Hair Transformation!

So I mentioned a couple of posts ago that I was considering going back to my natural hair colour, well.... I did! It took a couple of weeks so here is the process :)

I haven't dyed my hair in a good few months by this point, the blue had stained it. So the first step was to get the blue out! There were also some areas stained green and pink.... apparently my hair was pretty determined to cling to the last lot of colours I put on it. We started out by bleaching it to try and lift the last of the colour out of it. I had all dying done to my hair done in a hairdressers and I fully recommend you do the same should you want to do anything similar. Do not screw about with bleach at home!

This is how my hair was post bleaching. Mostly white blonde with a hint of mint. We didn't touch my roots as the aim was to go back to my natural colour and it gave us a good reference point. I spent the next week putting conditioning treatments on my hair and giving it a lot of TLC to ensure any damage done to it was minimal. These are the products I used.

Argan Oil Hydrating Hair Mask. I got this from the pound shop I think initially, thought it wouldn't be much good but oh my glob my hair loves it.

Andrew Barton SOS Leave in Conditioner. Asda often have the Andrew Barton range on sale so you can grab a bargain, it smells lush and leaves your hair feeling lovely.

Argan Oil Hair Treatment. I switch the brands of argan oil that I use all the time, so long as it is argan oil, or Moroccan oil, it should do the trick! I use it just in the ends of my hair as it can leave your roots oily.

So this is what my hair looked like this morning. Minty green but distinctly blonde in places, and as you can see, mega roots! The aim was to go to an ash blonde, but as my hair had green tinges, it needed some red adding to it to level it out.

This is the colour as it went on. We made sure to start with the ends and then did the roots afterwards so it would be an even colour.

And here is the end result....

It seems totally bizarre to see myself with a natural hair colour for at the moment, but my hair already feels better and looks thicker. I can't wait to style it properly! I've had a few comments about how it brings out my eyes which makes me happy :) So pleased with how evenly it came out. I expect some loss of colour to begin with as my hair is porous, so we plan on putting a quasi-permanent colour on it in a few weeks to keep it up.

The Hair Chronicles

I am considering going back to my natural hair colour. If you know me, that is totally a bizarre thing for me to say! Since I turned 16 my hair has literally been every colour, tending to stick with the unnatural ones. As time has gone on, unfortunately with my chronic head pain dying my hair is becoming more and more of an issue. It is hugely uncomfortable for me as it adds pressure and involves my scalp/head being touched. I had my hair cut last week and I spent the rest of the day in agony because of the sectioning clips.

So, my natural colour. I haven't seen it in a long time! My roots come through a dirty blonde, so I am swaying towards a dirty blonde, maybe with lighter ombre ends so it's a bit more interesting for me. Then, in theory, I should be able to grow my hair out with much less obvious roots than I get now. I'm currently mostly pinning new hair ideas to my pinterest so if you have it let me know!

I figured I'd do a blog of some of my favourite hair looks I've had in recent years!

The only problem I have now really is that the turquoise stained my hair! So I'm hoping to be able to have a colour correction at school for one of the girls who needs it for an assessment (I go to hairdressing school) and then be able to take it from there!

Tie Dye Magic

So I had this blue dress that I got last year from New Look that I love the style of, but find totally boring, because blue is so not my thing.

This is the blue dress, I always feel a little blah when I wear it, but  it has this cute hemline that is shorter at the sides and longer at the front and back. Oh, my awesome shark necklace is from Sugar & Vice, I love it!

So, what to do? I've worn it a fair bit so it's gotten a little worn which just made my desire to wear it even less, but that hemline, I wanted to be able to wear it! So, after a slight hair dying accident ruining one of my tshirts I decided to give tie dying a go. I used to tie dye everything as a hippy teenager, so I knew how to do it straight away :)

And this is how it came out! So happy with it :D (shoes are second hand fake converses I bought from a friend)

How did I do it? It's easy!

First get a bucket you don't mind getting bleach in, a full bottle of bleach, gloves and hair bobbles. Depending on how patterned you want the item of clothing to be will depend on how you do the next part. Take a section of the dress, twist it up, fold it over, and use a hair bobble to secure it. Take bigger sections if you want bigger patterns, like the one at the bottom of the dress. Do this all over the garment, once I had done this to the majority of the dress I also twisted the whole dress loosely as well. Take the bucket, and put a small amount of water in it, enough to get the garment all wet and no more. Put the gloves on, take care as you do not want to get bleach on your skin! Pour the bleach so it totally soaks the whole garment, now leave it for a bit! Keep a close eye on the item as different colours and materials will lose colour at different speeds. This dress I had in the bleach for the length of Game of Thrones, I checked on it in the adverts haha, once I realised it was going a pink colour in places I also made sure to turn over the dress so both sides sat in the bleach for an even length of time. Once I was happy with it, I took it out of the bleach (still in gloves), and gave it a good rinse under the tap for about 10 minutes. I also put it in the wash for a quick 30 minute wash (on a cool temperature as that is all I use the washing machine on) to make sure all the bleach was gone.

I wore it today with my Mermaid necklace from Sugar & Vice, and matched it with pink and blue eye shadow from Sugarpill. I love to match!

I am so loving how this came out, I am planning on getting another dress I've seen specifically to tie dye soon :D

Malice

So for my first clothing post, I thought I'd talk about a brand I love, Malice. I currently own 2 harnesses from Malice, and cannot wait to be able to buy more!

The first one I bought was the Pentagram Harness. I absolutely LOVE this harness. I always get comments on it when I go out. It's also Malice's most ripped off design. I've seen it pop up all over the place lately, go for the original! The harness is all one complete piece, no clipping any parts together, it is all elastic, and arrange so you put it over your head and there it is! Now, it can be a little complicated, I tend to get my fella Stu to help me so I can ensure that I'm putting it on right. I also keep it hung up correctly arranged in my wardrobe on a coat hanger to make it easier. I would definitely recommend that! I tend to wear this underneath vest tops in the summer, but be careful with the tanlines!

I also have the Cage Harness. Less complicated, but I think more versatile than the Pentagram harness.

Hear, as with the Pentagram harness, I'm simply wearing it under a vest top.

Here I'm wearing it over one of my favourites dress from ASOS Curve, you can get it here, it's reduced to £15 at the moment, bargain, and with a necklace from the Gemstone collection by Sugar & Vice, and with my trusty Vegan Doc Martens.

And here it is underneath an ASOS denim look shirt dress that is no longer available, over a basic vest top that I think was just from Tesco.

I can't wait for summer so I can show them off more! Malice has been releasing new designs recently that I just cannot wait to get, my wishlist at the moment includes....

I've worked with Malice as a photographer too, so here is some of my work with them! Model is the amazing Alivya V Free (who will get her own blogpost soon), wearing various harnesses styled in different ways. She did all her own hair and makeup and provided the other clothes.

I would totally recommend Malice, their owner is nothing but wonderful to deal with. My bust size falls out of their usual S-L sizing, so she custom made me one at no extra cost after a simply email with my bra size! :D Such great customer service.
