

By now it's reasonably obvious that I really love Colourpop's products, and as a little post-Christmas treat I ordered a few of their sale items and value sets, including this Hot to Trot Lippie To Go set. I'm not usually one for lip liner, but I know generally it's seen as a beauty must to really help keep your lippie where it should be, so when I saw this lippie stix/lip liner combo I had to give it a go.

The packaging is a purple cardboard box with white patterns on it and a pale pink inside which is a cute touch. It arrived a bit bashed but after a journey from the US and customs etc I can't complain about a bit of bent cardboard.

The packaging is the classic white design with holographic font, one end is the lip liner and the other is the lippie stix. They have a really firm and distinct 'click' into place which is something I really like, I hate losing lids in my handbag and these don't shift unless you want them to.

Some of these are colours I already had, but I couldn't resist the travel size/lip liner combo. The colours are listed on the back so you can see which colour is the liner and which colour is the lippie stix.

With every swatch I did of the lip liner, the very tip broke off, bar one. The ends were really hard and when I applied a bit of pressure to get them to work it just snapped off. I was a bit gutted but they still worked just fine and were much softer once the tip was gone.

The lippie stix end is the rounded, slightly angled applicator. I really like the shapes of the lippie stix and their small size, I actually think they are easier to apply than traditional lipstick shapes, they are much more precise.

And the ever important swatches! I've swatched the lip liner and their corresponding lippie stix next to each other, they aren't all exact matches which I like, it can make the application a bit more interesting. The pale fawn colours are a bit too light for me in the Skimpy/Cookie set on the far left, so I've given that to my Mum who it really suits. Bound/Cami is next and I can already tell you that this will be a firm favourite of mine for spring, it's a lovely mix of pink and purple. The middle one is LBB at both ends, so the only true match, I love a good purple and wear LBB a lot so I'm glad to have the liner too. Bossy/Trust Me is a fantastic true red with cool tones which is exactly what I like for my skin tones, and Dukes/Chateau is a fab browny purple, perfect for those days you want to be a bit more dramatic and goth.

I really like these as a set, and will certainly be keeping my eye out for more like this, at $18 for the full set, meaning $3.60 per lip liner/lippie stix you really can't go wrong.

Much love,
Kitty xxxx

Colourpop To and From Lippie Stix Set

Sunday, 18 December 2016

As much as I love a liquid lip, Colourpop's lippie stix are definitely my preference for winter. Cold days and central heating mean dryer skin, so they are just more comfortable than a matte liquid lip. When I saw this limited edition holiday set To and From, I just had to have it.

For starters, the packaging is amazing. The lippe stix come displayed in this record packaging, which was held in the box above. They aren't particularly Christmassy colours, or holiday themed, but they are amazing.

Inside is this matte leopard print pattern, and 6 lippe stix in limited edition holiday packaging. Instead of the usual holographic font and glossy white, they come in matte black with silver font. I love it!

Top to bottom these are Parker in a matte finish, Cami in matte X, Baewatch in matte, Pack Pack in matte X, Weekender in matte X, and Tutu in matte. I love the holographic font Colourpop usually use, but I actually think I prefer this matte black to their usual white packaging, it's more my aesthetic and so cool.

I tried to be clever and swatch these in the same order they are listed above, but as they are on my non-dominant arm I ended up photographing them upside down, so these are the list above top to bottom, but instead right to left, so Tutu through to Parker as you look at them. Oops. I absolutely love the matte X finish, it's like velvet. I think Weekender is an absolutely perfect velvety red, and the three pinky nude tones are so pretty for day to day wear. I think these are actually colours that work all year round, the three on the left are more autumn/winter, and the three on the right are more spring/summer.

Sadly this set was limited edition and has sold out, but I couldn't resist sharing it, sorry!

Much love,
Kitty xxxx

Colourpop Haul III

Thursday, 8 December 2016

OK, so at this point I have to admit that I have a bit of a problem. Well, my name is Kitty and I am addicted to Colourpop. I've been doing my Christmas shopping and I couldn't resist a sneaky treat for me too, because I a have approximately no will power when it comes to lip products.

I ordered a few different types of lip products, two lippie stix, one holiday special ultra satin lips, one ultra matte lip, four ultra metallic lips, and one Hello Kitty ultra metallic lip. They had an offer on that meant the ultra metallic lips were free over Black Friday depending on how much you spent!

In the ultra metallics, from top to bottom, I got Man Eater, Zebra, Kween, Mug Shot and Surprise.

They look quite similar in the packaging, but once swatched all the nuances of the colours are much more obvious. Man Eater is a light bronze with gold tones, Zebra is a very cold toned brown with purple hints, Kween is a gold toned pinky colour, Mug Shot is a red toned bronze, and Surprise is a gorgeous red with gold tones. They don't dry down completely so aren't transfer proof, but they are so perfect for the holidays. Surprise in particular is the perfect Christmas colour!

Next up are the limited edition ultra satin in Wink, and the ultra matte in Are & Be. I am in love with the matte black holiday packaging, it's so different for Colourpop, but very to my taste. These look incredibly similar here, but I've swatched them side by side in the swatch coming up so you can see how different they are.

In the Lippie Stix I had to go with purple tones, my ultimate faves in lip colours. I got Back Up which is a matte X formula, and Leather in the matte formula. Having tried these the matte X is a new favourite of mine, the formula is so delicious and comfortable.

L- R Back Up, Leather, Wink & Are & Be.

You can see the differences between the two liquid lips here, Wink is much more pink toned, whereas Are & Be is more of an aubergine colour. Leather is a very classic bright purple, and Back Up is a lovely purple toned shade.

Here's all the colours swatched alongside each other. I am so in love with all the Colourpop lip products. I feel like I need them all!

Much love,

Colourpop Haul II

Thursday, 24 November 2016

Last month I posted about my first ever Colourpop haul, and when I showed the women of my family the products I got, they all immediately wanted to order some for themselves. I allowed myself to be easily led and also popped a few bits on their massive order for myself too. There's free international shipping on orders over $50 through till Christmas I think, so I might end up sneaking another order in before it ends.

I couldn't resist a few more lippie stix as I really fell in love with them, and also ordered one of the limited edition Hello Kitty lippe stix, and an ultra metallic lip too. I used to be a massive Hello Kitty fan, I had so much HK stuff my collection basically needed it's own room. I even had a blog about it all back in the day!

The lippe stix are so comfortable to wear. I love a matte liquid lip, but in the winter when my lips are dryer, these are much more comfortable.

I picked up Dukes, Nevermind and Lady. My Nanna also ordered herself Lady and it was just too tempting, I had to try it.

L-R
Dukes, Nevermind, Lady

I went for all autumn/winter colours, and they are so pretty. They go on really creamy and are very matte. Dukes is a lovely deep brown toned burgundy, Nevermind is a gorgeous deep purple and Lady is a brown toned terracotta. They all have really good coverage, this is one coat of each!

I just had to try a metallic. I've tried a few metallic lip products that haven't really impressed but I had high hopes for this one. The Hello Kitty lippie stix has really adorable packaging, if you have someone in your life who loves HK and makeup these would be such a good Christmas gift.

L-R
Lippie stix in Konnichiwa and metallica liquid lip in 3-Way.

Konnichiwa is a creme finish rather than a matte finish, and it is a bit harder to work with. I used a couple of layers to get a really solid swatch, but I was taking the photos outdoors in 1 degree weather, so that won't have helped! it's a candy pink colour that I think will be great in spring and summer. 3-Way is so metallic and so lush. This photo does not do it justice at all, it has so many dimensions to it, it's truly gorgeous and I want more metallic liquid lips from Colourpop now! It's more purple than it appears in the tube, but that is right up my street. I've tried a few metallic lips and this is the first one that I've felt is truly metallic, rather than just gloopy gloss with glitter in it. It doesn't dry totally matte, but it isn't sticky at all and is very comfortable on the lips. I haven't got any photos of it on, as the one day I've worn it all day so far involved a slight incident with a sink and my forehead, leaving me with a right shiner!

Have you tried Colourpop yet, and if you have, what are your absolute must haves? They are so reasonably priced that I don't mind the customs fees, especially with them being cruelty free.

Much love,
Kitty xxx

I picked up Dukes, Nevermind and Lady. My Nanna also ordered herself Lady and it was just too tempting, I had to try it.

Much love,

Colourpop Haul!

Tuesday, 11 October 2016

Sometimes you find a makeup brand that gives you serious lust, and you are just desperate to try them. Especially when it turns out they are cruelty free! Colourpop are definitely one of those brands. They have made such a splash in the cosmetics world, but didn't offer worldwide shipping for a long time. Earlier this year they started offering UK shipping so I knew the time was coming that I'd place an order. And then I got an email letting me know they had free worldwide shipping for over $25, and it had to be!

It took about two and a half weeks for the package to arrive, and I got a £17 customs fee. Ouch. But with the free shipping, it still worked out as a pretty good deal and I was excited to get my hands on it all! I bought a mixture of their classic ultra matte lips, and their lippie stix. I love matte liquid lips, but they can be a bit drying and with winter coming I'm wearing lipstick more and more.

I couldn't resist trying out one of their collections, and opted for the lippie stix collection 'Staycation'. At $25 for 5 shades it seemed a bargain, and all the colours looked like ones I'd wear.

They come displayed in this gorgeous box, with a magnetic clasp and a mirror in the lid. It's really lovely, and would make such a nice gift!

The lippie stix all have their colour on the base of their packaging, and the rest is plain white. They have the Colourpop logo and lippie stix written on them in really cute holographic type. I love the holographic touch, it's something really pretty and fun. The lid has a good 'click' to it which shows the quality, and the actual lipstick is a twist up with a smaller application area than a traditional lipstick.

You get 6 colours inside, ranging from a more natural beige tone, through to a darker brown, a classic red, and even a pretty purple.

I also picked up 'Creature' in the lippie stix format, and a lippe stix primer. I tried to veer away from my usual purple tones and instead try out something different. The lippie stix retail for $5 a pop, so even with the crappy exchange rate these days, it's still a pretty good price.

Some of the bottoms on the lippie stix in the Staycation box have worn a little on the base, so some of the text has come off. I'm not particularly phased by this as they are a for me, but I'm not sure I'd be too pleased to receive them as a gift looking worn.

Creature, and then the Staycation pack. Cookie, Brink, Grunge, LBB, I <3 This and Bossy.

Creature is a deep reddish brown, a perfect Autumn colour. Cookie is a very light fawn colour, Brink is a similar tone but darker. Grunge is a true brown, LBB is a gorgeous purple tone, I <3 This is a bright fuchsia, and Bossy is a blue toned red. All are very smooth and go on beautiful. All of these swatches are a single swipe, no layering, they are SO pigmented! The primer is clear, so can be worn as a base under any colour.

I tested out Grunge both with and without the primer. Without the primer is slowly wore off and vanished as soon as I ate food, which is to be expected for a lipstick. With the primer however it faded only when I ate, which is pretty impressive! I also think it helps it fade more evenly, rather than fading more on the inside of my lips.

The packaging on the ultra mattes is really cute and solid. Clear plastic bases with silver lids, and the holographic logo that is so striking. These are products with really nice chunky packaging, it feels sturdy in your hand which is always a good sign of quality.

I went for a mix of colours, getting Limbo, Time Square, Beeper and Viper. Brown lipstick is a trend I so wanted to try out, and Colourpop seem to be one of the few brands who have a good range of brown tones.

Limbo is a gorgeous brown, Time Square is a light pinky brown, Beeper is a pale brown, and Viper is a rosy browny red. These dry down fully matte, and within a couple of minutes too. This is one coat! They apply beautifully, and the pigmentation is fantastic. They will need to be removed with an oil based remover. I forgot I'd run out of oil based remover when I swatched these... and ended up using sunflower oil to clean up my warm. Oops!

Overall, I am so very impressed with these lip products. I would absolutely order from them again, but I would wait for a sale or discount code so the customs hit isn't so bad. If you have a good discount, it basically makes it back up to what the original price should have been, which I can totally tolerate. I wish they had a UK stockist, but for now their website is the only place to buy them from.

Much love,
