My Favourite Outfits of 2016

Tuesday, 27 December 2016

This year has been a funny one for my fashion. My tastes have changed, I've gotten braver, but I also feel like I should have documented way more outfits, so I hope to change that in 2017! I can't resist sharing some of my favourite outfits from throughout the year.

2016 was the year I decided that I could get my legs out as much as I wanted, and this dress was a summer favourite. I plan to wear it non-stop once it gets warm again.

I adored the black version of this Jameela Jamil dress* when it came out, so when they released it in red I had to have it. Plus I finally started wearing heels again this year and embracing my height!

This long sleeved lace dress* requires no bra due to my lack of boobage, which makes it super comfy and easy to wear.

I fell in love with drapey layers this year, and these leggings are faves too.

I also discovered a love of jeans, along with my obsession with this Navabi cardigan*. I feel like 2017 will involve a serious hunt for the perfect pair of jeans as every pair I find fits so weirdly. I will find my perfect pair!

A wintery party dress is always a must and this Lady V London dress* is so damn cute.Vintage inspired perfection.

I became a plus size brand ambassador for the Tutu Factory* this year and I think this outfit has to be the best one I've styled with their tutus so far.

LovedRobe sent me this amazing floral maxi dress* for my hen do. It's so unlike anything I would usually wear, but I loved it.

I could basically have picked any and every outfit involving a CowCow dress* because I love the so much, but as this is my most recent addition, this is the one I'm sharing.

I feel like this year I started to finally be the real 'Kitty' in my fashion, and express myself more. There are more different colours in my wardrobe, and more variety and adventure. Long may this continue!

Much love,
Kitty xxxx

Curve Fashion Festival 2016

Tuesday, 13 September 2016

This was my second year attending the Curve Fashion Festival, this year hosted in lovely Liverpool! it brings together plus size brands to showcase different fashions with catwalk events, talks and more. But for me, the day is really about the blogger friends I see there, they are what makes it a brilliant day for me.

What I wore! A fabulous 'Kitty' tutu (named after me!) by Tutu Factory*, a super old top that I've cut the tag out of, heels from Yours Clothing, and necklace by BloodyMary Metal. Big thanks to Hollie of Pretty Big Butterflies for taking this for me! I wanted cute but comfy and this definitely fit the bill. I don't usually wear heels, but these are so easy to wear and soft on the soles of your feet. They've had them in rose gold so I'm desperately hoping them come back in in my size!

Me, Sarah of Plus Size & Proud, and Debz of Not So Secret Diary of a Wannabe Princess all wore tutus, so we had to have a photo together! Mine and Sarah's are both Tutu Factory, and Debz's is Society+. I love that you can see what the same thing looks like on two completely different body types! I'm 5ft 11 and Sarah is 4ft 10, but we are wearing the same style tutu, though mine is the longest length they do and I suspect Sarah's isn't.

So I met Naomi of Diamonds & Pearls, and wow does she just light up a room! Her smile is so infectious and she's so sweet. And you know I just had to spend most of my time with my darling Steph of Nerdabouttown. I just completely adore her!

The lovely folks at SimplyBe kindly sent me to TCFF, so huge thanks guys! Even if it did take me and Steph 4 photos to figure out how to use your photobooth properly haha.

I missed Gloria Shuri Henry last year, so I wasn't going to do the same again this year! I happened to be in the lobby as she arrived so took her photo and got a selfie before we wandered for a bit. Gloria and her husband are total dolls and I'm so glad we got to chat.

I had to get another selfie with Tess Holliday. She was super busy so we didn't get much chance to chat, but me and Steph had a good natter with Nick Holliday about music. Baby Bowie was there too, he just slept all day, such a quiet good baby!

I also met the hilarious Sandi and Sandra of Gogglebox. These ladies are just a whirlwind of laughs! What treasures!

Big thanks to these two lovelies who made my day by wanting their photo taken with me! When you blog it can be hard to know who is really reading what you write, or who is it impacting upon, but to have someone come up to you in person and tell you that they read your blog and find you inspiring, it's so humbling. Thank you so so much, you made my day!

In total contrast, I once again turned fan girl for Hayley Hasselhoff who remembered me from last year which absolutely made me smile. I mean, just look at her! Looking at this photo I seriously need to learn to do my makeup better, that highlight!

And finally, I got to meet Bethany of ArchedEyebrow in person after much nattering on twitter, and she's just as awesome IRL as she is online. She's exactly the same. So I had to drag her in a photobooth with me. Look how good we look!

I did not take nearly enough selfies with people, I always end up forgetting and getting carried away on the day. TCFF is a fantastic day because of the people who attend it. Spending time with all the bloggers I talk to everyday online is a rarity, so getting to have so many of us together is a real treat. There is shopping to do, and catwalks, and a couple of talks, but there isn't that much to do if you don't know a lot of the people at the event. It's still in it's infancy so hopefully will continue to grow and improve! It's one of the few events up North so much easier for me to attend than anything in London. As a blogger I love the event because of the people there, but if I wasn't a blogger I don't think I could make a proper day of it like we did.

Thanks to Alfie for the group shot!

Thank you so much to everyone who let me take their photo for new project She Might Be... you'll find out more real soon!

Much love,
Kitty xxxx

Photoshoot with Paigey Christie

Sunday, 27 March 2016

I've had the gorgeous Paigey Christie on my facebook for a little while, and when she posted some lush new selfies I told her to come and get in front of my camera instead. And as luck would have it, she happened to be only an hour away from me at that particular moment so a few messages later, and the next day she was on a train to come and work with me! I love it when a surprise shoot happens!

As it was a rather last minute shoot and Paigey wasn't expecting a photoshoot, I provided the outfits from my own wardrobe, which I think worked out rather well. Depending on where you work, this may well be considered NSFW due to lingerie and implied nudity.

Pastel rainbow tutu - Tutu Factory*
Rainbow flower crown - Tutu Factory*
Bra - model's own

We went for a very un-Paige like look to start with, a cute pastel rainbow look! Isn't that tutu just gorgeous?

She's like a beautiful candy Princess.

As we shot such a cutesy look, something totally the other end of the spectrum was needed....

Black tutu - Tutu Factory*
Gothica flower crown - Tutu Factory*
Pentagram - Malice

Isn't Paige the perfect vampy gothic goddess?

And last up, we went for a bright lip and a bra with jeans. Very reminiscent of the old 90's jeans adverts.

I loved shooting with Paige. Photographing other plus size babes is so important to me, and as a photographer I feel it is my responsibility to ensure my work is diverse and celebrates all kinds of beauty.

And if you want to work with me, get in touch! kittyramblesalot@yahoo.co.uk for booking.

Much love,

A Casual Tutu OOTD : With Navabi & Tutu Factory

Sunday, 20 March 2016

I decided to set myself a challenge. A challenge to style a tutu in a more 'casual' look. Nothing really glam, something you could maybe wear everyday. Because who doesn't want to rock a tutu everyday?!

Plaid Cotton Shirt - Navabi*
Tutu - Tutu Factory*
Boots - Yours Clothing

Why yes. I am the most awkward person ever. I love a good plaid shirt, and Emily in Pretty Little Liars has me really loving them even more right now. This seemed like it could be a cute combo and I think I'm right! Navabi are a high end plus size brand, and you can really tell in the materials and quality of their brands. This shirt is 100% cotton. I don't think I've ever even worn something that is 100% cotton before and it is so soft and comfy.

The tutu is all black, with an elasticated waist with a tiny bow on it, and no underskirt/lining. I wore it with leggings because hey, it's cold! Plus, with no lining you are definitely flashing more flesh with this tutu. Perfect for a saucy night out, not so much for the casual look I was going for.

A quick change of top and another casual outfit. I love the orange stripes in this Navabi top. Sadly this is no longer available, but there are a lot of lush orange colours in their range for Spring. In both of these looks I wore the tutu low on my hips rather than higher on my waist like I usually would, to show the different silhouette it can offer.

I have become seriously obsessed with tutus and officially need everything Tutu Factory sell. They have a plus size range up to a size 32 as standard, and will also custom make any tutu you want, in any size you want. How cool is that?! I love seeing indy brands doing good in their sizes. Their prices are so reasonable, and they offer a discount on bulk orders... you know you need a tutu or two right?

For my next tutu look I think I'm gonna have to go totally different.....

Much love,
Kitty xxxxx

My Fear Colour : With the Tutu Factory

Tuesday, 23 February 2016

Everyone has favourite colours they love to wear. I love black, red and purple,  black is generally the basis for most of my outfits! But I have a total fear colour, that I am just so scared to wear... Blue.  I never wear blue! I worry about how it looks on me, I don't even look at anything that is blue, and never, ever wear it. In fact, I bought a pair of blue jeans just before Christmas, my first pair in about 12 years. I don't know why I get so anxious about how I look in blue, but I do.

So when I received an amazing package of goodies from Tutu Factory, I was honestly thrilled to see it had blue in it! I have been wanting to get a blue outfit for a while to blog about. One of my aims for 2016 is to push myself and break those fears!

Chop to Crop Top* - SimplyBe
Denim jacket - New Look (last year's summer wardrobe)
Royal blue tutu* - Tutu Factory
Leggings - New Look
Boots - Demonia
Flower crown* - Tutu Factory

I was so tempted to put my black pleather jacket with this, but that wouldn't have meant I was really pushing myself! Instead I teamed the tutu with a tied up vest top and a blue denim jacket. I'd never actually worn this jacket before because I've been collecting pins for it, but it worked as is for now!

I really enjoyed the contrast of the royal blue with the black. I actually really ended up loving this outfit, so I am so glad I was able to challenge myself to wear a colour that usually makes me so uncomfortable. I think the blue kinda worked for me, and I love how full that tutu is. It was so windy when I took these photos but the lining of the tutu meant I didn't have to worry about flashing my pants. They have an elasticated waist which meant it was really comfy, and they will custom make any size or length tutu, as well as having a huge plus size range as standard in sizes up to a 32. I absolutely adore a good tutu, but the UK seems to be lacking in them, so to see an indy company making them in sizes up to a 32, and even doing a kids range, is so so cool.

So now I am really curious, because I can't be the only person with a colour they are too scared to wear! So I want to see you guys wear those colours that make you nervous, and share them with me. I was convinced I didn't suit blue, but I did, and I know you could rock those colours that you avoid too.

Big thanks to the Tutu Factory for challenging me without even realising it!

Much love,
Kitty xxxx
