Pink Clove Mika Suedette Swing Dress Review

One of the things I've been trying to do this year is push myself and wear different things. I still get a little nervous about short dresses, and I still mostly wear black. So the Pink Clove Mika Suedette Swing Dress* in tan was a good challenge.

For starters, this dress is about as short as I, at 5ft 11, could possibly wear without my butt being out. It is a totally different fabric from anything I own, and a completely 'not me' colour.

The colour really surprised me. I wasn't sure it would suit me, but I actually really like it. The length means it is definitely a dress to wear with leggings! And the fabric... it is so soft, and so lovely. It feels so luxurious. And this dress is £24. A total bargain. It is also available in black, which I might just have to get my paws on.

The sleeves are one of my favourite parts of this dress. The split in them means they flow nicely, and if you have bigger arms you don't have to worry! The 3 bands across the bust are really fun and add an extra dimension to a relatively simple dress.

I felt really cowgirl cute in this, so these butterflies from Crown & Glory and my favourite Demonia boots were the easy choice to pair with it. I think this dress could really be fun with jeans to mix up the different textures of the suedette with the denim.

Much love,

Why I Love My Tattoos

I started getting tattooed in March 2014 after almost 10 years of wanting to get tattooed. I always loved them. I loved seeing beautiful ladies covered in pretty pictures and bad ass men with mysterious patterns on them, and I wanted to be one of those pretty ladies. As a young teen, I loved punks and goths and counter culture. I read BME Zine, and realised that there was this whole world of body modification and self expression that I knew nothing about. As I grew older, I knew I wanted tattoos, but I also wanted to wait to get them. By 21, most of my friends who had been tattooed were getting cover ups and reworks, or longing for them! So I waited, and I read, and I learnt as much as I could, until I knew I had found the right person for what I wanted.

This was my first piece. I travelled to Manchester to Loaded Forty-Four and got tattooed by Keely Rutherford. I'm now one session off a completed lower leg sleeve, and have no plans to stop from there. To be tattooed by Keely I've travelled to Manchester, Leeds and London. Because the cliche is true, 'good work ain't cheap, and cheap work ain't good'! I'd rather travel and really get the perfect artist than settle.

Before I started getting tattooed, I lived in full length leggings. I hated my legs. I have eczema scars, weird patches of pigment, and I also have have sort of weird red blotchy pores on my legs. It's always bugged me, even though I'm sure no one else really noticed it! But that's kind of the thing with insecurities, they bother us, even if no one else has ever mentioned them before. When my eczema was bad, or when my scars are obvious, people have pointed them out to me. Still do actually, because I still have eczema. And knowing that it's something people notice is hard. When little kids ask their parents what is wrong with that ladies leg, or someone blunt just outright asks, you realise it's not all in your head.

But since I started getting tattooed, I feel so much more confident! I'm no longer worried about what people are looking at on my legs, instead I know they are looking at my tattoos! I love the colours, I feel like they are an extension of me and I love my body so much more for having them. I can't imagine my skin without them, I feel like I'm becoming the 'me' I was always meant to be. I used to be convinced people could see all the things I was insecure about, and now, even if they can, I don't care, because my body is becoming beautiful art.

Who wouldn't love their body more for being covered in art? I know tattoos aren't for everyone, the world would be pretty boring if we all liked the same things, but they are for me. And that's what I love about my tattoos, they are for me, and no one else. I feel beautiful and special with them. Even when no one can see them because they are covered up, I feel amazing. They make me smile every single time I see them!

I'm more inclined to have my legs out, to wear short leggings or none at all. Loving yourself is such a hard journey, and tattoos have helped me love a part of myself I've always hated. And that can't be a bad thing.

I have ideas for my other leg, and ideas for more tattoos elsewhere. Sorry Mum! Do you have tattoos? Where are they? Who did them? I love seeing work from artists I haven't discovered yet.

Much love,
Kitty xxxxx

Lady V London Hepburn Dress Review

I love a beautiful vintage style dress. Dressing up and being really girly, I adore it! And Lady V London are one of those brands that do a fancy dress beautifully.

This dress is the Lady V London Hepburn dress in Enchanting Birds Forest Green*. Green is not a colour I wear often enough. I love the deep green colour, and the print is stunning. It features hummingbirds and flowers in beautiful pinks. It retails at £50, which for a high end dress made in England is incredibly reasonable.

Isn't the print so lovely? It comes with a thin black belt that really looks lovely with it. You could easily not wear the belt if you wanted to, but I think it accents the waist really nicely.

The skirt is a full traditional 1950's circle skirt. I couldn't resist twirling about in it! I didn't wear it with a petticoat, but you could add a petticoat to really turn on the glamour. I paired it with stompy boots for a more casual look, and an orchid clip from Crown & Glory.

I found this dress to be true to size, it has a small amount of elastine in it so could easily accommodate a larger bust than mine. The arm holes are nice and roomy, and the dress is so soft.

I've admired Lady V London for a long while, and this dress has definitely made me realise it is only the first of many of their pieces I will be adding to my wardrobe. They are a company who designs and makes their dresses in the UK, and stock a great size range. It's wonderful!

Supporting independent business is really important, especially when you can see they are so obviously creating beautiful pieces to fit so many.

Much love,

Pink Clove Kyra Belted Duster Jacket Review

When Pink Clove asked me to pick out some pieces from their new collection to review, I knew immediately one of my choices before I even went on the website to look, because I been ogling it since the moment it hit their new arrivals. The Kyra Belted Duster Jacket*.

Jacket - Pink Clove
Jeans - ASOS Ridleys
Top - BooHoo
Scarf - New Look
Flower Crown - Crown & Glory

So the first thing I have to mention is the price of this jacket. It is £30! I love duster jackets but often find the price is a little much, but at £30 this is an investment and a bargain. It is made of a thick jersey type fabric, has a belt with 2 loops, and on me sits at knee length. I'm 5ft 11 so this would be a bit longer on most. I absolutely adore the length of it!

It has a split on each side of the jacket meaning it has gorgeous movement. I wanted to style it with jeans and trainers, but I think this would also look amazing with a LBD and heels. It's a really versatile piece.

A good faux fur scarf looks amazing with this jacket. Perfect way to glam it up! I couldn't resist talking a walk in the falling leaves to shoot this look.

The collar on this is lovely. It is designed to wear open which is totally my sort of thing. This is so perfect for autumn. This is definitely one of my favourite pieces in my wardrobe now and I can't wait to style it in different ways.

Much love,
Kitty xxxx

Funky Laser Halloween Spider Web Tiara Review

I recently discovered Funky Laser on twitter and got in touch with them, to discover they knew who I was and wanted to work with me too, brill! They decided they wanted to send me a little something from their Halloween collection, and with my love of Halloween I was so up for that!

They sent me the Halloween Spider Web Tiara* £8+. That this is only £8 is completely baffling to me! The price goes up slightly depending on the acrylic you pick, but in the black is is £8. The level of detail is amazing, and it is such an unusual idea.

It is so intricate. I love the curls and flicks on the cobwebs. It is affixed to a metal headband by 3 rings which are very secure. I have quite a large head so was a little worried about it fitting me, but it did no problem!

I plan on wearing this all year round. It's a really unique piece and definitely fits with my slightly goth aesthetic.

Funky Laser have a few different hair accessories for Halloween, including a pumpkin headband and a ghostly scene, but this spiderweb one is my favourite,

Be sure to check out the rest of their store, they have wedding cake toppers too which is really different.

Much love,
Kitty xxx

Dreaming of Winter Party Dresses

One of the best things about autumn and winter, is the gatherings and parties, and therefore the excuse for new dresses! And you guys know I love a good dress. Here are some of the new releases I'm drooling after at the moment...

I love seeing indy designers offer such a wide range of sizes, and Interrobangirl does that in everything she makes! This is exactly my sort of autumn dress, that berry colour, velvet, three quarter length sleeves, lush!

The seventies trend is going nowhere, and this dress is the perfect way to glam it up. The cut out back is beautiful, and the colours bring the mustard trend in without being too much.

This dress is giving me all kinds of boho prairie high fashion chic vibes. It is very Wednesday Addams the early twenties years, before she fully Morticia's up!

I love the mix of stars and lace in this! It's such a different print, really pretty and cute. And the back is a lovely touch!

£28 is a total bargain for a good maxi dress. The print and colours on this are beautiful, and scarf necks are really fashionable right now. The long sleeves and maxi length make this so perfect for a chillier day.

Is a tunic a dress? I guess it depends how tall you are! I suspect on me I'd need the leggings to preserve my modesty. I love the red detailing on this.

The orange tones that are all over this autumn winter are so beautiful. Really autumnal colours that make me think of leaves.

Who wouldn't want to swan about like a glamorous super hero?! Loving the capes that are in this season.

I love a good colour pop, and the mesh would add a cheeky flash of flesh too. The neckline is adorable too.

What styles are you loving at the moment? Apparently I am all about black....

Much love,
Kitty xxxx

Pink Clove Kay Lace Tie Front Swing Dress Review

Ever see a dress and just know it is perfect for you? That's how I felt when I saw this Pink Clove dress, the Kay Lace Tie Front Swing Dress*. It is so American Horror Story Coven! Ideally I wanted a big black floppy felt hat to wear with it, but I have yet to find one to fit my massive head. So if you know anywhere that sells hats for larger heads, do let me know haha!

The dress has a solid black dress as lining with a solid back and a plunge neck, then crotchet layered over the top. It is really soft to the touch, the sleeves have a slight flare to the bottom and it is very comfortable.

I paired it with black and grey tie dye leggings and my favourite non-leather boots. I went for leggings over tights because well, this dress on me is about as short a dress as I could possibly wear. While it is incredibly short on me, do bear in mind I am 5ft 11, so on most people it would be a good few inches longer. I used to be really nervous of wearing short dresses, but I no longer am and this dress was the perfect way to celebrate it.

The neckline is my favourite part of this dress. It is quite low cut, so I'm wearing a plunge bra with it, and the lace up section is really cute. Stu thought it was very flattering in the bust department and certainly approved of this dress!

I felt so good wearing this, it's perfect for an autumn day. The crotchet sleeves add a little warmth and with leggings, this is such a great outfit.

Much love,
Kitty xxxx

A Transitional OOTD

I love autumn. I love layering and snuggling up, wearing boots, the weather, and the fashion! So I thought I'd best do my first autumn outfit of the day already.

Dress - Missguided
Blazer - New Look
Boots - Demonia
Necklace - New Look

I wasn't sure about this blazer, but Amanda Apparel convinced me I had to go back for it, and I am so glad I did. It's a black base, with flashes of white, grey, neon orange and blue. I mostly wear black over blue, but I actually got a blue dress I think this will look really cute with.

And a headshot so you can appreciate the necklace. I love the shells and turquoise, I like to drag a bit of summer into autumn and this fits the bill! I tend to go for bright eye shadow when I'm wearing mostly black, this is Darling from Sugarpill, and then a deep pink with hints of purple for lippy from Barry M. I love a Barry M lipstick!

I'm desperate for more new autumn wardrobe, I don't feel like I have much! Better get on the look out for some bargains.

Much love,
Kitty xxxx

PS. You guys, I started a YouTube channel! Check out my first proper video below, an accessories haul. I need to remember to snap a photo for the thumbnail next time haha!

Halloween Shinies

Anyone who has followed me for a little while will know about my love of Halloween, and kitschy Halloweeny goodies! And one of my favourite things, is Halloween themed jewellery. All my favourite companies seem to be coming out with adorably spooky cute pieces, and I had to share them!

Peppermint Puff Black Batty Eyeball Brooch £9

Eyeballs are one of my favourite spooky things, I think it comes from several years working in optometry! I actually just bought myself this, I couldn't resist.

This totally counts as subtle enough for every day wear right? So cute!

I love that this isn't the traditional Halloween colours, that mint colour is such an unusual look for this time of year and I love it!

Little Miss Delicious Halloween Charm Necklace £21

How sweet are these charms?! I love their happy little faces. With Little Miss Delicious, you can get the necklace made in one of 3 lengths, so they are fine for us plus size ladies!

How Betty Rubble is this? Total Flintstones chic with added glitter. I think I might need this.

What are your favourite Halloween pieces?

Much love,
Kitty xxxxx

Crown & Glory Glitterati Box - October

October brings with it my second Crown & Glory Glitterati box! I got my first one in September, and was hooked immediately. If you don't know what the Glitterati box is, it is a subscription service for hair accessories! I joined up after having Botox for my chronic pain and finally being able to wear things in my hair for the first time in years.

Each box comes with an insert telling you what you have been sent, and how much they would be without the subscription. The stars gave a hint of the theme....

This is the first ever personalised item in a Glitterati box! It is a lush black velvet with hints of glitter, mounted onto a silver headband.

And the stars are all the constellation of your birth sign, in my case, Aquarius. It is so so pretty! I can see this with a LBD being so glamorous and gorgeous. This is also a Glitterati exclusive so unavailable to buy.

It looks like a beret, isn't it so cute?!

It looks cute worn on either side of my head, I felt so glam!

No Snag Hair Ties

I have wanted to try some no snag hair ties for a little while, and the galaxy and space colours of these are beautiful! You wouldn't mind these on your wrist, just in case you need them.

Metallic Star Printed Wired Headscarf

I love a wired headband! The way they hold the shape and sit on your head is fab. This comes in either navy or black, I got it in navy, which isn't a colour I usually wear, but it really works with the star print.

Isn't it so pretty? The stars are all over.

Starlight Comb £10

I absolutely love this hair comb. The grey and black glitter is so delicious, I can see me wearing this a lot over winter!

I was SO excited for this box to come. November already seems way too far away! I love that it's a themed box, and not at all what you expect for October. So gorgeous.

What subscription boxes are you signed up to? Are you also part of the Glitterati?

Much love,
Kitty xxxxx
