Colourpop Lips

I love me some Colourpop, but their products have to be my absolute stand out product. They're always releasing new products and one of their newest products has quickly become an absolute favourite of mine.

I had already tried out the blotted lips here, but the ultra blotted lips were new to me. Much like their ultra matte lips, these come in a clear tube with a doe foot applicator. Colourpop were known for their holographic fonts but they wore off the tubes very quickly, so they've switched to silver which doesn't wear off. I picked out Split and Cherry on Top as they seemed to be perfect summer colours!

I've also gotten really into brown toned nude lip colours lately, so I grabbed Boys Town and Bonus Points in the creme formula of the lippie stix. The creme formula is a lovely creamy finish, but not too glossy.

I'm wearing Split in both of these photos, which is the more pink toned ultra blotted lips. I am absolutely in love with this product! They've somewhere between a lip stain and a diluted matte liquid lipstick. It dries down completely and is smudge proof, but isn't as heavy duty or solid as a traditional liquid lipstick. These are so perfect for summer and I can't stop wearing them. They only budge when you eat oily foods and are really comfortable on the lips.

I am definitely going to be picking more of these up!

Colourpop Blues Baby Liquid Lipsticks

I love a good liquid lipstick, and in my opinion, Colourpop's are the best. They totally beat out some of the higher end ones and are much more reasonably priced than a lot of the really popular ones. Whenever they bring out new value sets I always have to have a look and see what colour ranges they cover, and when I saw Blues Baby, I knew I had to have it.

A mix of red and brown tones, all deep and autumnal, which is so my sort of lip colour, all year round!

They come in a relatively flimsy cardboard pack. They tend to arrive a little bit bashed up, with cardboard you can't really expect them to survive the trip across the Atlantic in immaculate condition. Once I'd photographed these, I threw out the outer packaging, it's not designed to keep your lipsticks in long term, I'm fairly sure it would fall apart if I put it in the vortex that is my handbag for more than a day or so.

Top to bottom these are - 

Notion, Avenue, Play Date, Smitten and Minx. These come in limited edition black matte packaging, I like the matte tubes but they seem to attract dirt and dust as soon as they are out of their outer packaging. 

The doe foot applicator is nice and soft, and the wand is a good length. It's not too thick so you can be precise with your application.

As above, this is Notion, Avenue, Play Date, Smitten and Minx.

Notion is a classic deep red with blue tones. Avenue is a traditional bright red with blue undertones. Play Date is a lovely purple toned pink. Smitten is a deep red toned purple, and Minx is a gorgeous cool toned brown. Minx applies the most evenly, this is one dip and one layer of all of the colours. They dry within a minute and don't budge without an oil based remover. They are also transfer proof! These liquid lipsticks are my go-to product for nights out, I don't have to worry about them budging at all for hours, until that post-pub pizza!

These colours were part of a limited edition set that is no longer available, but Notion and Avenue are both still available for purchase as individual liquid lipsticks.

A Chronic Pain Update : Our New Kitchen

Colourpop It's Vintage

My lovely Auntie got me this Colourpop ultra matte lip set for Christmas so I just had to share it on my blog! This set is called 'It's Vintage' and it features 5 mini ultra matte liquid lipsticks. These mini lipsticks are 0.64g of products, whereas the full size ones are 3.2g, and this set retails for $18. 

They come in a cute little cardboard pack, which makes them an ideal gift. The mini size is also perfect for popping in even the tiniest of handbags, I have some ridiculously small clutches for nights out and these will fit quite happily!

The packaging is just a mini version of the full size, but the classic holographic font seems to be a plain silver on these instead. They feel just as sturdy as the full size, just more handbag sized! It's a great way to try out new shades you aren't sure about without buying a full size product that might go to waste.

The applicator is the standard doe foot applicator, which I always like as it allows for precise application. And now for the swatches...

Tulle is a lovely terracotta burgundy, Bianca is a mauvey pale pink, Notion is a deep red with a slightly pink tone, Love Bug is an orange toned brown, and LAX is a red toned brown. I really like all these shades and think they are a good mix of spring and winter colours, and can see myself getting a lot of wear from this set.

Colourpop's liquid lips take a couple of minutes to dry down, and then will not budge until oil touches it, whether from food or an oil based remover. I love knowing I don't have to reapply when I'm out for the day! Definitely a cruelty free makeup fave for me.

Colourpop Haul II

Last month I posted about my first ever Colourpop haul, and when I showed the women of my family the products I got, they all immediately wanted to order some for themselves. I allowed myself to be easily led and also popped a few bits on their massive order for myself too. There's free international shipping on orders over $50 through till Christmas I think, so I might end up sneaking another order in before it ends.

I couldn't resist a few more lippie stix as I really fell in love with them, and also ordered one of the limited edition Hello Kitty lippe stix, and an ultra metallic lip too. I used to be a massive Hello Kitty fan, I had so much HK stuff my collection basically needed it's own room. I even had a blog about it all back in the day!

The lippe stix are so comfortable to wear. I love a matte liquid lip, but in the winter when my lips are dryer, these are much more comfortable.

I picked up Dukes, Nevermind and Lady. My Nanna also ordered herself Lady and it was just too tempting, I had to try it.

I went for all autumn/winter colours, and they are so pretty. They go on really creamy and are very matte. Dukes is a lovely deep brown toned burgundy, Nevermind is a gorgeous deep purple and Lady is a brown toned terracotta. They all have really good coverage, this is one coat of each!

I just had to try a metallic. I've tried a few metallic lip products that haven't really impressed but I had high hopes for this one. The Hello Kitty lippie stix has really adorable packaging, if you have someone in your life who loves HK and makeup these would be such a good Christmas gift.

Konnichiwa is a creme finish rather than a matte finish, and it is a bit harder to work with. I used a couple of layers to get a really solid swatch, but I was taking the photos outdoors in 1 degree weather, so that won't have helped! it's a candy pink colour that I think will be great in spring and summer. 3-Way is so metallic and so lush. This photo does not do it justice at all, it has so many dimensions to it, it's truly gorgeous and I want more metallic liquid lips from Colourpop now! It's more purple than it appears in the tube, but that is right up my street. I've tried a few metallic lips and this is the first one that I've felt is truly metallic, rather than just gloopy gloss with glitter in it. It doesn't dry totally matte, but it isn't sticky at all and is very comfortable on the lips. I haven't got any photos of it on, as the one day I've worn it all day so far involved a slight incident with a sink and my forehead, leaving me with a right shiner!

Have you tried Colourpop yet, and if you have, what are your absolute must haves? They are so reasonably priced that I don't mind the customs fees, especially with them being cruelty free.

Trying out Milani Lip Products

At this point you guys realise that I'm pretty obsessed with lip products. I'm forever trying out different colours and brands, and a matte lip especially is my favourite. I've seen so many Youtubers talking about Milani that I had to try them out! Milani are cruetly free, but not vegan, some of their products may be vegan but it would need some research into their ingredients.

I love a matte lipstick and I'm loving brown tones at the moment, so I picked out the Milani Colour Statement Matte Lipstick. I opted for shade 69 'Beauty'. There were deeper browns but a lot of the shades I was interested in were out of stock when I ordered.

And the thing that had really peaked my interested, the Amore Mattalic Lip Creme. A metallic matte! I picked Automattic Touch which is the pink shade, and Raving Matte which is the purple. All of the packaging is gold toned, the mattalics have a sturdy feel to them, but the matte lipstick feels really cheap and plasticy which was disappointing.

I forgot to take a photo before I swatched the lipstick, hence the slightly smushed end. In the heat we've had lately the lipstick was pretty creamy and it wasn't the most happy about being applied. You can see a better idea of the packaging here which I felt let down by. For £5.99 I expect more from packaging.

The mattalics have a very long applicator, the longest I've seen on a liquid lipstick, and it is curved slightly. The first thing I noticed upon opening these was the smell. It is so intense. They aren't described as having a smell on the website, but it's a really sickly sweet smell, like a combination of fake fruits and vanilla. I've never had a scented liquid lipstick before and I'm not sure I'd be opting for another. It's less obvious when actually applied to the lips but it's a seriously strong scent.

Left to right are Automattic Touch, Raving Matte, and Beauty. These are all one coat, taken in natural day light with no editing. I was impressed by the pigmentation of all the shades, and none were streaky at all. From the photos on the website I expected Automattic Touch to be more purple toned, but it's definitely a pink with a very tiny hint of purple, rather than a purple toned pink. Raving Matte is a true purple, and Beauty is a lovely mid-toned brown. The matte lipstick is incredibly creamy and didn't feel drying at all. The mattalics have a distinct hint of metallic. I find the idea of a matte metallic to be a bit of a misnomer, to be metallic you can't truly be matte, but I guess the idea is that they dry down in the same way a matte liquid lipstick does.

I had to test how smudge proof they were as they claim to be waterproof and 'kiss-approved', which hints at being kiss proof but doesn't actually say it. The lipstick as predicted smeared like any lipstick, but the mattalics were much sturdier. After about 3 minutes they weren't completely dried down and did smudge. The other brands I've tried dried down a lot quicker, and these are the most expensive I've tried. For £7.99 I expected more, but I do like the metallic look of  them. You need an oil to remove them as you do with most liquid lipsticks.

Considering how many bloggers rave about Milani, I was disappointed because they are pricier than I usually opt for. I really wanted to like them, but the smell of the mattalics is so overwhelming, it just did not work for me at all.

Matte Lips with MUA : Cruelty Free Skincare

Matte Lips with MUA

My name is Kitty, and I am addicted to matte lips. Matte lipsticks, lip lacquers, liquid to matte gloss, I love it all. I'm forever trying new colours and brands, and my newest fave is MUA thanks to Just Me Leah. She kindly sent me 4 colours that I blogged about here, and I just had to get more.

This time I decided to try 2 different products, more of the velvet lip lacquers in more muted colours than the ones I have, and also the matte lipstick.

I love lip lacquers, but I was keen to try the lipsticks as I think for a day to day they are more comfortable than a matte liquid lip. The lip lacquers come in a matte packaging that I love, with a gold top and matte tube. They have either a black or gold top, and this time all the colours I ordered happened to have a gold top. The lipsticks come in a cute white case with silver font and accents, and the bottom of the tubes show the colour contained within, which is a touch I always like. It's much easier to spot a coloured end than a lipstick name when rooting around in your handbag.

How pretty is that matte packaging? I love the style of the font too, it looks very high end for a product that costs £3 a pop!

This time I opted to get more natural tones as Leah had sent me 4 very bright colours. 3 are more typical 'nude' colours, and the other 2 were a bit brighter. The names are all really cute, and I've swatched them in the same order I've photographed above to help you be able to identify them easily.

I like to do a jazzy shape when I swatch lately and these are my attempts at lightening bolts... don't judge me. I'm sure most people use a template! I just don't have a steady enough hand to draw properly. These velvet lip lacquers have a slightly moussey formula and are very creamy. They dry totally matte and smudge proof which is always a good thing.

The three nudes have similar tones but are very different. Harmony is the shade furthest left, and it's a light brown tone with cool tones. Next is Tranquility which is much more of a light brown and my personal favourite of the three natural colours. The final muted colour is Halcyon which has a slight coral tone to the brown. All of these are swatched in single layer to show the truest pigmentation I can. I'm very impressed with all 3! I think Harmony will probably be a little too light for my personal tastes so I suspect my Mum will want to swipe that off me.

Dash and Moxie are more pink toned and less neutral. Dash is the brown toned pink and Moxie is a blue toned pink rose colour. Both again are swatched in one layer. I think Dash will become one of my day to day colours, it's beautiful. I love the tones of it so much.

Here are all 5 swatches under a flash, the above swatches are in natural light. I think you can see more clearly in this shot the different between the 3 natural tones.

And these swatches are of the matte lipsticks. These are so soft and feel great on the lips, very moisturing whilst still being matte. Again I opted for some more natural tones, and also a purple, which I can never resist!

These matte lipsticks are only £1 each, so if you want to try out a matte lip these are a bargain. Top is Totally Nude which is a very light brown creamy colour, and bottom is Fawn Fancy a more middle toned brown, Unlike the lip lacquers these aren't smudge proof, but I have yet to find a matte lipstick that is.

The lilac colour is called Lilac Belle and is more pink toned than I expected, but I think it'll be a really fun colour for summer. These aren't as pigmented as the lacquers, but again, I wouldn't expect them to do as a lipstick. With lip lacquers you usually aren't going to have to reapply during the day unless you eat oily or greasy food, but the lipsticks definitely need reapplying to keep their pigmentation.

I'm really impressed with the MUA matte lip ranges, especially the velvet lip lacquers. The packaging is totally adorable and the pigmentation is fantastic. I can't recommend them enough for the price range they are!

Vegan Cruelty Free Skin Care : MUA Luxe Lip Lacquer

MUA Luxe Liquid Lip Lacquers

I cannot resist matte liquid lipsticks and lip products. They are pretty much all I wear these days, so when I get to try out another cruetly free brand I leap at the chance! The lovely Leah of Just Me Leah very kindly sent me these to cheer me up a little while ago because she's a total sweetheart. Her blog is awesome, so you should totally go check it out. I couldn't resist holding off on photographing them and swatching them properly for my blog so it's taken me a little while to use them, but here are the MUA Luxe Velvet Lip Lacquers and my thoughts on them.

The actual lip lacquers come in these little cardboard boxes. These are a little bashed about due to their travels and also me keeping them in them till I got chance to photograph them.

The back of each of the boxes tells you the colour contained within and a little about the product themselves. They claim to be smudge proof so I had to give them a proper test run.

The four colours Leah kindly sent me are left to right; Criminal, Funk, Atomic and Kooky.

The packaging is a frosted matte tube and they have a sticker on the bottom with their name too. I really like the matte effect of the tubes. The colour has separated a little in the tubes but each is really full of product.

I've swatched them in the same order I photographed them in above. Criminal is a really bright classic Barbie pink, Funk is a gorgeous rose toned shade, Atomic is a fab orangey red, and Kooky is a blackcurrant purple. The applicator is a soft doe's foot style which I personally prefer for liquid lipstick.

Here are close ups of Atomic and Kooky. The colours are all really opaque which impressed me, especially as purple tones tend to be trickier for brands to get right. Atomic is more orangey in person than in this photo.

Criminal and Funk again are both really opaque. All of their formulas are nice and creamy and dry in about a minute. All of these photos are just one coat of the product! I was really impressed with how soft they felt, a lot of liquid lipsticks feel like they are going to be drying but these don't. As for their claim to be smudge proof... they really are! I gave them a good press and rub on my arm and they didn't shift. You will need a good oil product for removal because they are so smudge proof!

In all, I am seriously loving these lip lacquers and at £3 a pop they are a complete bargain, I will definitely be trying more of their shades. They have a range of really bright shades, as well as more classic nudes and some funkier tones like lilac and black too.
