Checking in with Navabi*

Tuesday, 9 October 2018

Could there be a more perfect spot to photograph a checked dress than in front of a lovely field of sheep? You can never go wrong with a plaid or tartan print, especially not in autumn. It makes me thinks of Alice in Chains and Pearl Jam and grunge loving men with long hair, all things I'm rather fond of!

Leggings - ASOS
Boots - Dr Martens
Faux leather jacket - very old Matalan
Sunglasses - old Quay Australia

100% cotton isn't something you hear a lot in plus sizes, but it is something you can get yours hand on at Navabi. When you're used to polyester and mixed fabrics, 100% cotton feels like an utter delight to wear. It's so soft and comfortable. True luxury is something you can actually buy your plus size body at Navabi and I'm forever grateful they exist.

All the rings you can see in this photo are of course from my faves, Bloody Mary Metal. I can never resist sterling silver! The buttons on the dress feel really sturdy and solid, always reassuring with a shirt dress. It doesn't gape on my bust at all, and I got the dress in my usual size.

It's wonderful and warm too. Good and cosy for the colder weather. The sleeves are just about long enough for my long arms, but I'm not a big fan of cuffs so I undid them and rolled them up instead. It hits me at just below knee level, I'm 5ft 11 so on someone of more average height it would be more of a midi length than it is on me.

My boots are one of my favourite pairs of shoes. They are part of the vegan Dr Martens range, and are Jadon II in cherry red cambridge brush. They have a chunky platform which does weigh a fair bit, so it's one to keep in mind if you plan on wearing them all day. I like them for a bit of extra height at gigs! I wish Dr Martens would expand their vegan line, especially in the size 9+ range. The women's range is up to a size 9 only and gets all the best colours, I just want a pair of size 10 vegan boots in purple!

If you want to get your mitts on this dress, or anything else from Navabi, you can use the code KITTY15 for a discount! It's not an affiliate code or anything like that, but it will get you pennies off your purchase. Yay!

Navabi are a company who I cannot adore enough. They do so so much for the plus size community and constantly fight for real inclusiveness, and real change in the industry. They are the change they want to see, and that's so amazing to see.

Much love,
Kitty

Girly Grunge with Navabi*

Tuesday, 24 October 2017

Music is one of my biggest fashion inspirations, and every autumn I am filled with the urge to bring out my inner 90's grunge kid. I love 90's Seattle grunge, Alice in Chains and Pearl Jam being my favourites. It makes me think of acid wash jeans, biker boots, plaid shirts, and long curly hair. I like adding in my usual mix of girly, and this lush Navabi Manon Baptiste Checked Midi Shirt Dress* is the perfect way to bring in my own touch of 90's grunge.

Paired with my fave Plus Equals pleather jacket, and my new ASOS glitter boots, it's the perfect way to wear a more feminine grunge inspired look. I am obsessed with this dress.

Navabi are high end plus size fashion, and with every piece of clothing I have from them that quality and care is so evident. This dress is 100% cotton. Cotton clothing is so rare in plus size, and to find something that is 100% cotton is even rarer. It feels so gorgeous on your skin, it's one of the softest things I've ever worn, and it's lovely and warm too, ideal for autumn.

I got my usual size, and it fits really true to size. Being 100% cotton it has no stretch at all, so if you are someone who has a particularly large bust you may need to size up just to be safe. It's a classic shirt dress style that flares out towards the bottom of the dress, skimming over your hips. and features a tie around the waist. You could very easily style this with a black jumper over the top of it for added warmth as winter hits, the collar peaking out would be adorable.

I mean could this be the more perfect dress for autumn?! I'm 5ft 11, and this dress hits me just under my knees which is fairly standard for a midi dress on me. Most people would find it to be a true midi length. The sleeves just reach my wrists, I usually roll sleeves up because they don't reach long enough, but I can get away with these down.

I also love that this dress matches my hair now the purple has faded into more of a greeny blue. I think this dress has quickly become an absolute favourite piece that I own and I just know I'll be getting so much wear out of it.

I can see myself adding a whole lot more check print to my wardrobe this autumn!

Much love,
Kitty xxx

Win a Manon Baptiste Bardot Dress from Navabi!*

Wednesday, 9 August 2017

When it comes to brands who always get it right, Navabi are right at the top of my list. They consistently produce truly beautiful garments for plus size bodies and they really care about the plus size community. They are proud to represent us and are always trying to be the change they want to see in the fashion industry. I adore them!

When Navabi asked me to not only review one of their new pieces, but also to give you guys the chance to win that same garment, you know I leapt at the opportunity! I ummed and aahed over their new collection, and then when I saw this stunning Manon Baptiste Bardot Dress* I knew it was the one. A bardot dress is something I consider to be a staple look for me, and the print on this is just everything.

A lot of bardot dresses gradually slide up your shoulders and need re-adjusting all the time. Not this dress! The quality of the fabric and the weight of the dress mean it doesn't move. I was so impressed, it's a very rare thing in a bardot design!

It hits me just above mid calf, so it's a pretty long dress. Most midi length dresses aren't true midis on me, but if you're a taller babe you'll be just fine! The fabric is clearly incredibly high quality and it is so soft on the skin. And the print, just wow! It's a floral design but it's really something else, everyone who has seen me in this dress has commented on how gorgeous the print is. It's so striking and unusual. You could easily wear this to a summer wedding, or dress it down more like I have here.

So! How can you win this dress too? That's easy, just enter using the widgit below, and good luck!**
