Get to Know Me

I haven't done a little Q&A blog in a while, so I thought I'd do a 'Get to Know Me' tag I found online and maybe share a bit more of myself.

1. Are you named after anyone? Yes! I'm actually named after 3 people. My Dad, my Mum and my Nanny, who is my Mum's Mum.

2. When was the last time you cried? Um, probably the last time I watched a sad documentary. I think it was while I watched Blackfish, which is heartbreaking, and everyone needs to see it.

3. Do you have kids? Yes and no! No biological children, it's not something I've ever wanted for myself, but I do have 3 soon to be step-children.

4. If you were another person, would you be a friend of yourself? Probably not, I'm a little neurotic, and when I get anxious I even manage to annoy myself.

5. Do you use sarcasm a lot? Yes, I love sarcasm!

6. Will you ever bungee-jump? I would love to! I've been parasailing and it was an amazing experience, and I think a bungee jump would be brilliantly liberating.

7. What’s your favorite cereal? I love Krave, but also Special K with chocolate. If I have Krave I have milk, but Special K I have vanilla yoghurt with, nom.

8. What’s the first thing you notice about people? Probably how they are dressed, it's the first thing we all see isn't it? Often it gives you a general feel for a person. Most people who enjoy similar music to myself dress alternatively, or in vintage fashion for example. We therefore probably have some similar ground. If someone is dressed in something I think is fantastic, I'll tell them and hopefully it'll spark up a conversation.

9. What is your eye colour? Green. I love my eye colour. It's different and it feels like me.

10. Scary movie or happy endings? Scary movies. Love them! Wednesday nights Stu goes out, and I prowl Netflix for horror movies I haven't watched yet. I'm not a fan of gore for the sake of gore, I like psychological horror, I want it to creep me out and make me think.

11. Favorite smells? I love the way my cats smell. Is that weird? I love the smell of puppies, Stu, especially when he has just washed his hair and beard and is all shiny, fresh laundry, fresh baking.

12. Summer or winter? Winter. I prefer the cold. Heat and light exacerbate my chronic pain. Plus, I like being all snuggled up and cosy with blankets.

13. Computer or television? That's impossible to choose from. I tend to use both at the same time and love the both! I need my laptop for editing and the internet, I like the TV for Netflix and movies and TV shows.

14. What’s the furthest you’ve ever been from home? Pretty far! I travelled a fair bit when I was younger with my family. Probably Mexico or Tunisia.

Ok, so maybe this was taken in Whitstable, but still, I haven't been abroad in a good while!

15. Do you have any special talents? I like to joke that my English degree means I spell relatively well. But realistically, I can still do the splits as well as I did when I was a teenage acrobat!

16. Where were you born? Grimsby, where I live again now.

17. What are your hobbies? Watching movies and tv shows, reading, photography, fashion, writing.

18. Do you have any pets? Several! There are Stitch and Patches, our cats, and Ashen, our rottie-cross. And hopefully by the time this post is on my blog, we'll have a new addition too!

19. Favorite movie? True Romance. Easiest question ever!

20. Do you have any siblings? Yes, a not-very-little brother Lloyd. He's 2 years younger than me, and quite a bit taller than me.

21. What do you want to be when you grow up? Well, I am a grown up I guess. I used to want to be a novel writer, or a model (when I was very small and delusional), a dancer, or an artist of some sort.

15 Random Questions

I love tag videos on youtube, and the last blog I did on them did well, so I thought I'd do another! I'm contemplating starting youtube videos, but don't have a camera for it, what do you think?

#1. What's a nickname only your family calls you? Steffi. A play on my real name, no one but family and very close loved ones get away with it!

#2. What's a weird habit of yours? I guess it depends on what you define as weird! I twirl my hair a lot when I notice less curly parts.

#3. Do you have any weird phobias? Horses. So terrified of them!

One time I touched a horse and didn't cry. One time. Never again.

#4. What's a song you secretly LOVE to blast && belt out when you're alone? Celine Dion - It's all coming back to me now. I bloody love that song. So not sorry!

#5. What's one of your biggest pet peeves? People who don't do the thank you wave when you give way for them. I drive to work during the school run and pass a local primary school and I swear, if I ever go postal it'll be because I've let 20 cars through doing the school run and not gotten a single thank you wave.

If this dog can wave, then SO CAN YOU!!

#6. What's one of your nervous habits? I count to calm myself, I grind my teeth, I twirl my rings, and I sort of, air drum my fingers. You know how you'd drum nails on a table when you are impatient? That motion but without touching anything.

#7. What side of the bed do you sleep on? Me and Stu actually just switched when we redecorated our bedroom, I sleep on the right side now, well, the right side if you are in the bed.

#8. What was your first stuffed animal && it's name? The first one I really remember, was a dog teddy, a pale sort of tan colour, I think he came from Asda, and he was called Harry. I wonder what ever happened to him.

#9. What's the drink you ALWAYS order at starbucks? I don't drink tea or coffee, or really 'do' Starbucks, but if I was to have one, I'd order a chocolate frappacino. They did a mint chocolate one for a while, lush!

#10. What's the beauty rule you preach.. but never ACTUALLY practice? Take off your makeup before bed... I try to always remember!

#11. Which way do you face in the shower? Away from the shower, it baffles me that people do it the other way.

#12. Do you have any 'weird' body 'skills'? I can do the splits, roll my tongue and turn it sideways and wiggle it.

#13. What's your favorite 'comfort food'/food thats 'bad' but you love to eat it anyways? Pizza. Always pizza.

#14. What's a phrase or exclamation you always say? Oh my glob. I love Adventure Time and it worked it's way into my vernacular. I also say awesome way too much.

#15. Time to sleep- what are you ACTUALLY wearing? Nothing! I have a ton of pajamas. Never wear them. Should probably just get rid.

50 Random Facts About Me Part 1

I love watching Youtube videos, my favourite youtubers being Kiera-Rose and Helen Anderson, and one of my favourite tags is the 50 random facts tag, so I thought I'd do a blog version! I often wonder about doing a Youtube channel, but I don't have a camera that can film, and I think my accent is terrible! So for now, I'll stick with this.

1) I am 5ft 11! Most people think that is pretty tall for a girl. I'm taller than Stu, and never tend to wear heels.

2) I have green eyes. My eye colour is one of my favourite things about me. The 'beauty rules' say that means I should wear purples and browns to make my green eyes pop, I love wearing purple, but I think green does the job too!

3) My feet are a massive size 10. Which is just a nightmare for buying shoes!  A lot of places make 9s now, but 10s are still so rare.

4) I only ever wear silver jewellery. I think silver is classic, and cool, and much prettier than all the other metals. Which is why I was so happy my engagement ring is silver!

5) I'm a qualified hairdresser. I do mobile hairdressing around my day job, but not much. I love it though!

6) I have a degree in English Literature. I used to want to be a teacher, but then I realised that I'm not well suited to teaching children because I don't like the way the education system teaches right now.

7) My hair has been every colour. My favourite is purple, or grey, and the colours that look terrible on me are black and red.

8) I suffer from a combination of chronic hemiplegic migraines with aura and chronic headaches. I have head/face pain 24/7, and have done for 5 years. Thankfully it is well controlled now, but it means I can't wear my hair up, anything touching my hair or face is painful, and I sleep a lot.

9) I have 3 step-children! Or at least, they will officially be my step-children when me and Stu get married. Two boys who are 9 and 10, and a girl who is 18!

10) My hair is naturally wavy, and I encourage the curl. My Mum's is ringlets, and I am so jealous!

11) We have 2 cats and a dog. Sir Stitch the Third of the House of Chubblington (Stitch for short), he's the black cat, and Lady Patches of Patchingworth (or Patches), she's the tortie, and Stitch's Auntie, and Ashen the rottweiler cross. Ashen is also known as goldfishcatdogreindeerllama. All 3 are rescues and I love them all to bits!

11) I used to collect Hello Kitty stuff. Like, I had so much it was kind of ridiculous. they needed their own room. When we bought our house two years ago I sold all but a handful of my collection off to buy furniture for the new house.

12) I've lived in Saudi Arabia, Lincoln, Norwich, Burton on Trent, and Grimsby. Saudi was when I was a little kid, Lincoln for uni, Norwich for between 2009 and 2012, Burton as a kid, and Grimsby the rest of the time. I loved Norwich, the place, the closeness to London, the friends I made, but I had to leave for me.

13) I'm partially deaf. I should wear a hearing aid, but thanks to my amazing and ridiculous allergies I can't wear it. Which is a shame, cause it's amazing to be able to hear better!

14) My musical taste is pretty diverse. My all time favourite musicians, bands and artists are The Wreckers, Dolly Parton, Skid Row, Stone Sour, Alice in Chains, Meat Loaf, Taylor Swift and P!nk. (Though I don't like Taylor Swift or P!nk's most recent albums at all *sad face*).

15) I started taking photos way back in 2007, and did all those cliche sort of photos alternative kids did back then.

16) I all kinds of love Adventure Time. Stu hates it, thankfully my step-sons love it so are a great excuse to watch it! It's ridiculous but I think it's actually full of awesome life lessons for kids.

17) I am terrified of horses. I'm trying to work on it, but it's hard! They are massive and scary.

18) I totally have to admit... I am addicted to Sugar & Vice. I own sooo much of their jewellery and forever need more, more!

19) I hate peppers. I have this thing about their texture, that it kind of feels like it's... alive. I know. That sounds mental, but I hate them and can't eat them!

20) I've been vegetarian since I was 12.

21) My favourite colours are black, purple and red.

22) I really dislike even numbers. I don't know why. I can't set my alarm for 08:00 for example, it has to be 08:01.

23) I think octopuses are totally adorable. I think tentacles are amazing, and they are so intelligent and cute!

24) I'm teetotal. Because of the medication I take for my chronic pain I can't drink alcohol, as much as I love it. When I was allowed to drink I loved gin and cherry sourz. Not mixed together though, ew!

25) Because I don't drink, I drink either water with loads of ice, or Pepsi Max. I love Pepsi Max so much.
